Chapter 976: Chapter 976: I’ll Just Pretend This Family Doesn’t Exist

Miles Sterling let out a cold laugh, his expression full of mockery, and said to Wendy Jennings, "She can only deceive you."

Wendy, more anxious than Gwen Grant, explained, "Gwen did in vitro, the child is yours!"

Miles was momentarily taken aback, looking at everyone in the room with incredulous eyes.

He felt like nothing more than a disrespected shell in front of these people.

Nothing was ever discussed with him; they just used any means to make him follow their path.

Miles stood up, let out another cold laugh, and said in a detached and resolute tone, "I won’t acknowledge the child. You all seem like a happy family. From now on, live together. I will pretend this family doesn’t exist."

Having said that, Miles hadn’t even warmed the chair before getting up and walking toward the hallway.

Quentin Sterling looked at Miles as he passed by, wanting to speak but ultimately not persuading him.

After all, if such a thing happened to him, he would feel the same as Miles.

Wendy hurried after him, "Son, where are you going? Isn’t today your mom’s birthday, and you came back to have dinner with her?"

Miles did not respond and bent down to change his shoes.

Wendy stood at the door, sincerely saying, "I know it’s hard to accept for now, and you and Gwen don’t have much emotional foundation, but Gwen is indeed pregnant with your child now. Can’t you live well with her?"

Miles sternly said, "Move."

Wendy sighed and said, "Son, your mom is not young anymore, and you’re not getting any younger either. Can you stop making a fuss? Just for mom’s sake?"

"Have you ever considered me? Did you ask my opinion when you made decisions on my behalf?"

"I know it’s wrong, but if I told you, you definitely wouldn’t agree."

Miles sneered, "So you just didn’t tell me? Well then, don’t tell me after having the child either. You all live together happily, as if I’m already dead."

"Son, what are you saying? Please, don’t be angry, calm down. Let’s eat first, and then we can talk when you’re calm."

Clearly, Miles wasn’t calming down, or perhaps he was very calm now, fully aware of his choices and actions to come.

He reached out, pulled Wendy away from the door, and left.

Wendy stood anxiously at the door, looking back and forth between inside the house and Miles’s figure growing more distant. She turned to Quentin and said, "Chase, please help persuade him!"

Quentin sighed and said, "He can think independently and make his own choices. You really should have discussed it with him first."

After saying that, Quentin stepped out, but instead of trying to retain Miles, he said, "You all go ahead and eat. I’ll drive him."

Miles refused Quentin’s offer, saying he wanted to be alone, and left the Sterling’s by himself.

He walked aimlessly down the street, not stopping any of the passing empty cars.

For a moment, he felt as if he had been abandoned by the world, without a place to settle.

Seeing a bar across the street, he hesitated, then walked towards it.

Just as he crossed to the other side, he saw Vanessa Sterling walking out of a nearby cinema. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Beside her was Richard Sheffied.

They held hands, laughing and joking as they walked to the car parked at the sidewalk, before getting in together.

Watching Richard drive the car away, Miles instantly changed his mind about going to the bar, immediately hailing a taxi by the road, and pointed forward saying, "Follow that car."
