Scott Sutton’s voice suddenly came through, startling Evelyn Linton, whose mind raced, wondering when he had arrived and whether he had overheard their conversation just now.

As Evelyn was lost in thought, Belle got up from the sofa and grinned at Scott Sutton, saying, "Scott, you’ve been a big help to our Evelyn. Evelyn said she wanted to treat us to a late-night snack. You’re free, right?"

Only then did Evelyn snap back to reality, opening her mouth to explain that she hadn’t actually said that, but quickly realized that saying so would make her seem stingy.

Thinking she might as well go along with Belle’s suggestion since she had planned to treat Scott Sutton to dinner to repay his kindness, she decided it saved her the trouble of figuring out how to invite him.

Seeing Evelyn’s silence, Scott Sutton, as if she had indeed said so, nodded and said, "Alright, what do you want to eat? I’ll go ahead and book the restaurant."

Belle, mouth watering, said, "We were thinking of going out for barbecue. Do you have any thoughts, Scott?"

"Anything’s fine with me."

"Great, great, then let’s go!" Belle turned back, ran to Evelyn’s side, snatched the clothes Evelyn was organizing out of her hands, tossed them aside, and whispered, "They already said someone will clean up, so stop fussing. Hurry up, go eat. Even if not for yourself, you need to reward me well."

Evelyn glanced at Scott Sutton waiting by the door, turned to grab her bag from the rack, and whispered to Belle, "Should we call the other staff to join us?"

"Why call anyone? Suddenly you’re so generous? Just the three of us having a good meal is enough, hurry!"

With Belle pulling her by the arm, Evelyn headed towards the door. Scott Sutton stood there and said, "I’ll go start the car. You two wait for me at the lobby entrance."

Belle laughed and nodded repeatedly, "Alright, alright, thank you!"

As they took the elevator downstairs and reached the lobby entrance, Belle looked at the distracted Evelyn and said, "What’s with your expression? It’s just a meal, not like they’re eating you. They’ve helped you, you know. Not showing a smile is really rude, don’t you know?"

Evelyn rolled her eyes and reminded her, "Just don’t go babbling nonsense later!"

Belle chuckled, "When have I ever spoken nonsense?"

Belle picked the dinner spot, a bustling barbecue stall by the riverbank, still lively even at this hour.

Eating barbecue, drinking beer, and viewing the night scene across the river felt like a relaxing break from tiring work.

Evelyn usually abstains from alcohol and hasn’t tested her limits, so she doesn’t dare drink much when out.

But Belle is different; wherever there is alcohol, she drinks until she’s suffering.

Evelyn hadn’t even finished a glass of beer, but Belle and Scott Sutton had already polished off a dozen.

The two drank similar amounts, but their tolerance was worlds apart.

Belle’s face was already flushed, and she started spewing nonsense, whereas Scott Sutton showed no signs of being drunk at all.

"Boss... another case, please."

Evelyn quickly pressed down on Belle’s hand and turned to smile at the boss, saying, "No, no more, thank you."

Belle frowned unhappily and slurred, "I can still drink... this amount of alcohol is nothing, not leaving until I’m drunk!"

After she finished speaking, Belle grabbed the empty glass and laughed foolishly, saying, "Cheers!"

Then she brought the empty glass to her lips, pretending to down it all.

Evelyn held Belle back, gave Scott Sutton an awkward smile, and felt incredibly embarrassed.
