My Antique Mirror Is A Portal To Another World
Chapter 760: Truly A Peerless Master
Rubbing her head against Feng Xiyan’s chest, Bai Hanyun pouted and pitifully asked, "Xiyan, can’t you do something about them? Pretty please?"
Feng Xiyan’s ears turned red at her coquettish act. Coughing lightly to clear his throat, he nodded and said, "The banquet I prepared for them will be held tonight. How about you attend with me, so you can scold them as you like?"
Bai Hanyun pondered for a moment, then replied, "Alright."
Clenching her fist in anger, she added, "I will make them bleed tonight! How dare they disturb me for four days!"
Seeing her puffed cheeks, Feng Xiyan chuckled helplessly, then kissed her forehead. "Alright, alright. Don’t be angry anymore. Do you want to have breakfast together?"
Gruu~!
Bai Hanyun’s stomach growled at that moment, causing her to blush in embarrassment.
Feng Xiyan laughed, then said, "Let’s go. The chefs prepared your favorite fried dough today for breakfast."
Holding Bai Hanyun’s hand, Feng Xiyan led her out of the commander’s tent.
Outside, those hiding in the shadows waiting for gossip saw the two of them come out hand in hand, smiling at each other while talking harmoniously.
Zhan Qi clicked his tongue and commented at the sight, "Tsk, the Great General is indeed worthy of his reputation. He can easily ease Fairy Bai’s anger without losing even a strand of hair. He is truly a peerless master."
Hearing this, Xue Ruhong and the other three generals nodded in agreement. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
While the generals and soldiers were in the middle of a heated discussion about what technique or tactic Feng Xiyan used to calm Bai Hanyun, time slowly passed.
When the sun had slowly gone down beyond the western horizon, Feng Xiyan rode his warhorse and returned to the Great General’s mansion.
Just as he arrived outside the mansion, he saw Bai Hanyun walking out, with Feng Wu following two steps behind.
"Yun’er," Feng Xiyan gently called as he stopped behind the horse carriage parked in front of the mansion.
Hearing someone call her, Bai Hanyun paused in her tracks, then turned to the side. Seeing Feng Xiyan jump down from his warhorse, her eyes lit up as she ran toward him.
"Xiyan!"
Hugging Feng Xiyan’s waist, Bai Hanyun looked up at him and asked, "Are you coming to change clothes?"
Feng Xiyan shook his head and replied, "I had already taken a shower at the barracks."
He caressed her rosy cheek gently, then added, "Didn’t you say those envoys always block your way when you go out? I came to escort you, just in case they block you again. I’m worried they might do something to you."
Listening to his explanation, Bai Hanyun smiled happily and said, "You are so good to me."
Feng Xiyan leaned down and kissed her red lips lightly. He smiled and whispered in her ear, "You are my life. I won’t let anyone hurt you—not even in thought."
Bai Hanyun’s ears turned red when his warm breath brushed against them. She blushed and glanced at Feng Wu and the two guarding soldiers who pretended to be dead, then lightly hit Feng Xiyan’s chest.
"Stop it. There are people around."
Feng Xiyan chuckled at the sight of her blushing face, then lovingly said, "Alright, alright. I won’t tease you anymore."
Looking at the darkened sky, he added, "We should go now. Otherwise, we will be late."
"Mhm." Bai Hanyun nodded, then got into the horse carriage with Feng Xiyan’s help.
With Feng Xiyan riding his warhorse and Feng Wu driving the carriage, they returned to the Feng Army’s barracks together.
By the time they arrived, the envoys had all gathered in the open field at the center of the barracks used to hold the banquet tonight.
Unlike the usual empty field, Tan Pengtai had miraculously transformed it into a luxurious flower garden filled with greenery and bright lamps.
Compared to the serious and rigid military setup of the barracks, this banquet venue seemed very out of place, but it also showcased the Feng Army’s strength in supplies and wealth.
Sitting at one of the long tables, the crown prince of the Liang Empire couldn’t stop scanning the surroundings.
After a long moment of shock, he finally said with a hint of fear and realization in his voice, "The Great General Feng is more wealthy and powerful than this prince thought."
Touching the glass surface of the table, he added in a heavy tone, "Look at this table. This prince has never seen such a transparent and beautiful thing before."
"It must cost a lot to make a table using this mysterious material, yet the Feng Army can take out dozens of them at once. This shows how wealthy they are."
Sitting beside him, the Protector General added, "Not only that. Your Highness, do you see those lights?"
"Those bright little suns... If they use those on the battlefield, how could enemies launch surprise attacks? They wouldn’t even have a chance to get close to the walls before being spotted."
While the two of them discussed the spotlights, glass tables, metal chairs, and floral decorations, the other envoys shared the same thoughts.
Unaware that Tan Pengtai’s urge to show off had crushed the envoys’ confidence, Feng Xiyan and Bai Hanyun arrived at the barracks.
Seeing them approaching, the soldiers quickly opened the main gate.
Clasping their fists, they greeted in unison, "This subordinate greets the Great General."
Feng Xiyan nodded, then asked, "Have the envoys arrived?"
One of the soldiers replied, "Reporting to the Great General, the envoys have all arrived and are already waiting in the banquet venue."
"Good. You two can take turns guarding the gate so you can eat the food while it’s hot."
Hearing this, the two soldiers were very grateful. "Thank you, Great General."
Feng Xiyan hummed in acknowledgment, then rode into the barracks. Instead of going directly to the banquet venue, he returned to the commander’s tent.
Jumping down from his warhorse, Feng Xiyan helped Bai Hanyun out of the carriage, then gently adjusted her slightly crooked hairpin.
When he was done, he took out a veil from his Qiankun Pouch and helped her put it on. Feng Xiyan looked at Bai Hanyun for a moment, then nodded in satisfaction.
Holding her hand, he said, "Let’s go."
Bai Hanyun touched the veil covering the lower half of her face, then smiled as she walked side by side with Feng Xiyan toward the banquet venue.
Tonight, she was going to make those annoying envoys bleed their wallets!
