My Antique Mirror Is A Portal To Another World
Chapter 781: Old Friends
By the time Feng Xiyan left the mansion in satisfaction, an hour had already passed.
Mounting his warhorse, Feng Xiyan headed directly to the Feng Army’s armory.
When the soldiers guarding the armory entrance saw him approaching, they quickly knelt and clasped their fists.
"This subordinate greets the Great General."
Feng Xiyan did not respond to them and rode directly into the armory grounds. Before long, he dismounted from his warhorse and ordered, "Open the door."
Receiving his order, one of the soldiers guarding the warehouse quickly opened the door.
After Feng Xiyan went inside, he whispered to the other soldier, "Why did the Great General suddenly visit this place? There are only old weapons and armor inside."
Hearing this, the other soldier shrugged and replied, "Don’t ask too many questions. The Great General’s thoughts are not ours to guess."
The first soldier immediately shut his mouth when he heard this.
Inside the warehouse, Feng Xiyan looked at the bronze weapons and cracked armor that had accompanied him and his army through the hardest times of their lives.
Caressing one of the bronze swords stacked inside a wooden box, Feng Xiyan smiled and whispered, "Thank you, old friend. It’s time for you to retire from the battlefield."
After saying that, he snapped his fingers and stored everything inside the warehouse into his black Qiankun Pouch. When he was done, Feng Xiyan left the empty warehouse.
Pausing in his tracks, he looked at the two soldiers and said, "There is no need to guard this warehouse anymore. You two should report to your superior and let him arrange your next positions."
Although they were confused, the two soldiers did not dare question Feng Xiyan. Clasping their fists, the soldiers responded in unison, "This subordinate accepts the order."
After giving the order, Feng Xiyan mounted his warhorse and rode back to the Great General’s Mansion.
Arriving at the Great General’s Mansion, Feng Xiyan returned to his bedroom in the main courtyard.
Closing the door behind him, he saw that the space and time portal was still there and stepped into it without hesitation.
The moment Feng Xiyan disappeared into the portal, it vanished without a trace.
Appearing back inside the empty warehouse, Feng Xiyan turned around and saw that the space and time portal was still there.
Leaving the warehouse, he went to find Bai Hanyun, only to discover that she was on the fourth floor.
"Yun’er, I’m back," Feng Xiyan said as he walked up to her.
Hearing this, Bai Hanyun stopped what she was doing and turned around.
Seeing Feng Xiyan walking toward her, she smiled and asked, "Welcome back, Xiyan. Did you change your clothes in the Ancient World?"
"Mhm." Standing before her, Feng Xiyan explained, "Yun’er, I brought back the weapons and armor you wanted."
After saying that, he took out the bronze weapons and armor from his Qiankun Pouch.
Looking at the wooden boxes stacked high in front of her, Bai Hanyun’s eyes lit up. She opened one of the wooden boxes and took out the slightly oxidized sword inside.
Picking up the sword, Bai Hanyun almost dropped it because of its heavy weight.
"Be careful!" Feng Xiyan reacted quickly and grabbed the sword’s hilt before it could slam at Bai Hanyun’s wrist.
Surprised by the weight, Bai Hanyun commented in shock, "This sword is so heavy. How do you guys wield it like it’s nothing?"
Feng Xiyan smiled at her question and explained, "A sword is a part of a martial arts practitioner’s body."
"On the battlefield, losing your weapon is equal to losing one of your hands. Therefore, before a soldier can participate in battle, they must first make the sword part of their body."
"Until soldiers can move swiftly without being constrained by their weapons’ weight, they cannot join any battle and will remain trainees. Since they cannot join the battlefield, they also cannot earn military merits."
"That is why every soldier in the Feng Army trains hard so they can join the battlefield as soon as possible. Not only for the better payment, but also for earning military merits and bringing back honor and glory to their families."
Listening to his explanation, Bai Hanyun nodded in understanding. "No wonder your Feng Army is so strong. It turns out this is the secret behind that power."
Feng Xiyan smiled at her before saying, "Let me help you hold the sword."
With Feng Xiyan holding the bronze sword, Bai Hanyun began inspecting it closely.
Under the bright ceiling lights, the greenish surface of the sword glistened like smooth glass, making it look strangely beautiful.
Bai Hanyun inspected the sword for a moment before saying, "The sword is in very good condition. Xiyan, are you sure I can have them?"
Looking at her, Feng Xiyan replied without hesitation, "Of course. What is mine is also yours. Since you gave us better weapons and armor, you can take these bronze swords and armor."
Thinking that it was a good deal, Bai Hanyun nodded in agreement. "Alright. Thank you, Xiyan."
Feng Xiyan kissed her forehead and gently said, "There is no need to say thanks between us."
After Feng Xiyan put down the bronze sword and closed the wooden box, Bai Hanyun stored the wooden boxes inside her black spatial ring.
When she was done, she turned to Feng Xiyan and said, "I still need to fill these display cabinets. If you are bored, you can look around or go out for a walk."
Feng Xiyan glanced at the watch on his left wrist before saying, "I’m going to change out of these clothes first. Also, you should tell the Yang Mirror to close the space and time portal."
Being reminded by him, Bai Hanyun replied, "Got it."
After Feng Xiyan left to change his clothes, Bai Hanyun went downstairs and walked toward the warehouse.
Standing before the space and time portal, she called out, "Yang Mirror, are you awake?"
A few seconds later, the Yang Mirror’s sleepy voice echoed in Bai Hanyun’s mind. "Mhm. Do you want me to close the portal?"
"Yes."
After receiving her answer, the Yang Mirror turned into a golden light and flew out of her dantian.
