Chapter 26: Monkey

"I kinda did my research on you guys first," Ian said, staring at David and his friends. "You were brought in by my father last year with the hope of becoming Aura Users. But you have trained for over a year now, and you guys have not even made that much progress at all."

They felt a sharp pain in their guts. Being told they had no talent hurt. Although Ian didn’t say the word ’trash’ out loud, in their hearts, they interpreted it as him calling them weak and useless.

"Now, now, there is no need for you guys to make that kind of face," Ian said, looking at their sad expressions. "I will tell you how to get strong another way. If you listen to me, all of you will have the ability to fight people who are above your level."

"Wow, really?" Dennis exclaimed.

"Yes," Ian replied with a smile.

Ian then turned to his sister, who was standing quietly by the wall. "Emily will teach you the basics of the stance while I go sort some things out. Pay close attention to her."

’Wow, that would be really cool. We could actually have an opportunity to become knights!’ Dennis thought, completely zoning out of the room as Ian left. ’Knights are Aura Users who have advanced to the Seventh Stage. I once heard that once a person reaches the Seventh Stage, they could even face a Sixth-Class Mage! Defeating a Sixth-Class Mage is not an easy feat, since even a First-Class Mage can overpower many Third-Stage Aura Users. In this kingdom, there are really few of them. They cannot even be counted on one hand.’ Dennis stood there smiling like an idiot, fantasizing about becoming a powerhouse.

"Hey... hey... Dennis... DENNIS!" Dion called out. Seeing that Dennis was in his own world and not moving at all, she grabbed him and shook him hard to wake him up, causing him to trip and fall down.

"Aaaah... why are you yelling so close to me all of a sudden? Aaahh, my ears!" Dennis grumbled, looking up at Dion with a pissed-off expression.

"Tsk... dumbass," Dion whispered. She then looked away, shaking her head as if feeling pity for him.

"What was all that about?" Dennis muttered. He looked at his retreating sister and noticed she was taking a strange, wide-legged position. He looked around and saw that David and Ivory were taking the exact same strange stance.

’What the hell are they all doing? Are they holding a shit or what?’ Dennis thought while standing up and dusting the dirt off his clothes.

But while he was staring at his friends, a chilling, cold aura started pressing against his back.

’What the hell is this aura?’ Dennis swallowed hard. He felt that if he ever turned his head right now, he would be dead. ’Wait, why can’t I see the Young Master?’

He started to look around without turning his head. Then, he heard a strong, angry feminine voice right behind him.

"I’m pissed off that my brother dumped all this work onto me," Emily said coldly. "He told me to train you guys just because I happen to be here, using stupid flattery and saying I am the best teacher ever. And now, there is this monkey who was just standing around dozing off, not even listening to a single word I was saying."

Dennis was shaking.

"Monkey. Turn around," Emily ordered.

He instantly knew the one being referred to as a monkey was him. For a split second, he wanted to run, but that thought came and went instantly. He didn’t have the guts to do it. He turned around very slowly.

"I am going to ask you one simple question," Emily said, staring at Dennis with really cold eyes. "What is the name of the technique that I just taught you? I will give you ten seconds."

"One... two..." Emily started counting.

’Shit, shit, shit! She is counting! And what technique? I didn’t hear any technique! Maybe the others know, I should ask them,’ Dennis panicked. He turned his head quickly to see if one of his friends could help him. But to his disappointment, when his eyes met theirs, they immediately looked away as if they didn’t want to get involved at all.

"Three... four... five..."

’You traitors! Why are you looking away? I thought we went through things together as a team! I will make you guys pay for this,’ Dennis cried internally.

He looked back at Emily and started sweating extremely fast. ’What the hell are you doing with your fists? I should just guess a name. Maybe I can get lucky.’ He saw Emily folding her fist, almost ready to punch him.

"Six... seven... eight..."

’Fuck, here goes nothing!’

"Nine..."

"The name of the technique is STANDING SQUAT ARMS TECHNIQUE!" Dennis yelled at the top of his lungs.

"Pfft—" David and Dion quickly covered their mouths, trying hard to hold their laughs in. They definitely didn’t want to get on Emily’s bad side. Ivory didn’t make a sound. He was still grieving and not in a laughing mood today, so he just stared at Dennis and didn’t say anything.

"What did you just say, monkey? Maybe I heard you wrong the first time," Emily asked, looking completely dazed.

"Standing squat arms technique," Dennis repeated in a low, scared voice.

"You really are a monkey, huh?" Emily sighed. "In your next life, when you are in my lesson, don’t do stupid shit like this."

"Wait, wait... pfft!"

Emily punched Dennis right in the gut. She didn’t hit him that hard because she was worried she would permanently injure him, but she was still very pissed off that he didn’t even pay attention. Even without using all her strength, the impact made him fall to his knees, causing him to faint completely.

Emily stepped right over Dennis’s unconscious body. She turned to David, Ivory, and Dion, who were staring at her in shock.

"What are you monkeys looking at?" Emily asked sharply, crossing her arms. "Do you have anything to say?"

The three of them rapidly shook their heads and looked straight forward, holding their stances perfectly still. They definitely did not want to end up like Dennis.

While this was happening in the training room, Ian was walking down the quiet corridors, heading back to his room in deep thought.

’I just hope this works,’ Ian thought to himself. ’By giving outsiders the cultivation techniques, maybe they will give me Prosperity Points too. Since this is a CLAN Cultivation System and not a FAMILY Cultivation System, it does not technically mean only my blood family members can cultivate to give me rewards. A clan can have loyal followers too.’
