My Co-renting Lady Boss
Chapter 1851 - 1847: The Strange Tournament
"Is it that bizarre?"
Tang Ming began to doubt.
"Even people from the Exorcism Order have appeared, do you think the medical tournament can be simple?"
Meng Xianjun sighed and looked out the window with emotion: "I’ve observed carefully, it seems many of the twenty-five who advanced are experts; take that Tang Xinhai who defeated me, for example, with my cultivation, I cannot see through him."
"What’s going on here? Has your family revealed anything?"
Tang Ming furrowed his brows, he truly knew too little about the matters in martial arts.
"Honestly, my family hasn’t really explained anything to me, but one thing is certain, the big forces in martial arts are all scheming their own actions, including the force behind me doing some unknown things, hence they are testing and monitoring each other."
Meng Xianjun shook his head, sighing: "I estimate there is a huge dark hand behind the medical tournament too, so the talents from the major forces take part, trying to figure out what these people are up to."
"Damn it, you these Hidden Forces are really bored, can’t you just focus on cultivation? Do you have to cause such a scene?"
Tang Ming complained irritably.
"Tang Ming! Although your talent is high and you have guidance from a famous teacher, you are ultimately not an heir of a martial arts force."
Meng Xianjun looked at Tang Ming with a strange expression: "You only need to remember one thing, the actions taken by the big forces, if successful, can cause heaven and earth to turn and affect the world order, so these people might spend a generation, or even several generations, pursuing some things that ordinary people cannot understand."
"Is the force behind you making big moves too?"
Tang Ming looked at Meng Xianjun strangely.
"I can’t tell you."
Meng Xianjun smiled faintly, then his gaze became firm: "But one thing I can say, if someday you affect the plans of my Meng Family, then you and I can only fight to the death, that’s fate."
"Crazy! I don’t even know which force you belong to or what you are doing, how could I possibly affect your plans."
Tang Ming rolled his eyes at Meng Xianjun irritably.
"I’m just giving a metaphor to illustrate the seriousness of this matter. Even our brotherly bond might have to... Next, we may be peeking into some big force’s secret actions, I must make you aware of the danger."
Meng Xianjun earnestly explained.
"Got it, but there’s no need to be so heavy-hearted. I’m just here to make it into the top ten of the medical tournament, without much other thoughts. As long as they don’t provoke me, I’ll leave right after getting my rank."
Tang Ming smiled calmly, expressing no malice.
"Hey! Haven’t you heard a saying, ’In the Jianghu, one cannot control their fate’?"
Meng Xianjun sighed helplessly: "Nowadays, with so many forces mixed into the medical tournament, let alone the top ten, I guess you who’ve advanced to the top twenty-five might find themselves unable to control their fate."
"Hmm! There’s a point in what you’re saying, do you have any way to track, I should keep one too, in case of danger, you have to come save me."
Tang Ming nodded, looking at Meng Xianjun expectantly.
"I can’t!"
Meng Xianjun shook his head, looking at Tang Ming awkwardly: "But Yingzi can sense your location, after she arrives, I can act by following her."
"That works! I wonder what the venue for the finals really is, and there’s something very odd, I’ve seen plenty of staff by now, but the organizers of the medical tournament haven’t seen a single important figure."
Tang Ming rubbed his chin in confusion.
"Nominally, the medical tournament is hosted by the National Medicine Association, but looking at the setup, that seems to be just a facade, I suspect only those of you entering the finals might see the people behind the scenes."
Meng Xianjun shrugged, his expression suddenly becoming strange: "There’s another possibility, that only the true champion can meet the people behind, which also possibly explains why every tournament’s champion disappears."
"A perfectly good medical tournament, now made so eerie, I’m just bewildered."
Tang Ming sighed frustratedly: "Thinking so much is useless, since I’m here, I’ll just go with the flow and see where things go, right?"
"We can only do this now, all of you need to be more cautious."
Meng Xianjun nodded, saying no more.
After a bit of rest, Wu Fangyue and Liu Xinlong and others followed Guo Dahai back to the Imperial City.
Guo Dahai and Huang Di were very pleased, even though Wu Fangyue was eliminated, she still made it into the top hundred, plus Tang Ming and Zhou Xiaoqian both entered the finals, which is certainly a pride for the Medical University, enough to boast about for the next ten years.
According to the organizers’ requirements, the finals would not be open to the public, so neither spectators nor reporters were allowed to follow, thus Guo Dahai and others could only return to the Imperial City to await news.
Tang Ming and others gathered on time at the square, while Meng Xianjun stayed at the hotel waiting to meet with Yingzi and Sun Zhuangjia.
At two o’clock, Tang Ming and the twenty-five people entering the finals brought their respective luggage to the center of the venue to gather.
By this time, the barbed wire around the venue had been removed, no spectators were around, but a group of uniformly dressed staff appeared, along with a white-haired elder in a white long robe.
"Kids, congratulations on making it to the finals of the medical tournament, my name is Huang Hexian."
The elder stood before the group, and said leisurely: "Every decade, the medical tournament gives birth to a young Medical King and countless talents in the medical community, once the tournament ends, it will be your time to be renowned worldwide. Then, various big forces will actively offer you an olive branch, money, fame, power, beauties, all will be at your fingertips, so you must strive hard to succeed."
Many of the contestants were extremely excited.
"This sounds like brainwashing sales pitch." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Tang Ming complained in disbelief quietly.
"It does seem a bit odd, he didn’t clearly explain who he is?"
Zhou Xiaoqian nodded repeatedly.
"The name Huang Hexian sounds familiar, but I can’t recall it at the moment."
Hua Yingjie frowned, shaking his head helplessly.
After Huang Hexian appeared, he delivered a lot of morale-boosting speeches, essentially encouraging everyone to keep striving for better results in the medical tournament.
Half an hour later, a specially-modified coach appeared in the square, its tires and body were specially processed, enhancing much of its off-road capability.
"Alright, everyone now board the vehicle, we’re officially heading to the finals venue of the medical tournament."
Huang Hexian took the lead toward the coach, warmly inviting everyone.
