Chapter 373: Chapter 245: Dark Night Descends

Balenzuo flapped his fleshy wings in midair.

Fang Zhen looked up. ’From this angle, with the moon right behind Balenzuo, this looks just like a classic scene from *Demon Castle*.’

Having revealed his true form, Balenzuo glared viciously at Fang Zhen. But a moment later, a flicker of hesitation—of uncertainty—crossed his face.

Fang Zhen had sharp eyes. The moment he saw Balenzuo’s reaction, he knew exactly what was happening.

’This son of a bitch wants to run!’

Fang Zhen had read his expression in an instant.

Sure enough, the next moment, Balenzuo looked down on Fang Zhen from above. His expression was cold, his eyes filled with hatred as he said, "You ruined everything I’ve planned, Fang Zhen!"

"Don’t think this is over! The day will come when I make you pay for this—with interest! I’ll make you regret you were ever born into this world!"

Fang Zhen’s suspicion was confirmed. Balenzuo wanted to run.

Truly ruthless people act first and talk later—if at all.

Balenzuo shouting threats like this meant only one thing: he was determined to talk the toughest game while running the most cowardly escape.

Fang Zhen’s mind raced. ’Should I pull out the AWP sniper rifle and take a shot at Balenzuo while he’s in the sky?’

’But revealing the AWP sniper rifle isn’t a good idea. After all, it hasn’t been long since the incident with Count Henry, and morale among my own troops is still unstable. If I pull out the AWP, anyone with half a brain might connect me to Count Henry’s assassination.’

’I can’t underestimate the intelligence of the people here. They might lack modern knowledge and experience, but they’re by no means stupid. And that isn’t even counting the Mages, who specialize in using their intellect...’

’Mages?’

’That’s right, the Mages!’

Fang Zhen suddenly remembered that he wasn’t fighting alone.

The Mage Corps had charged over here with him.

His cavalry and the Mage Corps had been clearing out Balenzuo’s surrounding troops. They should have finished their task by now and be on their way back to find him, their commander.

A glance from the corner of his eye confirmed it: the Mages of the Mage Corps were not far off, and they were riding over at this very moment.

Fang Zhen immediately used his power to amplify his voice, roaring, "Mage Corps! Shoot this demon down for me!"

The members of the Mage Corps had only just arrived and were staring in astonishment at the flying demon that had appeared in the sky.

Upon hearing Fang Zhen’s order, many of the Mages reacted instantly out of habit. The group began to coordinate with perfect chemistry—some began their incantations, while others activated their Extraordinary Items.

Seeing this, Balenzuo, still in his flying demon form, sensed the danger and tried to run. But Fang Zhen kept pulling the trigger, unleashing a torrent of bullets from his Desert Viper Handgun, aiming specifically for vital areas like the forehead, eyes, and heart.

Fang Zhen didn’t know if these were actually a demon’s vital spots, but his marksmanship was superb. At this distance, it made little difference where he aimed, so he just targeted those areas.

Balenzuo tried to leave quickly, but he was pinned down by the bullets from the Desert Viper.

Balenzuo’s defenses in this form must have been stronger than in his human one, yet he still didn’t dare take a bullet to a vital spot, especially not his head. He dodged constantly, changing his flight angle and path, circling in the air like a great bat, never daring to turn and fly straight away.

Fang Zhen spotted the weakness.

Balenzuo didn’t dare turn his head, afraid of being shot in the back of it. His defenses elsewhere were not nearly as strict.

’His head is the weak point!’

Once Fang Zhen confirmed this, he focused all his fire on Balenzuo’s head. His strategy was simple: if you’re afraid of getting hit there, that’s exactly where I’ll aim.

Balenzuo roared in fury, but he was helpless.

During their earlier clash, Fang Zhen’s precise shooting and apparent precognitive abilities had left a deep impression on Balenzuo.

Although Balenzuo didn’t know what that thing in Fang Zhen’s hands was, he knew it was powerful. With Fang Zhen being such a crack shot, Balenzuo didn’t dare get arrogant and flee without reservation, exposing his weak point to the gun’s muzzle.

This delayed him for two or three critical seconds.

CLICK! CLICK!

Suddenly, the Desert Viper in Fang Zhen’s left hand clicked empty.

Fang Zhen frowned slightly.

’The magazine is empty.’

Just as Balenzuo was about to breathe a sigh of relief, he saw Fang Zhen give him a cunning smile from below.

Balenzuo visibly trembled.

Behind Fang Zhen, the Mages of the Mage Corps had nearly completed their casting. A volley of multi-colored Magic Missiles, Fireballs, control spells, and evocation Magic shot toward the airborne Balenzuo.

In an instant, the sky exploded like a firework display. Streaks of red, yellow, white, blue, and green Magic shot toward Balenzuo with incredible speed, leaving shimmering trails in their wake.

Balenzuo let out a roar of pure rage and vexation. But with his attention and time consumed by Fang Zhen, he had very little room to dodge.

Balenzuo was still quite agile in his demon form. He twisted and flipped through the air, using his exceptionally nimble Body Technique to evade two or three spells before he was finally engulfed by the focused magical barrage.

BOOM!

BAM! BAM!

BOOM!

FWOOSH!

The roar of magical explosions became a continuous cacophony. The air around Balenzuo erupted in constant detonations and showers of firelight as he was wretchedly swallowed by the dazzling Magic Flames and their shockwaves.

While watching Balenzuo in the sky, Fang Zhen expertly swapped the empty magazine in his Desert Viper for a spare, not even needing to look down at his hands.

Seeing Balenzuo turned into a human torch by the midair explosions, a faint smile touched the corners of Fang Zhen’s lips.
