"Hahaha."

Fang Zhen laughed. It seemed his gamble with the ideological team had paid off.

However, a faint sense of unease still lingered in Fang Zhen’s heart.

’A god... what a heavy word.’

When he was a materialist, he’d dismissed such things, believing them to be mere human constructs.

But the deeper he delved, the more he felt that the truth of this world wasn’t what he had once believed.

Some beings, perhaps with stronger perceptions, had absorbed these negative energies, leading their worlds down a twisted, even evil, path.

Fang Zhen considered this. He really couldn’t bring himself to do charity; he just didn’t have the patience for it. He found a lot of people in the world quite irritating, and trying to tell the difference between someone who genuinely needed help and a scammer was too much trouble.

But taking out those evil and chaotic types? That, he was more than happy to do.

Besides, he’d find it immensely satisfying.

This process would allow him to build up his strength.

According to Dale, hunting beings that were focal points of evil energy would grant a corresponding measure of positive power, which would in turn increase his strength—in other words, it would convert into Merit Points and free attribute points.

And by doing this repeatedly, in a way, killing evil was a form of promoting good.

He would also build up enough of a moral foundation to feel that he could, in fact, take on the role of a Divine Spirit.

At least when it came to protecting ordinary people and striking down evil, he would be qualified to call himself a Divine Spirit.

Fang Zhen couldn’t help but scoff at himself. ’I haven’t even become a god yet, and I’m already holding myself to divine standards.’

"Heh... people..." He chuckled, and the pressure on his mind eased considerably.

Fang Zhen thought for a moment. He was still receiving periodic battle reports, though he ignored them most of the time.

The most recent report had assessed that while Fang Zhen’s personal strength had reached a certain level, his items and equipment hadn’t kept pace.

Fang Zhen had just over ten days until the next Hell-difficulty dungeon unlocked, and he planned to use that time to get stronger.
