Chapter 146 - 145: Family Matters
"What’s your sister’s name?" Yi Tianyun asked.
"Zhu Yuwei!" Zhu Yuxuan replied without hesitation.
’Just as I thought!’
Yi Tianyun immediately confirmed his suspicion. To avoid being found, she had to change her identity. She hadn’t hidden her given name, only changed her surname. But even so, they still couldn’t find her easily. It was no simple task to find one person in a vast sea of people.
’I can’t believe that after running away from home, Zhu Yuwei managed to build a life for herself from scratch. She clearly has exceptional management skills. It’s just that her position isn’t very high. Even though she manages the Treasure Pavilion, her lack of background means her title of Pavilion Master makes her nothing more than a puppet.’
The Zhu Family was quite famous on the Celestial Realm Continent and served as a management branch of the Star Pavilion. Otherwise, Zhu Yuxuan wouldn’t have shown up here.
"If I may ask, why exactly did your sister run away from home?" Yi Tianyun asked.
"I have no comment on that. This is a family matter." Zhu Yuxuan refused to elaborate. "Just tell us where to find my sister, and we will immediately present you with a handsome reward. I guarantee you’ll be satisfied!" After all, this was a family scandal, so she certainly wasn’t going to explain it in detail.
"If that’s the case, then I have nothing to tell you either," Yi Tianyun said. "Your sister and I are friends. She chose to run away, so she must have had her reasons—something she didn’t want to face. Therefore, I won’t say a word."
Zi Yuwei was, in fact, Zhu Yuwei. Her relationship with Yi Tianyun was on good terms. She had wanted to help him but was powerless to do so. In his heart, Yi Tianyun already considered her a friend.
"Sir, it seems you’re determined not to talk?" Zhu Yuxuan’s expression turned cold in an instant. "There are some things we are unwilling to discuss because they are our family matters, and you don’t need to know the details. Just tell us where she is. This will only be good for my sister, not bad!"
"I don’t see it that way," Yi Tianyun replied, refusing to back down. "Since I am your sister’s friend, I need to hear a few things first to decide whether it’s worth telling you."
"My friend, it seems you don’t realize where you are," Steward Huang said, stepping forward with a grave expression. "This is a very important matter for the entire Star Pavilion, so you must speak up. Otherwise, we’ll have to invite you somewhere to think long and hard about whether you want to tell us."
As he spoke, he snapped his fingers. A group of Cultivators immediately swarmed in, including three stewards at the Core Formation Stage. They rushed from the floors above and below, surrounding Yi Tianyun.
"Steward Huang, what’s going on?" a middle-aged man who had just arrived asked.
"He knows of Yuwei’s whereabouts but refuses to talk," Steward Huang said in a low voice.
"He knows about Yuwei?" The man looked at Yi Tianyun in surprise, then his expression turned serious. "Friend, as long as you tell us where Yuwei is, we will give you a corresponding reward. We will absolutely not treat you unfairly."
"I’ve said it before: I will make my own judgment. Zhu Yuwei is my friend, and I respect her choice. If you think you can force it out of me, I can only say that’s impossible!" Yi Tianyun’s brows knitted together; their attitude was really starting to annoy him.
"In that case, please forgive us for the offense. If you won’t talk, then don’t even think about leaving!" Steward Huang raised his hand and commanded, "Seize him!"
The cooperative relationship they had just formed was shattered in the blink of an eye. The reversal was simply too abrupt.
One of the men immediately lunged at Yi Tianyun. He flipped his palm, which transformed into a claw as he reached out to grab him. The power released from the Core Formation Stage expert was like a Giant Eagle swooping down, intending to capture him like prey!
However, they didn’t seem to intend to harm him; they only wanted to capture him alive.
A glint flashed in Yi Tianyun’s eyes. Moving even faster, he grabbed his opponent’s arm and violently slammed him onto the ground. BAM! The man was stunned and dazed, but the blow wasn’t fatal; he was just knocked silly.
Since his opponent hadn’t used lethal force, he wouldn’t either.
"I advise you not to act rashly," Yi Tianyun said, looking at them calmly. "I can’t guarantee I’ll hold back as much next time." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
This left them all stunned. The cultivation of their companion who’d charged in wasn’t particularly high, but he was still at the fifth or sixth level of the Core Formation Stage. To be defeated in an instant could only prove one thing: Yi Tianyun’s cultivation was even higher!
Yi Tianyun had taken down one of the stewards with a single move. If he had been a bit more ruthless, the man would surely be dead. The sheer speed of his attack had stunned them. Only the powerful had the right to speak.
They all exchanged glances, seeing the shock in each other’s eyes. Both his speed and strength were astonishing, far surpassing the steward from moments ago. This meant the young man before them had a cultivation level much higher than theirs.
Because Yi Tianyun was wearing the Hundred-Change Mask, which made him look like a young man of twenty-four or twenty-five, they couldn’t discern his true age. If they knew that Yi Tianyun was actually only about seventeen, they would have been even more shocked.
"So, what’s it going to be? Shall we fight, or shall we have a proper talk?" Yi Tianyun asked, watching their shocked expressions with a calm demeanor. Their astonishment was entirely within his expectations.
Now they had to reconsider their options carefully. For someone so young to have such a powerful cultivation, his background couldn’t be simple. This was what they were all thinking. In fact, Yi Tianyun was merely a member of a first-grade faction. But they assumed that for someone so young with such a high cultivation level, it would be impossible to train him without a massive amount of resources.
After exchanging another glance, they could only choose to compromise.
"Friend, we’re not trying to make things difficult for you on purpose," Steward Huang said with a sigh. "It’s just that Zhu Yuwei is very important to us. Her running away from home all those years ago has caused a great deal of trouble for the Star Pavilion!"
"If I’m not mistaken, you must have forced her to do something, which is why she chose to run away," Yi Tianyun said grimly. "From what I know of her personality, she’s a very responsible person. She would never do something like this without a good reason."
Zhu Yuxuan was silent for a moment, then took a step forward, completely unafraid of Yi Tianyun’s power. "Sir, since you want to know, I’ll tell you the truth. My sister fled from her wedding. It’s as simple as that. This matter isn’t widely known to the public, so we’ve kept it quiet to protect the Star Pavilion’s reputation."
"Fled her wedding?" Yi Tianyun was taken aback. The situation was a bit cliché, but it was something that happened often, especially to the children of great families. They had no say in the matter; their happiness was controlled by their family. It was indeed a bit of a tragedy.
He just never expected Zhu Yuwei to be so bold as to defy an order from the Star Pavilion.
