My Dreams Connect to Ancient Times
Chapter 374 - 316: A Daluo Strikes, Attacking Xuandu’s Past (Part 2)
The Dragon Kings and Dragon Crown Princes paled once more. An oath to be witnessed by The Three Pristine Ones?
The West Sea Dragon King subconsciously blurted out,
"But... but Those Three would never bear witness to such an oath."
"They will," Lu Xuan said with a smile. "Let’s first have this East Sea Crown Prince ascend the throne. After you four Dragon Kings make the pact with me, I will naturally release these two remnant souls to Reincarnation."
"Fine!"
While the other Dragon Kings were still hesitating, the North Sea Dragon King was the first to speak decisively.
"However, the East Sea Dragon Palace has collapsed and is no longer suitable for the ritual. Ao Guang’s ascension requires a grand ceremony to be recognized by heaven and earth, to become Immortal, and to take the Dragon King’s throne."
He added,
"But we can go to the secret hall beneath the Dragon Palace. The ritual can be performed there without causing a stir or being detected by the outside world."
"Is that so?" Lu Xuan said thoughtfully. He glanced at his senior brother, and after seeing him give a calm nod, Lu Xuan understood. He said faintly,
"Then let’s go."
As he spoke, he waved his hand and put away the remnant souls of the two Old Dragon Kings.
"I’ll lead the way!" the North Sea Dragon King said decisively again, while a strange look flashed in the eyes of the other Dragon Kings.
...
With the North Sea Dragon King in the lead, Lu Xuan, Xuandu, and Nezha, accompanied by the other Dragon Kings and Dragon Crown Princes, followed a secret passage down below the Dragon Palace.
The secret passage was extremely narrow, but at its end, everything opened up. Before them was a vast space, with a pitch-black grand hall in the center emitting a faint glow.
Arriving before the hall, a trace of excitement and ferocity flashed across the North Sea Dragon King’s face.
"We’re here."
As he spoke, he reached out to push open the hall’s doors but was stopped by Lu Xuan’s outstretched hand.
"A little interesting," Lu Xuan said with great interest as he studied the pitch-black hall. "Is this the source of your confidence?"
The Dragon Crown Princes were baffled, but the expressions of the three Dragon Kings changed drastically.
Lu Xuan reached out, stroking the doors of the hall, and smiled.
"Who’s inside? Is it the foundation of your Dragon Race, or some old ancestor? Or perhaps... the most ancient of Ancient Ancestors?"
The North Sea Dragon King’s heart pounded. He spoke, his voice dry,
"You... you know?"
"I’m not an idiot," Lu Xuan chuckled, glancing at the Ancient Daoist. "Senior Brother, are you confident?"
"I am." Xuandu remained as taciturn as ever, his eyelids lowered, his expression completely unruffled.
"Done."
As his voice fell, under the stunned gazes of the three Dragon Kings, Lu Xuan pushed with force. The hall doors trembled slightly, and with a shower of falling dust, they swung wide open!
The instant the doors opened.
ROAR!
A deep dragon’s roar echoed as if some terrifying creature had awakened. A faint aura swept out, making everyone’s heart—except for Xuandu’s—pound violently!
Nezha inconspicuously shuffled back a few steps. Ecstasy appeared in the eyes of the three Dragon Kings and four Dragon Crown Princes.
Lu Xuan, however, struggled to raise his head. He focused his gaze and saw a massive jade-like orb that filled the entire grand hall!
"This is..."
He froze for a moment, then a chill ran down his spine as he suddenly realized.
This thing, tens of thousands of meters wide, located behind the grand hall... was an eyeball?
In the next instant, the grand hall collapsed. The darkness surrounding it dissipated, revealing a colossal dragon head. The head alone stretched for tens of thousands of *li*, to say nothing of its body!
"Ancient Ancestor!" The three Dragon Kings wept with tears streaming down their faces. The four Dragon Crown Princes also prostrated themselves on the ground. Nezha’s expression changed, and he tried to flee back the way they came, only to find the path sealed. This vast space was now cut off from the outside world, completely isolated!
"The most ancient ancestor of the Dragon Race..." the Ancient Daoist spoke, a rare occurrence. "Is it the Ancestral Dragon?"
As he muttered to himself, two enormous eyes looked over, their gaze locking onto Lu Xuan and Xuandu. A terrifying pressure descended, hanging right above their heads!
Lu Xuan felt his limbs go cold, but he did not retreat. He stared into those eyes and saw the flow of Time, the ebb and flow of Years, the vicissitudes of hundreds of millions of years!
"One is at the Celestial Realms, the other isn’t even Immortal, and you dare to provoke me?"
The colossal dragon’s roar made Lu Xuan’s ears bleed.
The Ancestral Dragon stared at the two and continued to speak.
"You, Daoist. Who is your master?"
"You talk too much." Xuandu was expressionless. He ignored the Ancestral Dragon and glanced at Lu Xuan.
"Junior Brother, shall I cut him down?"
"Senior Brother, can you win?"
"Not certain," Xuandu said bluntly. "But I definitely can’t kill it. This is a [Daluo]. It can roam through Time and Years. If it’s determined to escape, I can’t stop it."
’Determined to... escape?’
The three Dragon Kings almost burst out laughing. It felt absurd. Although this Daoist was powerful, at the Celestial Realms, comparable to an Upper Celestial Venerable or an Ancient Buddha, but...
The Dragon Kings and Dragon Crown Princes all began to laugh. Though startled, Nezha, who was behind them, wasn’t terrified. He just watched quietly.
The Ancestral Dragon lifted its eyelids, its enormous draconic eyes reflecting visions of all the Celestial Realms.
"Daoist, have you gone mad? Is your name Luo Hou? I’ve never heard of you..."
"Since I have never heard of you, you can be slain."
As its voice fell, the Ancestral Dragon’s gaze solidified, transforming into a thousand threads of starlight that suddenly descended, strangling everything in their path!
Xuandu pulled Lu Xuan behind him and faced the attack alone. Lu Xuan didn’t hesitate either, connecting with the Heaven and Earth Profound Yellow Exquisite Pagoda in the sea of his mind and secretly gathering power.
’This is a Daluo, after all!’
’Even Senior Brother Xuandu isn’t sure he can win. If something unexpected happens, I might really have to use this Pagoda again. Not to protect myself, but to reveal my identity...’
Just as Lu Xuan was deep in thought, the thousand threads of light from the dragon’s eyes suddenly expanded. Each thread transformed into a river of stars, and a thousand stars and ten thousand constellations fell together, weaving a web of killing intent!
Xuandu’s expression was calm as he simply met the attack head-on. He raised his palm and struck the myriad rivers of stars, extinguishing the constellations. His hand continued to push forward, bursting with brilliant light!
"Hm?"
The previously nonchalant Ancestral Dragon was now startled and suspicious. Its two eyes, each spanning dozens of *li*, narrowed slightly, clearly showing some surprise.
But it did not hesitate. It deployed a true Slaughter technique, raising its Dragon Claw and crushing down!
"You have indeed exceeded my expectations."
The Ancestral Dragon spoke calmly.
The Dragon Claw blotted out the sky, its ancient scales reflecting a faint glow. It seemed as if all the Celestial Realms revolved within the claw. The mere pressure of its descent caused the vast space here to tremble violently.
The escaping killing intent caused the blood and qi of the Dragon Kings, the Dragon Crown Princes, and Lu Xuan to stagnate. Even Nezha was compressed into a ball by the pressure!
The next instant.
SQUELCH!
A muffled sound.
Under the dumbfounded gazes of the Dragon Kings, the Dragon Claw... had been pierced through!
The Daoist crashed through the entire Dragon Claw, bathed in Ancestral Dragon Blood, his expression unchanged. He strode forward, formed a Great Seal with his hands, and conjured an Illusory Pill Furnace that enveloped the entire, immeasurably massive Ancestral Dragon!
The latter was stunned. Staring at the bloody hole in its Dragon Claw, it said, bewildered,
"How is that possible?!"
It stared at Xuandu, its expression turning solemn.
"No, you have surpassed the [Celestial Realms], but you are by no means a [Daluo]. And this kind of Fighting Skill..."
Xuandu said faintly,
"You should worry about yourself."
He clapped his hands together. The Pill Furnace trembled slightly, trapping the Ancestral Dragon inside. The Pill Furnace, condensed from a Magic Skill, immediately erupted with world-scorching flames, intending to refine this immeasurably massive Ancestral Dragon!
The latter let out a deafening roar. Its body, ancient, Immortal, undying, and indestructible, was actually showing signs of melting.
The Ancestral Dragon was truly frightened now. Its pupils contracted abruptly, its face showing utter shock.
"Luo Hou? I will remember you..."
"But this is where it all ends."
"Do you understand that all who are beneath Daluo are but ants?"
With a faint smile, the Ancestral Dragon swiped its claw at Xuandu, tearing open Xuandu’s Years and strolling into his past!
"Though you may be extremely powerful in the present, able to challenge a Daluo without being one yourself, you have not yet reached the realm of Eternal Proof. You have a weak past, you see."
The Ancestral Dragon said with a laugh.
