Chapter 247: I Just Came Here To Chat For A Bit

"I heard the Chieftain of the Riverfang Tribe is a truly outstanding person," Hagen said with a smile. "But when I saw you, I realized that the rumors haven’t done you justice."

"Indeed." Malik nodded in agreement. "A man like you is a living treasure, Kael. To be honest, I’m now a bit jealous of Leone. Having you around is a blessing from the heavens."

"Hey, how about you join the Grimhowl Tribe?" Hagen asked. "I’ll give you anything you want. Your granddaughter’s name is Aria, isn’t it? What do you think of my sons? I assure you, they’re fit to marry her."

"Hahaha! I feel honored and flattered by your kind words," Kael replied. he was tempted to tell them to praise him more. But if he did, they would probably call him shameless!

Clearly, he enjoyed the attention of the two high-ranking chieftains who had asked to talk to him after he ’created’ the defensive walls that further protected the Aslan Tribe’s domain.

He knew that the two chieftains were only buttering him up because they highly sought his "miraculous powers."

Unfortunately, that power didn’t belong to him, but to his chieftain, who had already gone inside the fortress to have an early dinner.

As for Hagen marrying his granddaughter off to Marcus or Elias?

He would have been over the moon if this offer was given to him half a year ago. Kael might have even thanked his ancestors for blessing the union.

But now?

Not a chance!

What was so good about Marcus?

What was so good about Elias?

Both were just heirs of the Grimhowl Tribe.

Compared to Leone, they just didn’t make the cut.

In short, they didn’t have what it takes for Kael to nod his head and allow his granddaughter to marry into the Grimhowl Tribe.

They just lacked the qualifications!

Godwin, who was currently in disguise, also wanted to join in on the discussion. However, he understood that doing so might make things complicated later, so he simply watched with envy as Hagen and Malik attempted to poach Kael over to their side.

As for Gundar, he decided to leave the fools who were only trying to deceive each other.

With that, he went to find Leone to have dinner with him.

Then again, it was not only the chieftains who had been surprised by what happened earlier.

Those from the Ravage Tribe, especially Logan, Rasta, and Khan, were just as shocked as them!

When they suddenly grew even stronger after Logan and Leone had formed a blood pact, they felt surprised.

When Leone gave them mounts, they were also pleasantly surprised.

The three thought that they couldn’t be any more surprised than that, but it turned out that they were wrong.

When the towering walls rose from the ground, Logan understood that if he had fought against the Aslan Tribe back then, the Ravage Tribe would have been annihilated!

Leone hadn’t lied when he said that they had enough ability to wipe them all out.

"Fortunately, we chose to be their allies," Rasta muttered, voicing out the thoughts of their leader. "Logan, Khan, we must all perform well in this war. That way, Leone will owe us."

"Yes!" Khan nodded. "I still need to become that Sub-Vassal Leone mentioned. After that, I’ll become stronger!"

The Orc Warlord was quite simple minded. As long as he could become stronger, he was willing to do anything.

While those who still didn’t know about Leone’s secrets were reeling from the impressive scene of walls rising around Grimjaw Mountain, the members of the Warclaw, Grimhowl, Sandreaver, Grimfang, Redmaw, and Ironhide Tribe had pitched up their tents.

They were a mile away from the tents of the Darkmane Tribe, observing them from a distance.

Vlad was currently with Natalia, who was his sister in disguise. He was watching her cook their dinner while seated on a log beside the campfire.

The sun had just set, causing the skies to be dyed in the colors of orange and purple.

At this moment, Vlad noticed two riders heading in their direction from the Darkmane Tribe camp.

Even from afar, he recognized that the one at the lead was riding a Forest Raptor.

The guards stationed at the Warclaw Tribe camp immediately formed ranks in order to block the approaching riders.

The other tribes were also very curious about the identity of those riders, especially Ragnar, Wayne, Marcus, and Elias.

The middle-ranked chieftains, Duncan, Oswald, and Garen, had also come out after the news reached their ears.

When the Raptor was only a few meters away from the guards that had taken out their weapons, it finally stopped its advance.

"I only came here to chat for a bit," Travis said with a smile. "Why is everyone so hostile?"

"Travis?" Ragnar frowned. "What are you doing here?"

"I’m sure I mentioned why I am here a while ago," Travis replied. "Are you deaf?"

Bertram, who had followed his Young Lord, hurriedly bowed his head to apologize to Ragnar for the rudeness of his Young Lord.

"So you came here to chat then," Wayne smiled faintly. "What do you want to chat about?"

"What else?" Travis arched an eyebrow in response. "About the upcoming war."

He then scanned the faces of the people that had gathered. Soon, he noticed that the chieftains of the high-ranking tribes weren’t present.

Truth be told, his father had sent him there to check if any of the chieftains were around. If they were, then he was supposed to tell them of his father’s request for a private talk regarding some important matters.

"Where are your fathers?" Travis asked. "My father wishes to speak to them."

"They’re not here," Wayne answered. "They’re still at the Aslan Tribe."

"Oh?" Travis glanced at Grimjaw Mountain after hearing Wayne’s answer. "Why? Could it be... they’ve decided to take the Aslan Tribe’s side in the war?"

"Of course not." Marcus scoffed. "They merely want to spectate the war firsthand, and the Grimjaw Mountain has the best vantage point to watch it all happen."

"I see." Travis nodded in understanding before shifting his attention toward Bertram. "Go back and tell my father that the chieftains are not here. Also, tell him that I will eat dinner here and will return after a few hours."

"Understood, Young Lord." Bertram bowed before mounting his horse to return to the Darkmane Tribe.

The three middle-ranked chieftains looked a bit disgruntled by Travis’ attitude. He didn’t even pay any attention to them, acting as if they were invisible.

They were tempted to tell the young man what happened to Darkmane City out of spite, but held back to heed their promise to Leone about keeping it a secret.

’Let’s see how long you and your father can act arrogant,’ Duncan sneered internally.

Oswald and Garen were of the same mind as they looked at Travis in contempt.

Meanwhile, Travis ignored everyone and shifted his attention toward Vlad, who hid behind Natalia.

"Vlad, you’re very close with Leone, right?" Travis asked.

"I-I am not afraid of you!" Vlad replied while peeking out of Natalia’s back, which made the young lady bite her lips to stop herself from giggling. "Leone and I are best friends! If you hurt me, he will avenge me!"

"Best friends?" Travis arched an eyebrow. "Fine. I’ll believe you... for now."

Without another word, Travis walked toward Vlad, ignoring the gazes locked onto his body.

Around two weeks had passed since he left the Aslan Tribe. For that reason, he wanted to know any news about them to get up to date.

Since Vlad was close to Leone, perhaps he could get some information about the young chieftain, who had secretly made a deal with him.

He didn’t know if the Darkmane Tribe would attack the Aslan Tribe when morning came. However, Travis was sure of one thing.

The warriors needed rest in order to calm their minds and hearts after enduring the hellish journey toward Grimjaw Mountain.

Due to Otto’s indiscriminate attacks, all the warriors would jolt even from the faintest noise.

Some of them were even thinking that tonight might be their last night, and that they would never again open their eyes to see the next sunrise.

Fortunately for them, the archer of death was currently resting to recover his strength from the long journey.

Because tomorrow, a war never seen before in the Borderlands might finally begin.
