Gong Yool wasn’t built to deal with crazy bastards, so he didn’t know why he kept getting entangled with a few.

First, it was Song Moonho.

And, now, it was Hwang Yejun.

"The System said Chu Wonhee could turn back time?" Hwang Yejun asked sharply. "Why is that damned thing talking to you when it kept ignoring all my calls?"

Isn’t it because you kept cursing and threatening the System?

Of course, Gong Yool didn’t say that out loud since he treasured his life.

Fortunately, the System sent another message.

[The System will now hand out the mission that each one of you— now referred to as the System’s Favored Children— has to complete for the plan to succeed.]

Gong Yool was about to read the message out loud.

But he noticed that Hwang Yejun was already looking at the Status Window...

... as if Hwang Yejun was reading the message.

"Uh, can you read it, Hwang Yejun-ssi?"

As expected, Hwang Yejun just ignored Gong Yool.

"It’s not on official records, but our Yejun could see other people’s Status Windows," Song Moonho explained with a sly smile on his face. "We don’t know exactly how much he could read from other people’s Status Windows, but I guess it’s enough to give him a big advantage when fighting against enemies he’s facing for the first time."

Gong Yool didn’t know that because he wasn’t really interested in Hunters before.

I just wanted to live a quiet life, but here we are now.

If only he ignored Graham and Ahn Kisoo back then...

Gong Yool flinched when Hwang Yejun smirked.

Fortunately, Hwang Yejun vanished after leaving that threat.

Only then could Gong Yool finally breathe again.

"Hwang Yejun-ssi looks easy on the eye, but he’s too damn scary."

"So, you find our Yejun handsome?"

Gong Yool only realized that he said his previous comment out loud when Song Moon responded.

The old man, for some reason, was smiling in a scary way.

It wasn’t the ahjussi’s usual sarcastic smile.

I can’t explain it, but he looks annoyed.

"What does it matter if I find Hwang Yejun-ssi handsome?" Gong Yool asked, confused. "Why do you look offended?"

Song Moonho knitted his eyebrows. "I look offended?"

"You do."

"That’s... interesting."

"Ahjussi, you’re acting weird," Gong Yool said, slightly sliding away from the old man. "And why do you keep acting like we’re close?"

"Are we not close enough to be considered as friends?"

"Have some conscience, Ahjussi. You’re too old to be my "friend."

Song Moonho just laughed.

Damn.

This Ahjussi’s laugh really sounds expensive.

Gong Yool was about to tell Song Moonho that he was returning to his room, but he stopped when the Status Window suddenly popped up in front of him.

Seriously, why does this thing keep appearing when I’m not even an Awakened Person?

He did spent time with the System, but it was still annoying since he was just a Civilian.

[Civilian Gong Yool, you must say goodbye to your current status.]

"What do you mean by that?"

[Congratulations! The System has finally gathered enough points to upgrade your status. But neither being a Hunter nor a Guide suits you.]

That was right, but Gong Yool still felt a bit offended.

[After all, the role that we chose for you requires you to travel to a different world.]

The System was planning to send him to another world?

Song Moonho wasn’t happy that the System sounded like it had already made a decision, that his opinion didn’t matter at all.

Song Moonho turned to Gong Yool who was busy yelling at his Status Window.

Suddenly, he was no longer upset.

"Yool-ssi."

"What?"

Song Moonho smiled at the grumpy man. "Please take care of me from now on~"

Yejun ignored the Status Window that popped up in front of him.

The System sent a long message explaining what he was supposed to do now that he got that title.

But he didn’t have to read that long ass instructions.

After all, he could tell what he had to do instinctively.

Hence, Yejun went straight to the garden behind the mansion.

That garden had been turned into Chu Wonhee’s resting place.

So, it wasn’t surprising to see Yeon Soobin and Jang Semi there.

Chu Wonhee’s older half-siblings turned to Yejun with a knowing look on their faces. Yeon Soobin and Jang Semi didn’t look scared or mad.

They know, and they’re already resigned to their doomed fate.

"I don’t want to kill you in front of Chu Wonhee’s grave," Yejun said differently. "Should we move somewhere else?" 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Yes, it was Yejun’s mission to kill Yeon Soobin and Jang Semi.

Actually, it wasn’t just the two.

The ’Executioner’ must get rid of all the remaining S-Class Hunters in the world.

"We don’t mind dying for this cause," Jang Semi said in a light voice. There was no remorse in it, just full acceptance. "But let us finish our last mission first."

"It won’t take long," Yeon Soobin added. "This is for our Hee-ya, too."

How could Yejun say no to that?
