"Even now you still fail to see you are the reason for your misfortunes... Pathetic."

Adrian’s head snapped toward the source of the voice and his entire body locked instantly.

Someone was floating above him.

The moonlight behind the figure was completely blocked, turning the person into nothing more than a dark silhouette suspended in the sky. Adrian could not make out the face. He could not even tell what clothes the person wore.

Only his eyes were visible. Two burning purple eyes stared down at him.

Adrian’s lips parted slightly but no sound came out. His thoughts stalled, his breathing stopped and his body refused to move no matter how much he tried.

Fear rooted him in place so completely that even blinking felt difficult.

Meanwhile, Damian froze immediately after speaking and hi brows slowly furrowed. His nose wrinkled as disgust appeared on his face.

He stared harder at Adrian but something felt wrong about this man. It was like looking at a person and realizing their shadow moved differently.

"He is possessed." Rin spoke quietly but decisively and Damian’s eyes narrowed slightly. He was surprised but not bothered.

Honestly, after everything he had seen recently, this outcome almost made sense.

Adrian was clearly a mess and all those negative emotions he has been harboring were practically invitations.

A lonely fugitive sleeping in forests while drowning in hatred was practically free real estate. Even now Adrian clearly had no idea another existence was living inside him.

"It’s a demon elite," Rin added calmly.

Damian simply nodded at the new information like it meant nothing. He couldn’t distinguish demon ranks by instinct the way Rin could.

But he could tell one thing. Whatever was hiding within Adrian is weaker than him and that was enough. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Without changing expression, Damian casually returned his attention to Adrian. Nothing happened for a brief second but then Adrian’s feet slowly lifted from the ground.

His eyes widened instantly as his body jerked violently. Unfortunately, he was not Twenty, so Damian had no reason to be gentle.

"What?! What’s going on?!"

His legs kicked wildly while his fists swung at empty air but there was nothing to hit yet his body continued rising helplessly like something massive had grabbed him from the chest and dragged him upward.

His breathing quickened as panic spread across his face. The higher he floated, the more violent he became.

Damian and Rin could sense it. The demon sleeping within him was begining to awaken to its hosts panicked state.

Instantly something changed about Adrian. His movements became rougher and heavier as if his strength had doubled. His neck twisted strangely and his teeth clenched hard enough to grind while foam slowly gathered around the corner of his mouth.

His eyes turned completely black and tiny streaks of crimson slowly spread across the darkness.

Damian calmly pulled him higher until they were face to face. Only now could he see it clearly. Thin black veins crawled beneath Adrian’s skin while his cheeks twitched unnaturally.

His twisted smile looked wrong and the edges of his lips threatened to rip apart if stretched any further.

ROAAAAARRRR!!

A deafening roar exploded from Adrian’s mouth as dark demonic force erupted violently around him.

The forest trembled violently as trees bent under the shockwaves from his awakening. The campfire was extinguished instantly, however the moment the force surged Damian’s invisible grip tightened.

Crack!

Adrian’s body folded slightly as blood exploded from his mouth. His eyes bulged and his demonic energy collapsed instantly.

"Impossible... It can’t be!"

The thing inside Adrian roared. Its voice no longer sounded human.

It kicked violently and struggled like a mad man. Twisting and turning to the point where it threatened to dislocated its own hips. But the invisible pressure only became heavier as Damian stared at the possessed man with complete exhaustion.

He had flown all the way here to kill Adrian only to discover Adrian was already sharing his body with an idiot.

Honestly, this was disappointing and has completely ruined the vibe.

"Are all demons this stupid?" Damian asked seriously.

"Your ring?" Rin blinked.

However, Damian shook his head this time. He wasn’t taking this silly excuse again.

"Naah. This isn’t even about the ring anymore. At some point common sense should kick in. Even if I hide my strength, shouldn’t basic survival instinct tell you something is wrong when things get this bad?"

Rin looked at the struggling demon and slowly nodded.

"True."

Because at this point, qny sane person should already realize something was wrong. There was no aura or pressure yet they couldn’t resist him.

That alone should tell them they were dealing with something absurd.

Meanwhile the demon finally noticed Rin and it’s s movements paused instantly.

Confusion appeared in its eyes at first but slowly realizing dawned on it, causing its eyes to widen with shock.

It had noticed the fox from the beginning but somehow it’s mind kept forgetting it existed. The moment it took its eyes off Rin, it’s memory of him became vague.

What terrified it was because it has experienced this phenomenon before. These were companion entities only princes had.

Slowly it’s shocked expression twisted into horror.

"You... You are the prince who killed—" it’s words trailed of as disbelief swallowed the rest.

Damian immediately rolled his eyes.

Another one with those same damn lines. Seeing every demon react the same way after recognizing his identity pissed him off.

At this point Duke Haborym was becoming the most irritating achievement of his life. Especially now there was apparently a bounty attached to his name because of it.

"I wanted to make Adrian suffer but this bastard ruined everything." Damian sighed and rubbed his forehead.

Rin tilted its head and pondered silently for a moment before it shrugged Indifferently

"You can make him suffer instead." it said while staring Adrian in the eyes.

The demon’s face immediately collapsed.

How did this happen?

How did he go from enjoying the human world through another man’s body to offending the Third Prince of Hell?
