My Martial Arts Level Never Drops
Chapter 176 - 115: Re-entering
He’d discovered a few more problems recently. Without a Messenger, he had no way to communicate with his senior brother in a timely manner.
Since he was fairly certain the Mysterious Power was no longer focused on him, entering the city now shouldn’t be a major issue.
’It’s just that the city gates are hard to get through...’
A glint appeared in Qin Fang’s eyes.
However, when he left True Martial County Town, his senior brother had told him how to ask for help in a crisis.
He just had to go to the same city gate as last time, mention his senior brother to the guards, and they would help get in touch.
At this thought, Qin Fang let out a light breath, quickly finished his food, and then looked at Xile.
He didn’t know how many days this trip would take, and it wasn’t convenient for Xile to be home alone.
But after a moment’s thought, he came up with a solution.
He could just ask someone from the Nanhe Gang to help feed the dog every day.
Xile was very smart; nothing would happen to him.
With this in mind, he went into the house, packed a few things, told Xile to watch the house, and then left.
He wandered through the market for a bit, bought some bait for luring bees, and then found Yuan the Second.
When he asked Yuan the Second to help feed his dog for a couple of days, Yuan the Second was stunned for a moment, then smiled and slapped his chest, assuring him it was no problem.
His words, as the Gang Leader’s nephew, still carried a lot of weight.
After thanking him, Qin Fang went on his way.
He first went to Old Ox Back, planning to lure a bee.
But this time...
His luck was terrible!
The moment the bait reached the cave, a swarm of seven or eight Giant Bees poured out and completely surrounded it. The ones that couldn’t squeeze in just flew around in the air—after all, they were enormous.
Qin Fang jumped in fright and decisively dropped the rope!
Then, he watched as the Giant Bees dragged the meat, along with the rope, into the cave.
Qin Fang watched, dumbfounded.
His face twitched.
’Right, the first three times went relatively smoothly. I forgot that the Giant Bees in that cave... number in the tens of thousands!’
If just a few more had been hovering at the entrance, it wouldn’t have been just one or two that came out.
After hesitating for a moment, Qin Fang sighed.
"Forget it. I’ll come back and check again later."
There was no way to try luring another one; he had only prepared one set of rope and bait.
Shaking his head, Qin Fang, having failed to lure a bee for the first time, descended from Old Ox Back.
He let out a light breath and composed himself.
’Luring bees was inherently risky.’
’Today I just came back empty-handed. It’s good enough that nothing bad happened.’
’Worst case, I’ll just come back next time.’
He got his bearings and headed in the direction of True Martial.
To get from Old Ox Back to True Martial, one had to pass through the area of Fishermen’s. When he arrived, he instinctively paused, looking down at Fisherman City from the high mountain road.
Looking closer, he noticed that the crowds in Fisherman City were much smaller than before. The market was deserted even in broad daylight, though he did see a group of people chatting idly out of boredom at the market stalls.
’Xiao Qi said that a group of Water Pirates who’d come ashore are managing Fishermen’s now.’
’These Water Pirates, accustomed to robbing people, clearly didn’t understand the concept of long-term sustainability. They took a heavy cut, and if they saw someone earning too much, they would even chase them down to rob and kill them...’
’After word got out, who would be stupid enough to come here?’
’This kind of short-sighted approach, draining the pond to get all the fish, would never allow Fisherman City to thrive...’
’If this continues, this perfectly good market will probably be ruined by this gang of Water Pirates.’
’But...’
Qin Fang’s gaze finally landed on one of the buildings. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
His Eye Power was astonishing now. Even from several hundred meters away, he could faintly make out the sign hanging on it.
It was Ganlu Hall.
But with fewer people in Fisherman City now, Ganlu Hall’s business had also been greatly affected.
’I wonder if someone will show up later to take care of these Water Pirates.’
’After all, their methods were undoubtedly ruining things for that Mysterious Power.’
A cold glint appeared in Qin Fang’s eyes.
Letting out a light breath, he didn’t linger any longer and continued on his way.
A short while later, he arrived at the mountain hollow where he had encountered the monster in the rain.
He took a look and found that the thatched hut was still there, but it had completely collapsed into a ruin.
And the bodies here had all disappeared.
That made sense. It had been about half a month since then; the Mysterious Power must have dealt with it long ago.
’It must have been the Mysterious Power that collected the bodies.’
’If a passerby had discovered them... rumors of the monster would have surely spread like wildfire by now.’
After watching for a while, Qin Fang didn’t linger and continued his journey to True Martial.
Fortunately, he had run this mountain path once before with Monkey. This time, however, Qin Fang was alone and pushed his speed to the limit.
His Physique was growing stronger and stronger, making him faster and faster. He crossed mountains and ridges as if they were level ground.
Just six hours later, he could already see the thick city walls of True Martial County in the distance.
Dusk was falling. Qin Fang had arrived at the same city gate he had used the previous two times he left the city.
Watching the endless stream of people coming and going, he saw the on-duty constables would check the Identity of any unfamiliar face...
Qin Fang shook his head helplessly.
’I can only wait.’
Before he knew it, the sky had grown completely dark, and the city gate had become quiet.
The city gates were always closed at night.
Qin Fang saw many of the constables leave. He let out a light breath, then walked down from the mountain path and approached the city gate.
The constable on duty was about to close the gate. When he saw Qin Fang, he frowned and sized him up. Just as he was about to speak, Qin Fang cupped his hands and said, "Officer, I have some business with Chief Zhou Xing at the Government Office. Could I trouble you to pass on a message for me?"
As he spoke, he took a small step forward and pressed a piece of crushed silver into the other man’s hand.
The man’s expression was stunned for a moment. Feeling the object in his hand, he squinted, weighed it slightly. ’At least two taels?’
His expression unchanging, he narrowed his eyes and asked, "Who are you?"
"Just say someone is looking for him. I’ll wait at the gate. Thank you for your trouble, Officer."
Qin Fang took two steps back and said with a smile.
The man’s eyes flickered, and then he nodded. "Wait here."
With that, he closed the city gate.
Only after turning around did the constable glance at the silver in his palm, a look of delight appearing on his face. Two taels of silver was almost equivalent to half a month’s salary for him.
In high spirits, he discreetly tucked the silver into his robe and then said, "Hey fellas, I’ve got to take care of something. Be back in a bit, you guys watch the gate."
The few other constables on duty with him stretched lazily, paying him no mind. The constable then prepared to go inform Zhou Xing.
’The guy didn’t even enter the city. I’m just delivering a message, no big deal.’
He had just left the city gate and rounded a few corners, heading for the Government Office Entrance, when a voice called out.
"Sun Peng, aren’t you supposed to be on gate duty today? Where are you off to?"
The constable named Sun Peng flinched. He turned his head, and his heart sank.
He quickly turned around and bowed. "Greetings, Chief An."
