No matter how you looked at it, Ningning was outstanding. Jiangg Yao knew more than just her public-facing side, but then again, who was really as gentle and placid in private as they appeared on the surface?

As long as she kept up appearances, she was the ideal wife every man dreamed of pursuing. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

She was educated, knowledgeable, and had a good personality. She was considerate, and most importantly, sensible and discreet, always taking other people’s feelings into account.

A woman like that was what people dreamed of.

Putting others aside, Jiangg Yao herself had considered spending the rest of her life with her sister before she met Chen Yuan—as long as neither of them got married, her sister would be an absolutely model partner.

Even though she could be grumpy, had a penchant for hitting people, and was a bit of a control freak, these flaws were insignificant compared to her virtues.

’And then there’s me.’

Jiangg Yao clenched her small fists. Besides being a little multi-talented, she couldn’t seem to find any other good qualities in herself.

’Dammit...’

’How can I one-up my sister? What are my strengths?’

’Is it just that I’m a good little simp? That’s just pathetic.’

Of course, the others had no idea what was going through Yaoyao’s mind. They had all eaten together and were now getting ready to leave the cafeteria. Jiangg Yao proactively started helping Ningning clear the table.

Jiangg Ning was momentarily puzzled. Why had her little sister suddenly become so diligent?

But the next second, Chen Yuan turned to leave.

Yaoyao dropped the chopsticks in her hand and chased after him.

"Hey—"

"Sis, I’m gonna walk Chen Yuan back to his dorm first! Remember to bring the dishes back, I’ll wash them when we get home," Jiangg Yao shouted loudly from a dozen paces away, putting on an act.

’Wash the dishes, my ass... It’s not like we don’t have a dishwasher.’

Jiangg Ning narrowed her eyes, thinking to herself that her sister was quite the actress, saying it all for Chen Yuan’s benefit.

She muttered under her breath as she cleared the rest of the dishes.

...

Outside the cafeteria, a cool breeze happened to pick up. Clouds drifted across the less-than-clear sky, obscuring parts of the sun. The wind on the sweat beading their cheeks instantly made their steps feel a little lighter.

Everyone took a refreshing breath of fresh air.

The wind billowed Jiangg Yao’s white dress as she followed closely behind Chen Yuan. Strands of her hair danced in the wind, even lifting her bangs to reveal her fair face.

Though she furrowed her brow slightly, it didn’t detract from her flawless beauty.

It was almost the same dress, but it gave off a different feeling. Twins really were a strange phenomenon. On Jiangg Ning, the dress looked poised and elegant; on her, it appeared youthful and bright.

"I’m going to the men’s dorm, are you following me there too?" With every step, Chen Yuan could feel Jiangg Yao’s hand tugging on the hem of his shirt. Countless students passing by recognized Jiangg’s face, and their gazes toward him were filled with scrutiny.

Honestly, the pressure was immense.

It felt like he was being watched wherever he went.

Jiangg Yao noticed this too. A little slow on the uptake, she pulled the mask from her wrist onto her face and made an "OK" sign.

"There, that should do it," she said. "I’ll just walk you back to your dorm, then I’ll go meet up with my sister."

"Whatever you want."

Chen Yuan started walking again, picking up his pace. Perhaps because his legs were longer, he walked a bit faster, forcing Jiangg Yao to hurry and keep up with a series of small steps.

Otherwise, her tugging would pull his shirt taut and make it catch the wind.

"Slow down, Little Master."

She had blurted it out in her haste.

Chen Yuan froze on the spot. He turned his head and glared at Yaoyao.

"Don’t just call me that, we’re in public."

"Oh, oh... I forgot," Jiangg Yao apologized sheepishly, glancing over at his roommates. Luckily, they didn’t seem to have heard. "My bad. I’ll save it for when we’re in private."

Those two words, "Little Master," were not something just anyone could say.

It was a term of endearment.

Even more embarrassing than "hubby" and "wifey."

It was a bit much.

"You can’t call me that in private, either," Chen Yuan warned fiercely.

For some reason, his face flushed red in agitation. He probably found it socially suicidal.

The sweet nothings couples shared were hard to bring out in public. As far as he was concerned, calling him "babe" outside was already pushing the limits of mushiness.

"I won’t, I won’t. I was out of line." Jiangg Yao stood at attention, holding up a small hand as if making a pledge.

"That’s more like it."

Chen Yuan breathed a sigh of relief and continued walking toward the dorm.

From Cafeteria Number One, the path went past three academic buildings to a secondary road that ran along the sports field. Crossing that road, the men’s and women’s dorms were clearly separated from one another.

Meanwhile, Liu Nan and Quan Yafeng were discussing where to hang out after their afternoon class.

Chen Yuan, his mind filled with thoughts, didn’t feel like chiming in and just walked in silence.

Jiangg Yao, perhaps feeling a bit bored, let her gaze sweep over the surrounding students before turning back to Chen Yuan.

"All the guys here are just average. None of them are as handsome as you."

Chen Yuan glanced at her.

"When are you moving back? I miss you a little."

"Not moving back."

"Then how about you tell me your new address?"

"Why would I tell you?"

"So I can come find you and steal a little kiss... ah, no, I mean, so I can tell you how much I miss you~"

Seeing Chen Yuan’s face darken mid-sentence, Jiangg Yao quickly corrected herself with a laugh to cover it up.

"Don’t say things like that anymore, Jiangg Yao. There’s nothing between us anymore, and besides..."

He was only halfway through his sentence when Jiangg Yao cut him off.

She simply said, "I know," and didn’t let him continue, leaving Chen Yuan with no choice but to sigh.

...

The walk wasn’t long. Jiangg Yao saw him to the entrance of the men’s dorm, waving goodbye to him amidst the envious gazes of the other guys until his figure completely disappeared down the long corridor.

Only then did she reluctantly turn to leave.

Jiangg Yao pulled out her phone to contact her sister while fanning herself with her hand—she had forgotten her small portable fan, which she’d stuffed in her bag after class.
