My Online Girlfriend Has a Twin Sister
Chapter 373 - 244: Stupid Women Deserve to Be Deceived (Part 2)
Furious and embarrassed, she pounded on the sofa.
"Let go... You’re so annoying."
"What did I do now? Am I just supposed to sit here and let you kick me? I don’t owe you anything."
"Then why aren’t you comforting me? Why is it that when my sister gets mad, you want to go comfort her... This isn’t fair! You only want to comfort her, you only like her. You should just spend the rest of your life with her! I... I’m never speaking to you again."
Tears instantly welled up in Jiangg Yao’s eyes, swirling as if they were about to spill down her face at any moment. Her voice choked with sobs. "Haven’t I been good enough to you? I’ve given just as much as my sister. I’m not asking you to play favorites, but there should at least be some basic fairness, right?"
Chen Yuan froze. Staring at the emotional Yaoyao, his brain short-circuited again.
’There’s already one crying over there, how is this one starting to cry too?’
’Goddamnit, two absolute prima donnas...’
"I haven’t gone to comfort her yet, have I?" he said defensively.
"Go, then! Hurry up and go! Go hug your precious Ningning."
Jiangg Yao gave him a few hard shoves, her lips pursed in a pout. When she saw she couldn’t move Chen Yuan, she shot to her feet and started walking toward the door, wiping her tears. But a torrential downpour was still raging outside. If she went out, she’d be soaked and was sure to catch a nasty cold.
Left with no choice,
Chen Yuan quickly grabbed her and pushed her back down onto the sofa.
"What are you doing?" she cried even more wretchedly. "You won’t even let me leave? Are you going to force me to watch you comfort her? WAAAH—"
Chen Yuan was just about to speak.
"SOB SOB SOB—"
From the balcony, the pitch of Jiangg Ning’s crying rose, drifting over in a continuous, miserable wail.
Chen Yuan looked left, then right. The mournful sound of crying surrounded him in perfect, inescapable 360-degree stereo.
He instinctively covered his ears, but it was useless.
This psychic assault was horrifying, tugging at his eardrums, piercing his skull, and fraying his every nerve.
’Living with a pair of unbelievably beautiful twins—is this a dream come true?’
’No, it’s absolute torture.’
’He was going to lose his mind.’
After a few moments, their crying hadn’t let up in the slightest. In fact, it threatened to escalate into full-blown wailing. They were even competing over who could cry louder, their childishness on par with eight-year-old girls. Chen Yuan felt his head throbbing as if it were twice its normal size. In despair, he tilted his head back and stared at the ceiling.
"Please, stop crying. I’m begging you," he pleaded with Jiangg Yao.
"Now you... you won’t even let me cry? Only Ningning is allowed to cry. You don’t stop her from doing anything, but you disapprove of everything I do... What’s the point of living...? Don’t touch me."
"I don’t! Where did you get the idea I’m biased toward her? It’s completely baseless. Even back when we were dating and you told me you had two personalities, I never treated either of you differently, did I?"
"You didn’t?" Jiangg Yao’s eyes were red-rimmed and her lips were pursed, her gaze filled with suspicion.
"I swear to God. It’s even thundering outside, and I’m not the least bit afraid, because I’m telling the absolute truth."
"Hmph."
Jiangg Yao grabbed a throw pillow, put it on her lap, and began twisting its corners, turning her head away to ignore Chen Yuan’s explanation.
Chen Yuan could only shift his position to face her again.
Jiangg Yao glared at him with her bloodshot eyes and turned her head away again. Chen Yuan simply moved to face her once more.
"Are you trying to be annoying...? You’re so irritating! Why are you so irritating? I’m going to kill you!"
A flurry of light fists rained down on his shoulders, not hurting him in the slightest. It was clear Jiangg Yao couldn’t bring herself to hit him with any real force. Her tone was more petulant than resentful, the anger in it having faded considerably. Though her mouth said he was annoying, her actions were filled with a playful coquettishness that seemed to be asking him to pester her even more. Women, he thought, never say what they really mean.
"Alright, alright. I haven’t held a grudge for all the mistakes you’ve made, so let’s both take a step back. You stop crying and just let me have some peace and quiet tonight. We just need to get through the next few hours, and everything will be fine."
He brought over the tissues, and Jiangg Yao snatched them away with a WHOOSH. She gently dabbed at the corners of her eyes.
"Then let me ask you this," she said seriously. "Do you like Ningning, or do you like me?"
"Excellent question," Chen Yuan said with a slight smile. "Sorry, but I don’t like either of you."
"I meant back when we were dating, not now."
Jiangg Yao clearly had no intention of letting him off the hook that easily. She was determined to get an answer out of him tonight, so she added a condition that left him no room for escape.
"You can’t possibly say you didn’t like either of us back when we were dating. Hmph."
She stared at Chen Yuan with wide, hopeful eyes, scrutinizing him for any telltale signs of a lie and eagerly awaiting his answer.
"I liked you both."
"What do you mean, you ’liked us both’...? Aren’t you a scumbag? So fickle."
"How does that make me a scumbag? From the very beginning, I thought you were one person. What I liked was the combination of you both, the sum of your good qualities. So, saying I liked you both is very precise," Chen Yuan said after a moment of thought. "And saying I don’t like either of you now is also very precise. Because ever since I found out you’re twins, I feel like your individual flaws have become more and more apparent."
"Then... did you like me more, or did you like her more?"
"I’d like it more if you two were a little farther away from me."
"Answer properly," Jiangg Yao said, raising her hand as if to hit him. But after a moment’s hesitation, she lowered it gently. "Fine, I won’t hit you. Now, Little Master, be serious and tell me."
The change in how she addressed him was a clear sign that most of her anger had faded. A moment ago, she had been calling him by his full name. It just went to show that as long as Chen Yuan paid her some mind, was willing to humor her, and even just let her vent, Jiangg Yao was actually quite easy to deal with.
