Chapter 266: Chapter 126 Destiny of Menma

Chen Ze twitched the corner of his mouth, this was the first time he had seen a question mark appear next to his head... oh no, three of them.

But they were gone now, which made Chen Ze roughly understand the meaning of this animation effect.

As is well known, animation effects are exaggerated, illogical, ruthless, and hopeless.

Take Tom and Jerry, the cherished childhood memories of many, for example; if this were the real world, Tom and Jerry would have died countless times.

"So... can I now split a Big Tree with a crotch strike?" Chen Ze remembered that classic scene of Tom and couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

But as much as he thought about it, Chen Ze was absolutely not willing to put it to the test, as the thought alone was too painful.

"What did you just say?" Chen Ze turned his head and looked at Betty.

Betty blinked, then had a sudden realization, smacking her palm with her fist.

"Lord Stan would like to add another ten orders of Buffet," Betty recalled Mr. Stan’s request and quickly informed Chen Ze.

"Okay, no problem," Chen Ze nodded, then picked up the cookware and planned to continue preparing the Buffet.

However, Chen Ze had a question in his mind: how long does this animation effect last?

If it’s for a lifetime, then wouldn’t I be totally screwed?

Chen Ze expressionlessly picked up the question mark that fell into the flour, this animation effect was really a bit stomach-churning. Whenever there was a question, a question mark would appear and then fall down.

"So this is why Deadpool can complete games talking through speech bubbles?" Chen Ze smiled, then suddenly had a bold idea.

"I remember... in animations, stretching out your arms and such is no problem at all, right?" Chen Ze tentatively stretched out his hand, then thought about elongating it.

Then, Chen Ze was amazed to see his hand continuously extending and then touching the opposite wall.

"Tsk tsk, I feel like I’m becoming less and less human." Chen Ze withdrew his hand, touched his arm, and found no changes; it was still flesh and blood and warm to the touch.

"So..." Chen Ze began to concentrate and quickly worked on the Buffet in front of him.

Sure enough, just as Chen Ze expected, it was as if a ring of hands appeared around him, significantly increasing the speed at which he was cooking.

"Betty, come in and serve the dishes." Chen Ze became increasingly satisfied. This animation effect was really quite nice, and he even felt it was invincible.

Even if he was subjected to a fatal attack, Chen Ze just needed to blink his eyes to revive, completely unharmed.

"Eek~ Manager, are you using all those hands to deal with the loneliness when Lady Lafra isn’t here~" Betty rubbed her arms and then looked at Chen Ze strangely.

After all, that circle of arms around Chen Ze was truly astonishing, and Betty had only seen multi-armed demons possessing such ability.

"Don’t talk nonsense, just hurry up and serve the dishes," Chen Ze clapped his hands, and with a thought, all the extra hands disappeared.

Chen Ze took a deep breath. With the help of these hands, he was confident that today he would be able to prepare all of the skewers.

"Menma, I’ve already told you, why do you still want to come here?" Suki Umita blocked the door with a helpless look, truly at a loss as to why Menma was so fond of this restaurant.

"Hmm~ Menma doesn’t know either, but it always seems like a great place, and it’s also delicious!" Menma swung her legs happily with a delighted expression.

"But..." Suki Umita suddenly found himself at a loss for words; Menma’s pitiful expression conjured up memories of that day.

That day which changed everything for the members of Super Peace Busters, the day that led him to continuously choose to run away.

"Sigh, alright, just this once," Suki Umita said with resignation, picking up his wallet before pushing open the door with Menma.

"Welcome to the Dream Restaurant, dear guests~" Betty greeted them with a smile.

Chen Ze wiped the sweat from his forehead and stepped out to take a look, then he saw Suki Umita and Menma.

"..." Stan watched Menma in silence. This little girl wasn’t human, but she was also different from ordinary ghosts; her existence was more unique.

Menma shivered, hugging herself subconsciously as the stern-faced uncle gave her chills.

Suki Umita frowned at Stan before stepping in front of Menma.

"What would you like to eat, young guests?" Chen Ze poked his head out, all smiles, and asked Suki Umita and Menma.

He was still cutting tentacles in the kitchen, now able to multitask effortlessly thanks to the effects of the animation.

"Just... just a curry pork chop rice, please. Menma, what do you want?" Suki Umita glanced warily at Stan before answering Chen Ze’s question.

"Menma wants the same as Umita," Menma said in a timid voice, still looking nervously at Stan.

"All right," Chen Ze nodded, then returned to the kitchen.

"Does he know?" Stan suddenly asked, leaving Betty confused.

Suki Umita was also bewildered, but Menma cast a strange glance at Stan.

"You’re going to disappear someday; is this really okay?" Stan said calmly, finishing his last bite of Buffet before standing up and placing a Magic Space Bag on the table.

"Mr. Stan, are you leaving?" Betty hurried over to him.

"Yes, this is for the meal. The manager will be pleased." Stan nodded, taking another glance at Menma.

Looking at this little soul, Stan was reminded of memories from when he was once human.

The treacherous woman who betrayed him for a Meditation Magic Book, the one who offered him warmth, only to deliver a fatal blow.

"Bittersweet... the sweetness... of love," Stan said, looking at Suki Umita and Menma before leaving. He planned to return to his castle.

"What’s this uncle talking about?" Suki Umita wondered, looking at Menma. What did this eccentric uncle mean?

"Menma doesn’t know either..." Menma murmured, head bowed, not continuing.

Chen Ze glanced around the restaurant, unsure of what Stan had experienced to say such things to Menma and Suki Umita.

But Chen Ze was certain that Stan absolutely knew Menma’s situation; so, was her fate truly unavoidable?

"Squid jerky... squid ink..." Chen Ze sighed. It seemed that the inevitable would still happen, Menma would become enlightened, and then forever, forever leave behind a scar.

"Tsk, love." Chen Ze thought of Lafra, and his mood instantly brightened.
