My Restaurant's Guests are All Abnormal
Chapter 289 - One Hundred and Forty-Nine: Fast and Faster
Chen Ze and Betty sat in front of the cabinet while Hastur was still outside eating; it seemed like he would need a while longer, so Chen Ze and Betty could have lunch first.
"I’m digging in~" Betty couldn’t wait to pick up her chopsticks, then grabbed a slice of duck meat, dipped it in some sweet bean sauce, and put it in her mouth.
"This is so delicious!" Betty’s eyes were practically turning into stars; it was obvious that this food really suited her taste.
Or should it be said that every kind of food suited Betty’s taste?
After all, Betty wasn’t a particularly picky eater, so as long as it wasn’t some inedible dark cuisine, she would basically finish it.
Chen Ze also picked up a piece of duck, put it into his mouth, and chewed slowly.
The duck meat was tender; even though it was roasted, it had a fruity wood aroma and a soft texture which made it particularly delicious.
Chen Ze contentedly paired the duck meat with some rice and ate them together, then dipped some sliced green onions in tofu, which also tasted quite good.
"Eh? Manager, what’s this?" Betty curiously looked at Chen Ze; she hadn’t seen green onions before, or at least not this kind.
"Green onions, they are eaten with roasted duck," Chen Ze said as he took another bite of green onion. Green onions paired with roasted duck were quite nice, and Chen Ze was also very satisfied; of course, spring onions would work too.
"Eh? Then I’ll try it too," Betty picked up a green onion, glanced cautiously at Chen Ze, and upon seeing that he had no unusual reactions, she tentatively dipped it in the sweet bean sauce and took a bite.
"Hmm... not quite tasty, it’s a bit spicy," Betty shook her head, the green onion wasn’t to her liking.
Chen Ze didn’t mind, as not everyone likes to eat green onions, just as not everyone can eat cilantro.
Those who love cilantro and those who hate it are often at two extremes; those who love it would even use cilantro to make cookies, and those who hate it would vomit at the slightest taste.
Different strokes for different folks.
"Manager, let’s settle the bill," Hastur patted his stomach satisfied; the roasted duck was quite substantial, and combined with the chestnut rice served in ice, it filled Hastur up nicely.
"Sure thing, let’s settle with this today," Chen Ze immediately went out, no kidding, an opportunity like this should not be missed.
It was not often Hastur came by, and he had also shown his ability to control time, so Chen Ze definitely intended to profit from Hastur.
"Don’t need ingredients?" Hastur was a bit puzzled as He was about to take out some prepared ingredients from His own spatial pocket.
"No need, no need, this time you can pay with time acceleration," Chen Ze said with a grin, revealing his true intentions.
"Time acceleration? Sure, what do you want to accelerate?" Hastur didn’t mind, a mere time acceleration, it was nothing challenging.
"Then come in here with me, it’s this pot," Chen Ze led Hastur into the kitchen and pointed at the master stock pot sitting on the stove.
"This pot... until what time do you want to accelerate it?" Hastur lifted the lid to take a look and then asked Chen Ze.
"Let’s start with a week first, but will it affect the soup?" Chen Ze was a bit worried; if the soup dried out after a time acceleration, that would be troublesome.
"It will, after all, you’re not adding water, which would not comply with the law of conservation of energy," Hastur nodded seriously, while Chen Ze looked at Hastur with an expression as if He were looking at an alien.
What is this? I who received compulsory education from childhood and remain a staunch materialist, am now being lectured on the law of energy conservation by a Mythical creature like Hastur?
Chen Ze had always heard that Mr. Newton didn’t involve himself with matters of the East, but he never expected Hastur to take up the banner of science.
With this in mind, Chen Ze thought it might be a pretty good idea to let Hastur play with a city simulation game in a negative dimension.
After all, if he let his own girlfriend do it, it would still affect her prestige, but if he let Hastur do it...
"I plan to conduct a social experiment in the negative dimension, completely abolish slavery, and usher in modernization on the double. Who’s in favor? Who’s against?" Hastur slammed the table and looked at the big shots of the negative dimension seated around him.
"Uh... I object!" An unnamed warrior stood up, then was killed by Hastur, who hung his soul up to roast.
"Agreed, agreed," 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"I fully support your grand vision!" And then the negative dimension was left with only a bunch of sycophants.
"How about this; I’ll leave you a Magic Circle, which you can use to double or quadruple the speed of time," Hastur apparently didn’t notice Chen Ze’s expression as He found a solution.
However, after trying it out, He embarrassingly found that He couldn’t apply the time acceleration Magic Circle to this brine pot.
"So, give me a vessel, not from your restaurant," Hastur looked helplessly at Chen Ze, the restaurant’s cookware was all as hard as iron.
"Alright then, would this do?" Chen Ze took out a chicken-egg-sized red gemstone from the cupboard.
"It’ll do." Hastur took it, held it in His hand for a moment, and then placed it on the stove.
"There you go, press once for Double Speed, twice for Quadruple Speed, and three times to turn it off," Hastur clapped His hands, a simple matter.
"Great, thanks a lot," Chen Ze was satisfied, he pressed it twice, and then he saw the bubbles in the brine pot bubbling up rapidly.
"By the way, I wanted to ask you if you know any way to make a man wish he was dead rather than alive?" Hastur was about to leave when He suddenly turned back to Chen Ze.
Chen Ze was utterly confused; wasn’t Hastur an Ancient Ruler? Logically, He should know more about how to torment someone than Chen Ze, so why was He suddenly asking him?
"I heard that humans excel at infighting and are the most cruel when they betray their own kind, so I wanted to hear your opinions," Hastur seemed to see the confusion on Chen Ze’s face and added another line.
"Ahem... Where did you hear such rumors? I’m not that kind of person, but what happened, exactly?" Chen Ze was a bit curious, then picked up the lemon water and took a slow sip.
"It’s really nothing much, just a man trying to hit on me," Hastur said calmly.
"Pfft!" Chen Ze almost spat out the water.
"Cough... Can you repeat that?" Chen Ze felt he might have misheard.
"I said, there’s a man trying to hit on me," Hastur answered again, and this time Chen Ze heard it very clearly.
"If you don’t understand, I can try explaining it in another way; it’s like, spring has arrived, and it’s time for..." Hastur was the picture of calm.
"Stop, stop, I have absolutely no interest in how you’d explain that term," Chen Ze quickly cut off Hastur’s explanation.
