My Space Connects to the Apocalyptic World
Chapter 109: More Involved in Your Life
Chi Wan was amused to see Qiangzi. Ever since she’d been able to see what was happening on Li Xingye’s side, she’d become quite familiar with the few people who frequently "appeared on screen."
In her mind, she was already "acquainted" with Qiangzi and the others; it was just that they couldn’t see her.
So she teased, "Did Brother Qiang finally win over Sister Qianyu? He’s so cheerful every time I see him."
Li Xingye chuckled softly, but before he could answer, Qiangzi, who was standing beside him, stared at him as if he’d seen a ghost. "Boss, am I hearing things? How come I hear a girl’s voice?"
Chi Wan and Li Xingye both froze, stunned. "Brother Qiang can hear my voice?!" "Brother Qiang can hear Wanwan’s voice?!"
Qiangzi finally realized he hadn’t been hearing things and immediately understood that Chi Wan was the Space God.
He was overjoyed. "You must be Wanwan, right? Oh man, that’s me, that’s me! You’re just as smart as I’d expect from the boss’s favorite girl. You could tell right away that I finally won over Qianyu, hehehe..."
Li Xingye: ...
Chi Wan, on the other hand, started chatting enthusiastically with Qiangzi. "Hi, Brother Qiang! I’ve seen you all before. You just couldn’t hear my voice. I wonder why you can suddenly hear me today. Anyway, congratulations to you and Sister Qianyu, hahaha~"
Hearing this, Qiangzi slapped his thigh. "Hey, does this mean our boss will be able to go find you one day?! No, wait, he should just go over himself. We can’t have the two spaces merging. It would be terrible if zombies started appearing on Wanwan’s side.
"But how did you know Qianyu finally agreed to be my girlfriend? Hehe, Wanwan, you’re incredible. So, does that mean you could tell right away that the boss likes you? Just yesterday, Qianyu was saying that the boss must have confessed his feelings and succeeded, otherwise he wouldn’t have been grinning like an idiot while dragging us out to build defense lines all night."
"You probably don’t know this, right? When the boss first realized he liked you, he was so conflicted. After all, it was his first time ever liking a girl. You have no idea, back then..."
Seeing the conversation spiraling out of control, Li Xingye quickly clamped a hand over Qiangzi’s mouth. "That’s enough out of you!"
Chi Wan was cracking up at Li Xingye’s reaction, which only made her more curious about what Qiangzi was about to say.
As if sensing Chi Wan’s anticipation, Qiangzi struggled to pry Li Xingye’s hand away. He shot Li Xingye a look of profound exasperation and whispered, "Boss, it’s not my place to say, but why would you hide something like this from Wanwan? This is the kind of stuff that scores you points!"
"It’s called sharing parts of your past that she doesn’t know with your loved one. It helps her understand you better and feel more involved in your life." 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Chi Wan really wanted to say, ’Even if you’re deliberately whispering, I can still hear you, you know?’
’But I have to admit, Qiangzi really knows his stuff, huh?’
Chi Wan began to suspect that Qiangzi had played an indispensable role in Li Xingye’s rapid evolution from a complete novice in matters of the heart to the man he was today.
’Still, one thing took her completely by surprise—that a guy like Li Xingye would actually be willing to share details about his love life with Qiangzi. It was hard to tell if it was because he truly trusted Brother Qiang, or because he was also in desperate need of a good wingman.’
In any case, Qiangzi’s words seemed to have convinced Li Xingye, who finally released his hand from Qiangzi’s mouth.
But discussing this topic with Chi Wan listening in still made him a bit shy, so he had no choice but to awkwardly change the subject. "Are you done with your tasks for the day? What are you doing here looking for Sister Duan again?"
Qiangzi grinned broadly, shaking the meal container in his hand. "What else? I’m here to bring food to my girl. Qianyu always forgets to eat when she gets busy. What can you do? If I don’t look after her, who will? Right, Wanwan?"
"Speaking of which, back when we were still at the old Frenzy base, I helped the boss build a kitchen from scratch. I thought it was for the base’s use, and I was even thinking, ’Wow, the base kitchen is pretty big.’ Who knew it was also for his own girl."
After saying that, he shot a meaningful look in Li Xingye’s direction, wiggling his eyebrows. Clearly, this "suggestive glance" was meant for Chi Wan.
Chi Wan recalled how casual and nonchalant Li Xingye had been when he installed the kitchen for her. She never imagined there was this whole backstory to it and almost fell over laughing.
She readily accepted the title and asked with great interest, "Brother Qiang, you and Brother Xingye have known each other for many years, right? He’s always so gentle and mild-mannered with me, but he’s so cool when he’s killing zombies. What’s he like when he’s with you guys?"
Li Xingye started to say something, but Chi Wan cut him right off. "Brother Xingye, just let Brother Qiang tell me. I really want to know about all the parts of your life I wasn’t there for~"
How could Li Xingye refuse when she put it like that? He could only lower his head and sullenly follow Qiangzi toward Duan Qianyu’s office.
Brother Qiang was inwardly surprised that Chi Wan could handle Li Xingye with just a few words. But then he heard her slightly wheedling tone and it all made sense. ’No wonder our boss is so completely wrapped around her finger,’ he thought.
He chuckled and slapped his chest. "You’ve come to the right person!"
Of course, Qiangzi knew what Chi Wan really wanted to ask. He slung an arm over Li Xingye’s shoulder and kept walking. "Come on, come on, we can talk while we walk. I’m in a hurry to get this food to my Qianyu."
"Wanwan, you have no idea, our boss has been popular his whole life. When he was little, he was this cute but stone-faced kid who wouldn’t give anyone the time of day. It left all the older girls who were interested in him completely clueless about how to even approach him."
"Then he got a little older, and wow—he was strong, he was handsome... you have no idea how many people wanted to throw themselves at him. But our boss, he keeps to himself. He wouldn’t even spare them a glance."
"So when the boss suddenly asked me how to win a girl over, I was surprised for like, a second, before I immediately guessed the girl he liked was you, Wanwan! But you know what the most surprising part was?"
As Chi Wan listened, she pictured a young Li Xingye, busy growing up, busy fighting zombies, all while having to navigate so many covetous gazes. Her heart couldn’t help but ache for him a little.
But the end of his sentence definitely piqued her curiosity. "What? What was it?"
Having gotten the reaction he wanted, Brother Qiang said with satisfaction, "At first, I thought the boss only liked you because you’d saved him and all of us. But I was wrong. When he talked about you, he didn’t even mention the part about you saving him!"
"His heart and eyes were completely fixed on you as a person. He praised your personality, your smile, everything about you. Tsk, tsk. I knew right then and there that the boss had fallen, and he’d fallen hard!"
Li Xingye, standing on the side, could feel his ears burning from Qiangzi’s complete exposé. He tried to interrupt, "Wanwan, don’t..."
But Chi Wan’s voice floated unhurriedly into his ear. "Shh, Brother Xingye. I’m talking with Brother Qiang right now. Don’t interrupt. Be good. Otherwise, I might just have to recall a certain someone’s ’tragic past’ about how no one at the base dared to approach him because they were all so scared of him."
Li Xingye froze, instantly recalling the "underhanded" tactics he’d used back then. He didn’t dare make another sound.
