Ray lifted his gaze to stare at the skies and the thick darkness surrounding him.

"I don’t see anything bright here."

The celestial paused and blinked a few times.

The boy couldn’t actually see him, as he wasn’t currently present in the mindspace at the moment, but the celestial was facepalming himself angrily.

Heaving a heavy sigh, Ray shook his head and then turned toward the system once more.

This time, he wasn’t looking to converse with it, but to check his very last reward—the skill he had just acquired.

[Description: This skill will allow the host to transform their hands into razor-sharp claws that can rip through heavy armor and defenses. Note: Damage scales with strength.

Cost: -15 Energy per five minutes of usage.]

[Name: Halo of Protection]

[New description: Skill will create a shimmering spherical barrier of light one and a half meters all around the host, which will shield him completely from a wide range of attacks unless the strike is overwhelmingly powerful.

Cost: 20 Energy.]

[Name: Sparkshot (low level)]

[Description: This skill will allow the user to fire out a concentrated strike of lightning that can stun or damage opponents on impact.

Cost: -10 MF per strike.]

[Name: Mark]

[Skill description: This skill will allow the user to imprint his energy onto a chosen target. Usually, this skill works best after a solid promise which shouldn’t be broken at all. An aura which only the host can see will appear in the air, allowing them to keep track of their targets. Can be used to track prey or loved ones.

Cost: None. Always active all through until the prey or target dies, or the distance becomes too extreme.

[Blood Rush (Lv 1)]

[Description: Temporarily boosts the host’s speed and strength by five percent for a set period of time.

Time limit: 5 mins. Cooldown: 1 hr.]

[Name: Holy Blast Orb]

[Description: Shoot a holy orb that sends a one-meter blast in all directions, dealing pure damage of light that can burn foes.

Cost: 10 Energy.]

[Name: Static Shroud (passive)]

[Description: This skill will allow the user to create a defensive, reactive aura of electricity one meter around them which will keep enemies at bay and paralyze them when they land a hit on the user.

Cost: 15 MF for ten minutes of activity.]

"Well, these are a lot. How many months has it been since I got the system? Five... maybe six?"

Heaving a tired sigh, he lifted himself upright, standing to his feet.

Brushing his dusty hand against his pants, he suddenly felt something small yet hard poking at his palms.

’Huh?’

Digging his hand into his pocket, he pulled out the object and realized it was a small pill.

A deep crimson capsule.

The exact same item he had snatched from one of the hooked teeth of the Earth Shaker’s scythes.

Twirling the object between his fingers, he observed it a few more times.

"What is this pill? What is it used for?" he muttered, staring closely at it for some time.

"How did it even end up on that creature?"

«Well, what are you waiting for? Pop it in your mouth already,» Bruce smirked from inside the mindspace.

’Yeah, right. Like hell I would just swallow a suspicious pill I snatched off the corpse of a monster. Smart move, Bruce.’

But then, he looked back at the item with a small frown.

"But why is it even alluring? It’s like it’s calling to me or something..."

Ray didn’t know what it was, but he could feel a strange, magnetic pull toward the small capsule.

Without him even realizing it, his hand began slowly moving toward his face.

He remained entirely oblivious as the distance closed, and soon, the object was resting against his lips.

«Er... Ray? What are you doing?» Elyon’s worried voice echoed out.

But it was as if the boy were under a complete spell; he couldn’t hear anything else around him.

Before he could consciously register the action, he tossed the pill into his mouth and swallowed it whole.

Elyon looked absolutely horrified from inside the mindspace at what the youth had just done.

Several tense seconds passed in absolute, ringing silence.

Ray stood there, unshaken, unmoving... completely uninjured.

"Huh? I feel fin.... Yikes! AAAAAAAAAAARGH!"

He suddenly let out a bone-chilling scream and fell hard to his knees instantaneously.
