Chapter 293

The strikes of lightning collided with the beast, but strangely, it did little to nothing to affect it.

’Right. Lightning is weak to Earth.’

«Dumbass,» Bruce commented inwardly with a snark.

Shiiing—!

He turned around to see Trisha retrieve her sword, which was now completely encased with ice.

She was standing directly behind him, blocking a heavy scythe that he had already noticed was speeding toward his exposed back.

The ground rumbled violently beneath their feet, and bursting out of the earth were a dozen sharp earth spikes.

Trisha moved almost akin to a blur.

She didn’t wait for Ray to act; she executed the defense herself.

Her sword streaked through the air, colliding with each of the rising spikes.

She deflected each and every one of them like they were nothing, sending them crashing back to the ground while Ray darted toward the beast, who mistakenly thought that the kids were distracted.

It was desperately trying to hack at the golden lasso wrapped around its legs that wasn’t allowing it to move an inch.

But no matter how hard it struck, the restraint refused to break.

Forgetting breaking, it didn’t even look like it was going to crack at all.

Feeling the footsteps rushing toward its position, the beast quickly lifted its gaze, but there was strangely nobody in front of it. Trisha was still fully occupied by the spikes.

So, where was the silver-haired boy?

Unfortunately for the beast, it was laying face down, so it couldn’t even look up to see that the boy it sought was currently hovering directly above it with the vital help of Chloe’s telekinetic ability.

Blood was beginning to trickle down the girl’s nose as she gritted her teeth, holding the heavy weight of the boy whose hand was beginning to glow with a bright white light as a powerful orb materialized in his grasp.

Feeling the dangerous change of air above it, a long earth spear shot out of the ground with blinding speed.

It was too fast, and Ray wasn’t able to dodge the trajectory in time, so he proceeded to cancel the skill that was forming and instead crossed his forearms firmly in front of him.

He couldn’t even equip his gauntlet, which could have at least protected him from the spike to a certain level. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

The spike slammed into his forearms with painful force, but luckily, it was unable to pierce through due to Ray’s high endurance stat.

Swinging his hands violently to the side, the spike was flung away.

"Ack... I’m sorry, I can’t!" Chloe dropped her hands due to the sudden strain and pain on her meta-force, causing Ray to drop down from the air.

But even from that sudden drop, Ray didn’t fret as he watched Trisha slam the final spike to the side and immediately pounce forward, drawing all the beast’s remaining attention toward her.

[Holy Blast Orb]

Immediately, an orb made entirely out of holy light coalesced and appeared around his hand, and without hesitation, he flung the sphere, sending it flying straight toward the small crack in the beast’s armored back.

BAM! Booom—!

An explosion tore through the area as the ground cracked under the beast’s massive frame.

It wasn’t only the ground that cracked; even the thick armor was now fractured and slightly burnt.

’Two more....’ He thought.

Due to the fall, he landed directly atop the beast’s head, only for one of its scythes to shoot straight toward his face.

Springing backward nimbly, he avoided the scythe easily.

Trisha swooped in.

With a firm kick, she launched into the air and landed directly above the beast’s head—specifically targeting where Ray had just struck.

Unhesitatingly, ice surrounded her hand and she thrust it forward with unwavering force, sending a huge column of frost crashing into the exact same spot.

A low bang was heard as the column struck the beast, causing it to growl in pain as cracks spread further across its armor and shattered ice shot high into the air.

"More.... more.... moreee.... die!"

Ray was taken aback by the sheer intensity of Trisha’s words as she quickly charged her ability for another attack while a scythe flew dangerously toward her.

But she didn’t even bat an eyelid, totally consumed by the fierce determination to finish the beast off.

[Thunder Step Activated]

Ray moved with an explosive maneuver.

Lightning crackled beneath his feet, launching him forward like a bolt unchained.

His muscles coiled, his instincts sharpened, and in his grip, an orb of light swirled with divine force.

Within a fraction of a second, he cast the orb forward, sending it shooting directly toward the incoming scythe.

Bang! Booom—!

The orb detonated and immediately, the beast’s whole scythe arm was blown to pieces, while Trisha simultaneously sent another ice column crashing into the exact same weakened spot, causing more of the beast’s heavy chitin to crack and shoot into the air.

Spinning back around, another orb could be seen swirling around Ray’s hands as he launched forward with explosive speed, closing the distance just as Trisha prepared to strike the beast one last time.

But in that instance, the Earth Shaker was more than enraged.

The earth surged violently beneath its body and two dozen sharp earth spikes shot toward her with terrible speed.

Unfortunately, she didn’t notice the subterranean threat in time, and even if she had, she wouldn’t have been able to react properly as the attacks approached.

Luckily, Ray was already there.

He crouched down in front of her while instantly activating his defensive barrier.

"Trish! Ray!" Chloe shouted from her position in absolute panic.

Instantly, the spherical barrier shimmered into view around the duo.

Booom—! Boom—! Boom—!

The spikes slammed into the barrier with a reverberating force, but Ray didn’t care about the impact as long as they remained safe.

Not waiting for the girl to regain her composure, he darted forward with all the speed he had left, the orb still spinning wildly in his grasp.

Sliding across the beast’s frame on his knees, he cocked his hand backward and then hurled the skill forward, unleashing the orb directly into the now widened crack in the shell.

BOOOM—!

A devastating explosion rang out, caving in the ground a meter around the area.

The beast’s whole chitin melted and shattered in a rain of debris, while the powerful shockwave knocked Ray and Trisha backward, sending them sliding roughly across the ground.

[Congratulations. You have defeated a King-rank beast: Earth Shaker]
