My Twin Stepsisters Are Way Too Yandere!
Chapter 10 - Maid Café
Kuro Kurogane knew humanity was condemned the moment he witnessed a unanimous vote in his class:
"Maid Cafe"
The male students were celebrating like they somehow achieved world peace.
The female students were gushing about designs for their outfits with excitement.
Kuro was considering transferring from this school.
Unfortunately for Kuro, fate would not stop harassing him personally.
Now the twins will be in maid costumes.
Which means that Kuro’s ability to survive as a person is waning rapidly.
On the morning of the festival, chaos was everywhere.
The classroom was covered in decorations, a fake menu, and students running around in costumes.
Kuro found himself by the door, wearing a waiter uniform against his wishes.
Haruto slapped him on the shoulder.
"You lucky guy!"
"I’m dead inside already."
Then with a dramatic pull, the dressing-room curtain opened.
And that was when Kuro completely shut down. The first person to step out was Akari.
She was wearing a black and white maid uniform (with a short skirt), thigh-high socks and a bow tie around her neck.
She twirled in a circle and yelled, "Ta-da~!!!"
The male students immediately looked as if they could be spiritually enlightened.
While Kuro quickly looked away.
Out of respect.Dangerous respect for Akari.
Akari immediately saw Kuro and smirked.
"Kuro-kun!"
"What?"
"You looked."
"I have eyes."
"So you admit it."
"That wasn’t a confession."
Then Aoi walked out.
And suddenly, it was worse than before.
Unlike Akari’s cute and peppy style, Aoi looked very formal, elegant and dignified: long black thigh-high socks, a small waist apron, and a calm expression.
The stark difference about to do him in!
Aoi stepped forward.
"...You’re heartrate just went way up?"
"STOP GIVING ME A HEART RATE MONITORING DEVICE!"
Akari broke down laughing.
"Kuro-kun, your whole face is red!"
"Because it’s hot in here!"
"Because there’s an AC unit on."
"Then that’s the reason I’m dying!"
He wasn’t wrong about being on fire.
The café opened up 30 minutes later.
Chaos ensued.
Akari was absolutely killing it.
Mostly due to her shameless entrees into flirting and weaponizing it.
"Welcome back Master~♡".
Every boy collapsed emotionally.
Akari kept looking at Kuro after the sight of them falling over, as if waiting for some sort of comment from him.
Kuro maintained professionalism by ignoring her.
Eye contact felt as if he would die.
Mina suddenly appeared next to him, wearing a maid out that skirt was illegal.
"Kuro-kun~".
"Why is your outfit illegal."
"Because fashion."
"That wasn’t an answer."
Mina got in too close when putting down her tray.
Kuro immediately looked up to respect.
Sadly for Kuro, Mina noticed this.
"Oho?"
"Don’t even start..."
"Were you looking anywhere else?"
"No."
"Liar~".
Then she suddenly leaned down to place some cups on a table nearby.
Kuro immediately looked away.
KA-BOOM.
Meanwhile the nearby boys were going into riot mode.
One could be heard saying aloud:
"How is he able to stay alive?".
Kuro wished he knew.
It was at that moment when Aoi became the real challenge for Kuro. Akari and Mina flirted with many people on a regular basis and by, flirting with Kuro so much that he didn’t mind. He didn’t think much of it.
But, Aoi was different and that made her far more unpredictable. Unlike the other two girls, Aoi was focused only on Kuro.
Every time Kuro sat down somewhere, Aoi would magically appear out of thin air.
"Tea."
"Uh... thanks."
"Snack."
"Uh... okay."
"Towel."
"Uh... why do you have that?"
Aoi then adjusted his collar.
"You’re sweating."
"Because this place is overtly hostile."
As this was happening, there were a few customers in the cafe who were noticing two of them, and began to whisper to one another.
"She only serves him."
"Oh my god! WAIT, ARE THEY GOING OUT TOGETHER!?"
Kuro wanted to crawl under the table and accept a life of obscurity.
Then, Aoi suddenly got up closer to Kuro and said softly in his ear: "You should drink more water."
Too close.
Way too close.
Kuro almost dropped the tray of drinks that he had in his hands.
"Aoi."
"Yes?"
"Personal space."
"No."
The truth was Aoi was being honest, she was extremely intimidating, and Kuro could not argue with her.
At the same time, Akari was trying to go into full mode. She was fully aware of what Akari was doing, and was on a mission.
Suddenly, there was a loud group of male students that came in the coffee shop, and as soon as this happened Akari immediately jumped into full performance mode.
"Welcome home, Masters~♡"
Akari laughed sweetly at the male students and acted extra cute.
But every few seconds Akari would glance at Kuro to see how he was reacting.
Kuro knew immediately.
"She’s doing this on purpose."
Rika materialized next to Kuro holding paperwork.
"Obviously."
Kuro’s eyes went wide.
And then he froze.
Because Rika had changed so much since yesterday.
For instance, instead of being a maid...
She was now dressed in a formal black Gothic style.
From the gloves, to the dark ribbons, to her glasses being almost completely lowered.
Needless to say, she looked dangerously hot.
Kuro, without meaning to, stared for just a half second too long.
But it was Rika’s immediate response that was even worse...
"Do you have something wrong?"
"Uh, no..."
"But you hesitated."
"Because everyone at this school thinks they’re detectives and analyze me as if I’m going to murder them all or something..."
Rika had that pleased look on her face again.
"Cosplay committee needed my help."
"Kuro, that’s so not cosplay. That’s like, psychological warfare."
And then, she smiled at him!
"Do you think this outfit looks good?"
Kuro’s mind grounded to a halt.
"Um, maybe a little?"
...Silence...
Then Rika’s head dropped slightly.
"I guess you didn’t think it looked very flattering...."
Her ears were turning very slightly pink.
Yet another danger signal went off in Kuro’s head.
Great!
Just peachy.
By the time lunch was over, total chaos had ensued.
Kuro was still carrying drinks from one table to another—somehow, maintaining his sanity...
But only just.
Especially since it seemed as though every girl in this school was bent on ruining him mentally at the same time!
Akari...openly flirting.
Mina...endlessly teasing him and touching him.
Aoi...silently being overly possessive of Kuro.
Rika...all of a sudden being very elegant and charming.
Kuro had completely maxed out on his hit points approximately 2 hours prior.
Then... tragedy struck.
Mina completely stumbled just outside Kuro’s reach.
Without thinking, Kuro grabbed her hips to stop her from falling. But regretfully—
Mina was pressed into him.
Soft.Warm.Too close.
All the students stopped what they were doing and stared at them.
Akari’s cheerful expression disappeared.
Aoi froze in place.Rika adjusted her glasses very slowly.
Looking up at Kuro with huge puppy dog eyes, Mina said, "You saved me!!"
Without thinking, Kuro immediately dropped her as if his hands were on fire.
"YOU DID THAT ON PURPOSE!!"
"Maybe," she teased.
Akari appeared behind them smiling at Mina.
"Mina-chan!"
"...Y-yes?" came Mina’s startled voice.
"You seem to be a little clumsy today," Akari pointed out.
"Hehe...," Mina laughed nervously.
Even Mina sensed there was danger present.
At the same time, Aoi, who had been very silent all day, was scribbling on her notebook.
Kuro was unsure of how much longer he could continue fearing what Aoi was writing in that notebook.
Fast forward to the end of the festival; Kuro had no energy left and could barely lift his head off the desk.
"I’m finished."
Aoi immediately appeared beside him and offered him a cold, refreshing glass of water.
"Way to go!"
Akari sat down beside him dramatically.
"Kuro-kun made it through!"
"Just barely," he said as Rika approached with several sets of alternate costuming for the café.
"You were a great host."
"Please don’t ever make me do this again," he expressed.
All of a sudden, Mina put her arm around his shoulders from behind him.
"Aww, but you were so cute while you were being tortured," she said playfully.
Kuro stared up at the ceiling, surrounded by beautiful girls in cute and adorable maid costumes, and thought that any normal guy would be in total heaven.
For Kuro, this was just another long day of survival.
