Chapter 48: Chapter 48 - Sleepy Mina

As soon as Mina Fujikawa ceased to jabber on, Kuro knew that something was going wrong.

That was the problem.

Mina typically speaks so much that she emotionally damages entire classrooms with her voice.

But that morning.

As Kuro was taking note of how boring his class was due to mathematics for "sophomores" that no one cared to know how to do and looking over at Mina who was sitting there like a lazy slouch in her usual oversized cardigan, and looking around of the classroom and continuing to look at Mina, the thing that had Kuro perplexed was the fact that Mina’s eyes kept closing for a few seconds before opening madly every few seconds.

"Did you die?" Kuro whispered across the room.

Mina very slowly turned her head toward him as if she was a robot with a bad battery.

"Maybe."

"That’s rude." Kuro said.

Then just as quickly as Mina’s turning her head, she yawned, and it completely destroyed any coolness she had.

Kuro sighed to himself.

"How late were you up?" Kuro asked.

Mina held up two fingers.

"Only two hours?" Kuro said.

"Fine. Five AM." She said.

Kuro was completely dumbfounded.

"Why?"

Mina pointed at him while saying, "Because you wouldn’t quit sending me cat videos!"

Kuro was feeling the effects of Mina’s accusation.

"You sent me thirty-seven cat videos."

The "most important content" can be described in the following ways: all of the cats were not cats or as many details as possible.

This is a valid logical conclusion.

However Mina’s health continued to decrease throughout the day.

As an example, by the time it got to English class, she was half asleep.

The same can be said for history class, except that she was typically awake but felt dead inside.

And come lunch time, she was spiritually ascending.

Even Akari noticed this.

"WOW." With a skeptical look on her face, she poked at Mina’s face. "The gyaru is no longer operational."

Mina raised her arm.

"Tell my expected husband that I died looking so beautiful."

Kuro immediately looked elsewhere.

What she said was crazy.

What she said was very crazy.

Because Aoi was watching from a distance,

what Aoi saw how naturally and physically Mina has been leaning in towards Kuro how quickly and instinctively Kuro checked on Mina how comfortable they were together

Furthermore, Aoi understood why she was upset.

Because Mina is no longer forcing affection out of her boyfriend.

The same affection is now a natural reaction.

Later after lunch the overall environment of the classroom is now very peaceful, due to lots of sun and warmness from the sun shining through the windows.

Due to the environment being the perfect conditions for a disaster to happen, due to the fact Mina finally is actually going to fall asleep.

The first sign of this is that Kuro notices the moment that Mina’s head begins to fall sideways onto his shoulder.

This also is a very natural response, since she just continues falling off the chair toward him.

Kuro was immediately stunned into place.

His brain just shut down for a second.

The reason?

Mina Fujikawa was asleep on him.

Her golden hair brushed gently along his neck, the sound of her breath next to him just a whisper.

But the worst part she looked peaceful.

No teases, no playful banter.

Just naturally trusting him.

Kuro’s heart started beating inexactly.

Meanwhile about half of the class had noticed the situation immediately.

"WAIT!"

"MINA-SAN?"

"She Sleeping on Him?"

"Kuro is Winning at Life?"

Chaos itself.

And Kuro was dying at this point.

But if he moved, then she would wake.

And for some reason he could not wake her.

Because, for the first time ever Mina looked completely comfortable.

Not faking smiles. Not wearing a mask to tease. Not being her loud self.

She was just comfortable.

Moments later Mina mumbles while she’s asleep.

"...warm..."

Maximum damage.

Several of the kids who were within a few seats of them almost had immediate spiritual explosion!

Across the room Akari looked at the scene in complete disbelief.

"...No," she said.

Meanwhile Aoi tightened her grip on her pen.

But Kuro looked genuinely embarrassed as he sat beside a genuinely happy girl, who was not being pushed away.

He looked nervous.

But still be gentle, as if not to wake her.

Aoi recognized that look all too well from Kuro, because it was the way Kuro looked at those he cared about.

Minutes passed in silence. Then the class became kind of muted.

Eventually, even the teacher started to notice.

As he adjusted his glasses while gazing toward the sleeping Mina with her head against Kuro’s shoulder.

An extended pause passed before the teacher calmly said, "Young love."

Kuro immediately shouted, "WE’RE NOT DATING!"

Mina continued sleeping without being aware of any of this.

The teacher continued writing on the whiteboard while all the other students laughed trying to hold it together.

Kuro accepted his own death internally.

Finally, the class was over.

The bell rang loudly through the classroom.

Mina shifted her head slightly against Kuro as her eyes slowly opened.

She blinked once and then twice.

Then she realized her head was resting on Kuro, she was being stared at by the classmates , Akari looked ready to kill .

Mina froze while saying quietly, "Oh."

Kuro whispered, "Good morning."

Every student in the classroom burst out laughing immediately.

Mina quickly buried her face in Kuro’s shoulder out of embarrassment, which made everything worse.

"I’M GOING TO DIE," she dramatically said.

Akari pointed emphatically, "GET YOUR HANDS OFF MY BROTHER."

While somewhat mumbling without lifting her face away from Kuro’s shoulder, Mina said, "Technically, he’s my stepbrother."

Akari yelled, "THAT DOESN’T HELP."

Aoi, on the other hand, watched Kuro quietly and noticed something very scary.

Now even though there’s so much confusion Kuro still remains close to her.

And although Kuro wasn’t aware of it his hand rests just outside of her shoulder in a protective way.

Even the least bit of emotional engagement are enough to let Aoi understand.

Mina Fujikawa was more than just a classmate that playfully messes around with her, but also has probably become a person that Kuro will unconsciously want to protect as well.
