Chapter 523: Chapter 350: What Are You Doing at the End? Are You Busy? Will You Chat with Me? (3)

Shoving, trampling, crying, and yelling at everyone around them—the riot was spiraling out of control, and people started using their communicators as weapons, hurling them at the opposite side.

It was like the entire world had gone insane, society teetering on the brink of collapse, everything completely losing its original shape.

...

On the other side, the Little Witch, who hadn’t been affected by the Illusion Technique, once again looked up at the sky in terror.

Because at this moment, the crowd of humanoid balloons all moved aside to clear a path. But that didn’t give her even the tiniest bit of relief; instead, she looked up at the sky with a full-on crying-cat-head expression.

Up in the sky, a single super-giant humanoid balloon, seemingly over ten kilometers tall and blotting out the sun, was staring down at the ground.

If Xue Dili were to raise his head and look up at the sky right now, he would definitely notice that the face of that super-giant humanoid balloon was exactly the face of Mayor Kaidou...

The entire world had narrowed down to that one face, glaring down from above. That terror, from head to toe, completely pushed the Little Witch into crying-cat-head mode. Especially with Xue Dili not waking up no matter how she shouted, she could only stretch out a trembling hand to shield him.

Tears uncontrollably dripped down to her chin. He looked up at the sky and stammered, "J-just now... we were just messing around. C-can’t we talk this out? Let us go..."

The super-giant humanoid balloon in the sky seemed to be smiling. It didn’t attack, and looked like it had just come over to take a look.

Yeah, right!

Right now, the humanoid balloons were no longer being interfered with. They no longer lost their sense of direction upon entering the one-kilometer range, and instead, like a fully armed force, launched a Death charge toward the ground.

She completely panicked, spread her arms to block in front of Xue Dili, then shut her eyes.

The next second, a huge force seemed to grab hold of her Witch’s Robe. Xue Dili appeared to snap out of the Illusion Technique, grabbed her by the collar and then...

"Vmm!"

The Dimensional Blade suddenly slashed out a Light Wheel, and the instant the Light Wheel touched one of the humanoid balloons, it shattered, instantly splitting into billions of tiny Cutting Light Wheels that ricocheted among the balloons.

Balloon after balloon exploded, triggering a blood rain that showered the sky. When the Light Wheel finally faded, the humanoid balloons realized that Xue Dili and the Little Witch were nowhere to be seen on the ground—they had vanished entirely from the city hall.

One by one, tiny black dots puffed up again; these newly inflated humanoid balloons drifted back into formation.

The entire balloon swarm dispersed, as if nothing had ever happened.

They continued to float in the sky, waiting for the Demon to appear.

...

The Teleportation Gate opened up in a small alley. The Little Witch still hadn’t recovered from her fright; she stared at the unfamiliar alleyway, then at Xue Dili, whose pupils now looked more or less normal again, and let out a breath of relief. "That was close. We almost died back there."

Xue Dili stayed silent. He didn’t mention what he had seen while he was under the Illusion Realm’s influence.

That Great Witch might not even be the same as this Little Witch—different personality, different way of doing things, and even...

Xue Dili glanced at her chest, completely flattened by the Witch’s Robe, not a hint of rise or fall. He decided he was definitely overthinking it.

Besides, he simply couldn’t believe that someone whose IQ seemed neck and neck with the Big Dragon Lady’s could be the one who, at the crucial moment, organized a resistance force against the Demon and became their leader.

But the intel from Mayor Kaidou only went that far. Xue Dili decided to check out the next location.

He walked straight to the depths of the alley and, in this overgrown patch of greenery, lifted a shabby wooden door.

"Where even is this?" the Little Witch asked.

She had no idea why Xue Dili had brought her back here, or why he’d come to this place at all.

"A hero who destroyed the world is buried here," Xue Dili said as he descended into the secret base, stepping down a staircase slick with some disgusting liquid.

"Huh? What do you mean, ’hero who destroyed the world’? Do those two words have even the tiniest bit of overlap?" The Little Witch hurried after him and followed him into the basement.

Inside the basement, all the equipment that had once been running was completely wrecked, as if something had exploded out from the center of the lone chair in this cramped space.

Blood and fragments were smeared almost evenly across the entire basement. Everything looked like it had been pulverized into tiny shards, turned into a storm of shrapnel that lodged itself into the basement walls, into the chair beneath them, and into the expensive communication hosts in front of them.

"On the day of destruction, a hacker fought a life-or-Death battle against a network Demon in this dark basement. It was a completely unequal war: one side was a network Demon that used the internet as its stronghold and could revive endlessly; the other was just a hacker who’d only received a portion of Margaret’s power."

"Oh, and this basement is located 27 degrees northeast of your shrine, three kilometers out." Xue Dili calmly described the scene he’d witnessed.

Maybe he was supposed to feel grief and sorrow right now, but at the moment, after checking himself, he did feel something like that—just not much.

"Huh?" The Little Witch stared blankly at the blood-splattered basement and the pile of network gear that had been reduced to scrap metal. She simply couldn’t understand how a hacker who’d only ever been here could have destroyed the world. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

Why did her world have to end for a reason like that?
