My Weekly Refreshing Mentor Spirit
Chapter 631 - 388: Matching Wits with an Equally Brilliant Opponent (Part 3)
Each squad operates independently, relying solely on raw strength to sustain themselves. It’s no wonder that within each squad, there exists a Legendary Level presence.
They would never execute such a skillful battle formation, nor perform arrow shots as textbook-perfect as these.
"Are you private soldiers? No, your bows are standardized; you must be with the City Guard Army!" the Captain of the Guard immediately roared, "City Guard Army, are you trying to incite a war between the City Lord and the Alben Family? You are waging war against the family of a Praise Society member; this is rebellion!" the Captain of the Guard shouted sternly.
He hoped to scare off the enemy with this bluff.
However, the opposition seemed completely unfazed and directly replied, "Failure is called rebellion; success is suppression of the Xiao Organization uprising!"
The leader of the City Guard Army directly ordered, "Everyone listen up, the Xiao Organization is deliberately attempting to assassinate the Alben Family, the City Guard Army steps forward to protect the aristocrats, to clear the Xiao Organization traitors, fire arrows, fire arrows, let them all die!"
Arrows rained down like a storm; the Captain of the Guard’s eyes were bloodshot.
He realized that the City Guard Army wasn’t joking; they intended to completely annihilate them here and blame it on the Xiao Organization!
How dare they! How dare they!
The Captain of the Guard knew his men couldn’t possibly defeat the City Guard Army; their only option was to stall them. The only solution now was to return to the family for reinforcement, or perhaps, request reinforcements from the Xiao Organization?
However, this place was already outside the control zone of the Xiao Organization, and they needed to return to the Xiao Organization’s base to inform them of the situation here. But even so, the Xiao Organization squads were scattered and couldn’t gather enough reinforcements in a short time.
The true key was reinforcement from the Alben Family!
Thinking of this, the Captain of the Guard immediately tore off his medal and said, "You two, one of you quickly return to the family to request reinforcements, the other quickly go to the Xiao Organization’s base we passed earlier and request assistance from their members!"
"Also, make sure to inform the Patriarch about this!" the Captain of the Guard shouted.
Two guards immediately went to fetch reinforcements.
Meanwhile, everyone else began preparing for battle, at least until reinforcements arrived.
...
"Patriarch, something’s wrong, our convoy was attacked. It seems like it was the Xiao Organization!" Before the intel arrived, the Alben Family’s intelligence agency noticed the anomaly over there and reported it back.
"How is that possible! That convoy was originally gifted to the Xiao Organization, their leader isn’t brainless, why would they attack something they could easily have?" Patriarch Alben felt an unspeakable absurdity.
She absolutely did not believe the leader of the Xiao Organization was such a foolish person, considering the strategy that expanded the Xiao Organization in just a day, their leader is not only not dumb but rather extremely shrewd.
He is particularly skilled in dealing with intelligent people.
"How did they ambush our convoy?" the Alben Family immediately inquired.
"Bow and arrow, and the sound of firearm shots..."
"That doesn’t make sense; the Xiao Organization fundamentally doesn’t have such organized weaponry. Even if they seized gang weapons, they’re children’s playthings, they wouldn’t even know how to use them. The Xiao Organization usually relies on close combat with power granted by their leader!" Patriarch Alben immediately spotted inconsistencies.
With his remarkable intellect in motion, he suddenly realized something.
"Damn! It’s the other nobles who don’t want to see the Alben Family grow bigger, so they chose to attack! Damn, I should have seen this coming!" Patriarch Alben instantly understood everything.
If they allied with the Xiao Organization, what other noble family in Roland City wouldn’t be envious?
Such a big prize, along with the Xiao Organization’s massive fighting capability, all devoured by the Alben Family, won’t other nobles be apprehensive?
"No matter who it is, it definitely isn’t the Xiao Organization. Send our people to support immediately; protect Belie, and if necessary, let those assets go!"
"And promptly contact the Xiao Organization to support Belie!"
"Yes!"
After assigning all tasks, Patriarch Alben seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
He thought about resting for once, after staying up all night due to the Xiao Organization’s affairs, and managing wedding arrangements this morning, his body was already in a fatigued state.
Yet for some reason, though wanting to rest, as he sat down and picked up the teacup his hand began to tremble uncontrollably.
Even his right eye began twitching uncontrollably.
Was it exhaustion from last night? Or did the convoy attack make him lose his sanity?
Patriarch Alben chuckled to himself sarcastically; he finally understood the bigger the profit, the bigger the danger lurking behind it.
He had previously ignored the other nobles in Roland City, who have no capability to accomplish tasks, but a significant ability to disrupt them, and plenty of it.
He should have conducted benefit exchanges beforehand, stabilizing everyone else first.
After tomorrow, when everything’s settled, whatever assets are lost, he’ll recover them all, perhaps even with interest to the Alben Family.
Sitting at the table, Patriarch Alben ultimately felt the situation should be resolved, allowing him to finally get some sleep.
Just as he seemingly drifted into slumber, suddenly, a piercing whistle and bell echoed around the Alben Family’s estate, startling Patriarch Alben awake with anger, "What happened now?"
