My Wife is a Hidden Big Shot
Chapter 394 - 370: The Greedy Clan
Dawn Miles followed Elias Lennox’s gaze north and asked calmly, "So you’re a descendant of the Harrow Royals?"
Elias Lennox’s pupils contracted. He turned to Dawn Miles, his expression complex. "Rory, the Holy Mountain is my clan’s sacred land. We guarded that land for over ten thousand years. But ever since Tristan Winslow became the Martial God, he drove my clan out. He even sent people to hunt down the Harrow Royals, forcing us into hiding and to change our names..."
"So you’re developing drugs to increase your strength to take back the Holy Mountain?"
Elias Lennox watched her for a moment before shaking his head. "After ten thousand years, my clan no longer has that desire."
"Then why are you doing all this?"
"Do you know about the war between Veridia and Crestland over a hundred years ago?"
"I do."
This was part of the history curriculum in Veridia, starting from elementary school. Nearly every Veridian knew that over a hundred years ago, Crestland had launched a war over an Ancient Martial Inheritance Boxing Technique.
’What does the Holy Mountain have to do with this?’ Dawn Miles wondered, looking at him in confusion.
Elias Lennox continued, "Countries from half the globe participated in that war. It only ended after a weapon invented by the Morgan Family killed Crestland’s Guardian..."
After mentioning the Morgan Family, he let out a soft chuckle, as if mocking the fact.
"The Morgan Family’s weapon did indeed intimidate the invading nations, but the one who truly brought the war to a swift end was the Martial God from the Holy Mountain. His appearance single-handedly pacified all the Martial Artists in the Martial World, and that’s what ended the war..."
"But when this Martial God appeared, he was wearing a piece of Ancient Jade. That is something my Harrow Clan will never forget—it was Tristan Winslow’s personal accessory..."
"In other words, for tens of thousands of years, the Martial God of the Holy Mountain has always been a member of the Winslow Clan. But look at the Martial World today. Martial cultivation talents are dwindling. Even Martial Kings are incredibly rare. But back in the Ancient Times, the rank of Martial King was just the entry-level for a Martial Artist..."
"The Martial World has suffered a severe schism, yet the Winslow Clan has maintained their inheritance, even holding a firm grip on the position of Martial God and setting these strict rules. Therefore, it’s highly likely they are the primary culprits behind the catastrophe that nearly wiped out the Martial World back then..."
Elias Lennox grew more and more agitated as he spoke, and the fluctuations of his Power grew stronger. He looked as if he was about to lose control.
Dawn Miles quickly struck several of his major acupoints, preventing the tsunami his power could have unleashed.
"Even if the Martial God has Tristan Winslow’s Ancient Jade, it doesn’t necessarily mean he’s from the Winslow Clan..." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
But Elias Lennox grabbed her arm, his face grim. "Come with me—"
He led her to his quarters and opened his laptop.
He typed a string of code and directly accessed a secret database.
Dawn Miles looked at the logo in the top right corner of the database. It was the International Martial Alliance’s S-level secret database.
He pulled up an encrypted document and cracked the password on the spot for Dawn Miles to see.
Inside was a yellowed adjudication order. It was the Martial God’s judgment against the Crestland Guardian who had started the war, ordering him to commit suicide on Mount Osius.
"See that symbol in the bottom-left corner of the order? That’s the Winslow Clan’s emblem from the Ancient Times. It’s recorded in our Harrow Clan’s inheritance."
With that, Elias Lennox exited the database and pulled up another folder on his computer.
It was full of photos of Sheepskin Scrolls.
A flicker of light crossed Dawn Miles’s eyes. The Sheepskin Scrolls in the photos looked very similar to the one the Kane Family had given her.
"Tristan Winslow was originally related to the Harrow Royals by marriage. But not long after becoming the Martial God, he led his clan to betray the Harrow Royals, overthrew the Harrow Dynasty, and sent people to relentlessly hunt down the Harrow Clansmen..."
Elias Lennox explained as he scrolled through the photos.
"Is there anything in here that explains why the Martial World suffered that schism?"
Elias Lennox shook his head. "That part has been lost to time."
"So Tristan Winslow might not be the one responsible for the catastrophe that befell the Martial World?"
Elias Lennox paused, then said in disagreement, "There might be no record, but the fact that the current Martial God is still from the Winslow Clan is highly problematic..."
Dawn Miles didn’t argue with him. Instead, she asked a seemingly unrelated question, "Why are you capturing members of the Lowell Family?"
"The Lowell Family?" This personality of Elias Lennox’s seemed to be unaware of the matter.
Dawn Miles reminded him, "The Lowell Family, one of the three descendants of the ancient Martial Gods."
Elias Lennox seemed to think for a moment before saying, "Perhaps because, compared to the Yamada and Harrow Clans, the Lowell Family’s bloodline has preserved the purest ancient blood..."
"So you’re capturing the Lowell Family for research?"
Elias Lennox froze. He looked into Dawn Miles’s cold, clear eyes, and his heart tightened. He immediately said, "Like I said before, one of the conditions for becoming a Martial God is to enter the Holy Mountain’s Hidden Realm. However, there are no detailed records of the Hidden Realm in modern historical archives. My clan’s inheritance only contains a single sentence..."
