Pregnancy (Part 1)

Ji Qingqing found out she was pregnant the morning after her wedding.

She yawned and went downstairs with Lu Lixing, unable to lift her spirits. Last night, Lu Lixing said that it was their wedding night and that they had to consummate their marriage. Therefore, she wasn’t able to go to sleep until the middle of the night. She didn’t get enough sleep, so she was very tired when she woke up the next morning.

Lu Lixing wanted to let her sleep again, but she didn’t want to because it was the first day of her marriage and she had to greet their elders as a sign of respect. She had a thin face and was dreading the ‘caring and loving’ gaze she knew Aunt Pei would give her.

“Qingqing, did you sleep well last night?” Grandpa Lu asked her with a smile on his face.

“I slept well, thank you, Grandpa, for your concern.”After speaking, Ji Qingqing covertly glared daggers at Lu Lixing.

Aunt Pei brought their breakfast to the table and took a closer look at Ji Qingqing. “But why do I think that young madam’s face isn’t very good-looking? What’s the matter? You have really dark circles under your eyes.”

Grandpa Lu took a sip of soy milk and said teasingly, “Young people, it’s normal to stay up late.”

Aunt Pei said, “There have been a lot of things at home recently, you have to make up for lack of sleep. Qingqing, I’ll fry you an egg.”

“Thank you, Aunt Pei.”

Aunt Pei walked into the kitchen happily and cooked a poached egg, which made her salivate with hunger in anticipation.

The poached egg that she usually liked to eat made her extremely uncomfortable today. Especially when she cut through tender egg yolk, a feeling of nausea surged up from the depths of her throat.

After a long night of sleep, her stomach was churning from hunger. But this wave of nausea was rather unexpected. Ji Qingqing got up, covered her mouth, and hurriedly walked to the bathroom.

Suddenly, a few people left their seats and turned to look at each other.

“Lixing, is she sick?”

Lu Lixing got up. “Grandpa, eat first. I’ll go and see her.”

After speaking, he walked toward the bathroom.

Aunt Pei thoughtfully whispered to Grandpa Lu in a low voice, “Grandpa Lu, do you think she… has it?”

Grandpa Lu was taken aback. His face was full of smiles in an instant and he tried to get up to take a look. Aunt Pei quickly stabilized him. “Old man, don’t rush.”

Grandpa Lu was overjoyed. “Yes, let’s not get overexcited too early. Accompany Qingqing to the hospital for an examination later.”

“Okay.”

In the bathroom, Ji Qingqing held the toilet and vomited nothing but sour water. Nausea made her stomach twitch and spasm, which was particularly uncomfortable, and her throat was burning and painful.

Nausea, retching, loss of appetite.

Ji Qingqing suddenly had a guess in her heart.

It’s already been a month, why didn’t my menstrual period come yet?

Am I… pregnant?

As soon as this idea came out, Ji Qingqing thought of her recent physical discomfort. The more she thought about it, the more she felt it was really possible.

I seem to be quite lethargic and I like to sleep recently.

Is she really pregnant?

After breakfast, Ji Qingqing and Lu Lixing split into two ways, one went to the company while the other one headed to the hospital.

Ji Qingqing came prepared, so the inspection only took less than half an hour before she got the inspection results.

The chief doctor double-checked the list of examination results before saying softly to Ji Qingqing, “Mrs. Lu, congratulations, you are one month pregnant.”

Ji Qingqing was slightly shocked and subconsciously clutched her flat lower abdomen with both hands. Aunt Pei, who was next to her, was overjoyed. “Doctor, is she really pregnant?”

“Yes, our test results are accurate. Mrs. Lu has been pregnant for five weeks.”

“Five weeks?”Aunt Pei hurriedly said softly to Ji Qingqing, who was stunned, “Qingqing, you really are pregnant!”

“I’m pregnant?” Her lower abdomen was still as flat as ever, but the doctor told her that a small life was in there.

“But… but I was still working out in the gym for the last two or three days.”

Aunt Pei was anxious immediately. “Then… will this exercise have a negative effect on the baby?”

The experienced chief physician pushed the glasses to the bridge of his nose. “Don’t worry about it, judging from the current examination results, the baby is very healthy.”

“But I suggest that Mrs. Lu stops exercising vigorously, especially during the early stages of pregnancy.”
