My Wife Might Be a Saintess
Chapter 318 - 317: Boy or Girl? You Must Choose 1
Su Qi turned her head and said, "Go on and sweet-talk me. I’m already yours anyway, so it’s a waste of effort."
As she spoke, she put the items away.
"I’m going to change. Get out." Then Su Qi pushed Jiang Zuo out of the room.
Jiang Zuo: "..."
’When did Su Qi start needing me to leave the room for her to change?’
Still, he walked out. It was just changing clothes. ’Nothing special to see, anyway. I’ve been looking for ten years.’
After pushing Jiang Zuo out, Su Qi couldn’t help but smile, a smile that held a girlish shyness.
"We’re already married, practically an old married couple, hehe." Chuckling to herself, Su Qi began to change.
’In a couple of years, I might even be a mom. A mom...’
The idea was completely foreign to Su Qi. She had never experienced anything like it, and to be honest, the thought of giving birth was a little scary to her.
But she had been scared the first time she was with Jiang Zuo, too, and she wasn’t scared anymore after that.
As long as they were still together, Su Qi felt that they could overcome any difficulty.
After changing, Su Qi came out to find Jiang Zuo chopping vegetables in the kitchen.
For Jiang Zuo, chopping vegetables was no trouble at all. He was more than willing to practice his skills at home. And even though Su Qi did the cooking later, he had still done half the work.
You could say he deserved half the credit.
He could almost be considered someone who knew how to cook.
’It’s a bit of a shame, really. I’m invincible, yet I can’t even manage to cook a single meal.’
Just then, Su Qi walked over and asked, "Do you want a boy or a girl?"
The question was so sudden that Jiang Zuo almost didn’t know how to react.
"I’m asking you. If we have a baby, would a boy be better or a girl?" Su Qi asked again.
Jiang Zuo asked in surprise, "Can’t I have both?"
Su Qi: "..., I’m talking about the first one."
"If there’s going to be a second, what does it matter if the first is a boy or a girl?"
"But you must have a preference for whether you see a son or a daughter first."
Jiang Zuo continued chopping vegetables, his expression blank. "What if we have boy-girl twins?"
"I don’t care. You have to pick one, boy or girl. You can’t not choose," Su Qi said.
"A boy," Jiang Zuo said directly, without any hesitation.
"Why? Are you biased toward boys? But haven’t a lot of people been saying they prefer daughters recently?" Su Qi was very curious.
Jiang Zuo slowly began to speak. "Because you can just let a boy raise himself. That way, he won’t get in our way."
Su Qi froze for a moment. Suddenly, she felt like Jiang Zuo had a point.
Then she came to her senses and said, "You’d be a terrible father! Children need to be taught. Even though Master didn’t really teach us, we still got beaten easily whenever we did something wrong as kids."
Jiang Zuo believed that. ’Little Aunt probably doesn’t hit lightly.’
’Su Qi is already thinking so much before we even have a child. If we did have one, would she start worrying about their future marriage prospects?’
’Are all mothers such worrywarts?’
Afterwards, Su Qi took over and started cooking. The only thing Jiang Zuo could do was chop vegetables.
"By the way, Senior Sister booked us plane tickets for the day after tomorrow. She wants us to go take care of something. She called it a vacation, but it’s really a business trip," Su Qi complained during dinner.
"Us? I’m going too?" Jiang Zuo asked.
"Yes, or rather, it’s just the two of us. I heard the other party is a Mage, so you’re probably more suitable for the job," Su Qi replied.
Jiang Zuo was a little curious. "Why would you guys be the ones to handle a matter involving a Mage?"
In reality, Su Qi and her group weren’t part of the marketing department. This kind of thing shouldn’t fall to them.
Frontline personnel basically don’t take on commissions. They only act when something happens. Usually, wherever someone is causing trouble, that’s where you’ll find these frontline people.
There isn’t always a reward.
All they want is the experience.
Frontline personnel aren’t really under the Tianhe Group (though they are officially affiliated), otherwise they’d at least be given a salary and Spirit Stones.
As long as you clock in and out properly in the marketing department, you still get a base salary.
’But since it’s just the two of them, if it’s really a minor issue, it could actually count as a vacation.’
Su Qi said, "It wasn’t supposed to be our business, but this Mage has connections to the Holy Land. And looking at the entire Holy Land, you’re the only Mage. So Senior Sister just told us to go and make an appearance."
"..."
Jiang Zuo wanted to say that Jingyue was really casual about this kind of thing.
But he kept the thought to himself. ’If we have to go, we’ll go. As long as I’m careful, it shouldn’t be a problem.’
Besides, Su Qi had said that Jingyue only wanted them to make a token effort.
At that moment, Su Qi added, "I heard there’s a reward. It’s supposedly an Elemental Crystal Stone, which would be good for you."
After thinking for a moment, Su Qi looked at Jiang Zuo seriously and said, "But if you’re really against it, we don’t have to go. Don’t worry about Senior Sister. It’s not like she can do anything to me anyway."
Jiang Zuo shook his head and asked, "Where is it?"
"I don’t know yet. Anyway, she said it’s a great place for a vacation. I’ll ask tomorrow," Su Qi said.
Since that was the case, Jiang Zuo didn’t ask any more questions. ’Anyway, it’s just me and Su Qi going together. I suppose we really don’t need to take it seriously.’
Jingyue had said that even talking to Su Qi on the phone could make her dumber. Now that she was taking him along, it was like pairing an idiot with a total weakling.
If it was a truly dangerous place, it would be an unprecedented crisis.
After dinner, Jiang Zuo was over by the sink washing dishes. Su Qi wasn’t supposed to do chores these past couple of days, otherwise Jiang Zuo wouldn’t have had to.
But Su Qi watched Jiang Zuo wash the dishes the entire time.
"Is there something worth looking at?" Jiang Zuo asked calmly.
"Yes, you seem a little different," Su Qi said.
Jiang Zuo looked at Su Qi, not quite understanding. "How am I different?"
Then he added, "Is it that the wife by my side has gotten more beautiful?"
Su Qi huffed, then giggled and ran over to lie down on the sofa.
She did feel that Jiang Zuo was different. He seemed to have matured a lot, and she was a little worried that it was putting pressure on him.
That was the last thing she wanted to see.
If she could, she would rather the two of them live an ordinary life, arguing from time to time, occasionally disagreeing about the kids and getting into a fight, where her husband would just pretend to resist before letting her beat him up properly.
Then at night, they would sleep together, holding each other all night, and just like that, they would make up.
Not like this, where her husband had to chase after her pace, to adapt to the world she lived in.
She felt it would bring him too much pressure and pain.
Just then, Jiang Zuo finished washing up and came to sit beside Su Qi.
Su Qi shifted and rested her head on Jiang Zuo’s lap, then asked, "Are you unhappy?"
Jiang Zuo was puzzled. The question came out of nowhere.
"I mean, suddenly becoming a Mage, and now you have to come with me on missions... you haven’t even had a chance to properly adjust," Su Qi added.
Jiang Zuo stroked Su Qi’s hair and said, "As long as you’re here, any unhappiness is just an illusion."
"Really? Then if you are unhappy, you have to tell me. I’m your wife, the person closest to you. If you’re upset or unhappy, you have to let me know," Su Qi said seriously.
Finally, Jiang Zuo nodded. "I will. Didn’t I tell you before? In this life, I only want to live for you. So of course I’ll tell you if something is making me unhappy."
"I’m sleepy."
"I have to go to work."
