"Really? Can we skip the crib then? I want Rina to sleep with me on the big bed," Alice exclaimed excitedly upon hearing this.
Babies are super cute, arenāt they?
"Then youād better be mentally prepared," Renz said, hearing Aliceās tone and realizing she was likely a young person misled by videos.
While human infants are undeniably cute, videos only show their adorable moments, not their annoying ones.
They cry incessantly at night, roll all over the bed, and at their young age, bedwetting is inevitable.
Youāre thinking of human infants as too āharmless,ā little sister Alice.
"But, speaking of which, has there been some conflict in your emotional life recently?" Alice suddenly asked after a momentās hesitation.
She wasnāt sure if she should say it.
After all, it was their private family matter, and even as a sister, she shouldnāt interfere. But she had observed many puzzling things and, after much thought, decided to speak up. At times like these, airing out any conflicts could resolve everything.
Now that they had a child, even if their feelings were estranged, it might be due to a misunderstanding.
She mainly noticed Erinaās āeducational criticismā of Renz during the shokugeki.
And recently, their attitude towards Rina seemed a bit lukewarm. Normally, new parents would be the most enthusiastic about their newborn, but Rina, apart from Renzās obvious affection, seemed to be slightly ādislikedā by Erina.
Perhaps it was just Aliceās imagination.
She constantly felt that there might be a rift between the two of them.
If there truly was a rift, and they let it fester, Rina would be utterly miserable if Erina and Renz divorced, becoming a child from a single-parent family.
Alice let her thoughts wander, going completely astray, her mind flying freely.
Renz was stunned.
What emotional problems could they possibly have?
Perhaps an issue of āoverheatedā emotions?
Well, there was some of that. Recently, Renz noticed his clinging to Erina steadily increasing, especially when he woke up each morning and saw her profile sleeping beside him; Renz just wanted to ābullyā Erina a little.
No!
Renz suddenly realized something.
"If youāre talking about emotional problems, thereās indeed one issue that Erina and I havenāt been able to resolve," Renz said, stroking his chin.
This was a minor, long-standing issue.
"We have too few common topics," Renz mused. "Erina loves cooking and exploring every aspect of it, and for Erina, Iāve also been diligently learning to cook."
"And Erina knows I like to play games, so even with her limited skills, sheāll play a few rounds with me. Besides that, most of our time, we just do our own thing."
This issue had persisted for almost half their lives.
From a certain perspective, such a situation should easily lead to the āseven-year itch,ā but Renz and Erina had never grown tired of each otherās habits; instead, they had always been very harmonious.
So, the lack of common topics was no longer a problem; it was just a situation, a lack of romantic flair to spice things up.
"Isnāt that problem just caused by you not being romantic enough?" Erina interjected. "You, besides being a homebody, are always working."
"The occasional holiday gifts you give me are either keyboard keycaps or figurines. Iāve thought about it, and you sending such things is less practical than just kneeling by my bedside for a day."
Every holiday, Erina would anticipate receiving gifts from Renz, wondering what he would send her.
And each time, Renz would ruthlessly crush her expectations, yet she still had to feign ālikingā them. š»šāÆāÆš¤šššš°ššš.šøšš®
After all, for Renz to even remember to send a gift on that day was already quite impressive.
As soon as Renz brought up the issue, Erina naturally had
to air out all her years of grievances. However, Erina wasnāt just venting; she simply hoped Renz would be more thoughtful with gifts next time and send her things she actually liked.
"No, actually, Iāve noticed my lack of romance," Renz didnāt deny his flaw.
"But I think, you canāt blame me. Youāre my first love, Iāve never dated anyone else, and where would I get gift-giving experience, right? Besides, you never showed any dislike when you received gifts, so how was I supposed to know you didnāt like what I sent?" Renz shrugged.
"This Christmas, I specifically wanted to give you a gift, to be more romantic, but I messed up," Renz said, sighing.
"How about next time, I just give you money? You can buy whatever you like?"
"My fist is getting hard," Erina fumed upon hearing the latter part of his sentence, raising her fist.
Giving money as a gift, what kind of gift is that?
Youāre truly something.
Giving money as a gift to a girl youāre a genius, a small one. Most people wouldnāt possess such brilliant wisdom.
"Then how about this: next time we celebrate a holiday, we go out and pick gifts together? You can choose whatever you like, and Iāll buy it for you," Renz suggested, genuinely trying to solve the problem.
"Do you know what a gift is? Do you understand what anticipation feels like? Do you know my excitement every time I unwrap a box?"
"When you know what the gift is beforehand, it loses its meaning. Menās thinking is too strange, isnāt it?" Erina couldnāt help but complain. "And I donāt want any weird gifts."
"There are many types of gifts that I could actually use, right?" Erina hinted.
"Understood, next time Iāll specifically give you practical gifts," Renz continued. "Just donāt complain about my taste."
"Do I look like the type to complain?" Erina retorted.
"Besides, what good would complaining do?"
"It seems only you truly understand me," Renz said with a helpless expression.
"After all, I can guess what youāre thinking even with my eyes closed," Erina said, her lips twitching slightly.
Alice initially maintained a serious analytical expression, listening to both the male and female perspectives.
After listening back and forth, she couldnāt help but wonder if their emotional problems werenāt really problems at all.
Was this what they called a ābad relationshipā between a couple?
It was quite amusing.
They didnāt look like they were arguing at all. An outsider would think they werenāt discussing how to solve a problem but rather playfully flirting.
"I overthought it," Alice said helplessly. "Your relationship is perfectly fine."
"Aside from a few minor issues in life, weāre probably still compatible," Renz mused. Their problems were simply minor ones.
They were issues that could be resolved, or not, without significantly affecting their relationship.
After all, they had been together for so long; if there had been any major conflicts, they would have already broken up.
Renz had simply used Aliceās opening to hear Erinaās thoughts, and upon hearing them, he realized his gift-selection taste was indeed a bit unrefined.
