Myths Reawakened
Chapter 348 (2): Weakness and Ignorance Are Not Detrimental to Survival; Pride Is
The questions made Hesione anxious. She didn’t dare dwell on them, telling herself that erasing Milne was the priority; he could not be allowed to mess around in the human world. She hurriedly reached out to Mona and told her not to reject her memories. The more their memories integrated, the greater their power would be.
If they accelerated the integration now, Mona would come to resemble Hesione more, but she couldn’t afford to worry about the irreversible price when facing her powerful opponent. She decisively agreed to the proposal.
Hesione sighed in relief. If not for the hellish angel’s descent, she wouldn’t have been able to convince Mona, and she would continue to suffer the torment of being kept up all night. Though that wouldn’t change, at least her sentence would be shortened, which was a silver lining.
With her improved mood, the Śār decided to kill Milne and left him with an intact body.
Hesione fought with renewed vigor, her power rising as she fought Milne. The energy of their clashes generated fierce gales and violent waves, shattering space numerous times and causing black currents to sweep across the area.
Wayne stood amid the storms unwaveringly. He didn’t see the ‘Death Knight’ of the inner world. He wondered if he had died.
That wouldn’t be a problem in itself, but without his emergence, the projected space would sustain for a long time given how ample the energy was. Speaking of which, why was the barrier so sturdy this time? Had the magic circle been improved, or had a great number of magic stones been used? Had Milne stolen everything from the headquarters of the Ministry of Magic and even the diamonds on the Queen’s crown?
That couldn’t be. Everything had gone to the trash cans of the Lando family. The remaining gems shouldn’t contain this much power!
Wayne’s head was filled with questions. He needed to suppress the Goddess of Darkness trapped in his chest and thus couldn’t fight with his full power. He believed in Hesione’s power. As long as she worked with Mona and unfurled all six wings, Wayne could stay out of the fight as they easily—
Boom!!!
Black tides surged. The Divine Comedy and the holy scriptures of the Golden Law collided with destructive, violent pressure, spreading into the distance with unstoppable momentum. The next second, twisted darkness continued to devour light like a black hole, creating a blinding rim on the edge.
The black light stilled before exploding. Violent energy turned into shockwaves that destroyed indiscriminately, be it space or matter. Anything and everything within a thousand-meter radius was rendered into the most primal energy state.
Earth, fire, water, and wind elements went berserk. The four-colored tides rushed into Wayne’s body with the fire elements taking the lead. He blocked the incoming storms and easily caught the white figure flying backward to him, hand cupping her curves.
“What’s going on? Aren’t you a Śār? Yet you can’t even take down a traitor?”
Hesione felt doubly humiliated in his arms. She explained, “The hellish angel possesses the power of both Heaven and Hell. My power has yet to awaken, so I can only suppress one power...”
Milne’s form was bizarre, able to use the Golden Law and the Seven Deadly Sins like his own arms in complete harmony, with no conflict whatsoever. It was Hesione’s first time facing such an enemy. She speculated that it was the Lord of Envy’s heavy investment.
Only a demon lord in Hell was capable of this.
It wouldn’t be much of a challenge to Hesione if she were at her prime, but not now. “I can suppress his Seven Deadly Sins with my Golden Law, but to erase him, we would need the power of Seven Deadly Sins that was great enough to suppress his Golden Law.”
It was a little confusing, but Wayne understood her. The combination of the Golden Law and the Seven Deadly Sins made the Hell-Heaven hybrid incredibly powerful, so Hesione needed his help.
Wayne gave her a look. Śār, you don’t want to see the hellish angel running rampant, do you?
Hesione’s eyes twitched. She turned away and nodded faintly, agreeing to his shameless threat.
She had misjudged. She didn’t have to agree. Wayne had always shown no mercy to any demon he encountered. He was just the kind of despicable opportunist who would turn such a situation to his favor.
To eliminate the hellish angel, the Śār agreed to the price. She reassured herself that, since she had already been bitten by the dog, it didn’t matter if she let the dog bite her a few more times. She just had to lie back and think of Heaven.
“Kekekeke—”
Wayne activated the half-complete Philosopher’s Stone in his chest. Hell’s dark energy spread through his body, elongating his hands and feet into pale claws. A mask in the distinct style of Hell covered half of his face. Three pairs of black wings unfurled from his back.
His power had not reached the level of six wings, so the appearance was only a conscious choice to match Hesione’s six white wings.
This wasn’t his strongest state; the Pale Knight integrated with the Pale Nest was. Since he couldn’t summon the Pale Nest now, transforming into a demon was the most optimal solution. He could save more thoughts for the continued suppression of the Goddess of Darkness, and he could utilize the Divine Comedy of the Seven Deadly Sins to fight alongside Hesione as an angel and demon pair.
It wasn’t that the Pale Knight wasn’t good enough, but that the demon state was more cost-effective!
Hesione gave Wayne a repulsed look, gripping the Oath Sword in her hand more tightly. The bastard was too convincing as a demon, like he wasn’t acting at all.
“Why are you looking at me like that? If you keep glaring, I’ll do it tonight in this state.”
Wayne tossed out a threat that made Hesione’s face contort before drawing the black greatsword he had looted from Smedley’s body. The six wings on his back flapped, bringing him to Milne instantly.
Clink!
Milne’s weapons of choice were two long, slim scimitars, one black and one white to match his wings. The blades, a set forged by the Lord of Envy, utilized the Seven Deadly Sins and the Golden Law, respectively.
Milne blocked the greatsword with his black scimitars. The Seven Deadly Sins clashed, and the two attacks imbued with identical Laws vanished like mud dispersing in the ocean. He didn’t understand what Wayne was. He was a human, then an Astral life, and then he played a convincing demon. The Śār sure was kinky. She either stayed completely celibate or went for the most perverted bed partner.
Milne observed Wayne with interest. Sensing a great power coming from behind him, his white scimitar, wrapped by bands of Golden Law, turned into chains and shot at Wayne.
The chains wrapped around Wayne before connecting behind him, creating a massive sphere.
Crack!
Hesione rushed over with the Oath Sword, thrusting the blade into the sphere of bands with cold, golden light glinting in her eyes. In an instant, she dissolved the sphere.
Flying over Wayne, she swung the greatsword downward at Milne with both hands.
The moment Milne parried the attack, Wayne suddenly accelerated his attacks, forcing him to defend himself with difficulty. He didn’t have the time to launch any counterattacks.
The demon and angel made a good team. Such a perfect partnership wouldn’t be possible without many sleepless nights of rehearsals.
It made sense. Mona’s memories had corrupted Hesione, and oftentimes, while she was still in a daze, she would know what to do with a simple pat to her bottom.
That was also a form of good partnership!
Milne struggled to parry incoming attacks. In no time, two bleeding gashes appeared on his face and chest. The corrupted Blood of Heaven was red with a faint black glow, reaching a balance in Milne’s body.
Since he had once been an angel and had fallen due to the Lord of Envy’s temptation, this counted as Hell’s victory.
Whoosh! x2
Wayne and Hesione both got a hit in from above and below, leaving another bleeding gash each on Milne’s face and chest. What a coincidence that Wayne had made a cross, and Hesione, too.
They had to be friends with illicit benefits at least, if not a shameless couple.
Wayne and Hesione hadn’t noticed, but the injured Milne had. His eyes glowed with overwhelming golden light. With a muffled huff, he forcefully detonated his energy to drive the shameless pair away.
Hovering in the air with crimson light dripping from his clothes, he scoffed sarcastically between heavy breaths, “Chief Śār, your man is truly demonic. I’m sure that it satisfies you greatly every night to conquer the demon!”
The simple trash talk brought tremendous enjoyment. However, Hesione remained unfazed in the face of the hellish angel’s taunting. Her tolerance had been pushed to such a great height under Wayne’s training that the words didn’t even anger her.
It was another story when Wayne was the one talking. He could make Hesione lose her composure as soon as he opened his mouth.
“Save your breath, Demon. Truths won’t make the Śār lose her sanity from rage. She really is satisfied every night.”
“Shut up, Demon!” Hesione raged, charging at Milne with the Oath Sword.
Criss-crossing golden sword aura surged. The moment the energy filled the area, it suddenly condensed into a line, the blazing golden light sweeping down.
The hateful attack held terrifying power!
Wherever the golden light hit, every tangible and intangible thing disintegrated into the most basic earth, fire, water, and wind elements. The violent gusts cracked like whips, scaring the elements into following the fire elements’ lead and rushing into Wayne.
I know a good place to go, my fellow elements! Follow me!
Milne jumped with fright. Himbo was the one to say it. Why was he the one taking the brunt of the Śār’s rage?
Hesione had recovered more of her former glory as a Śār with this attack, which was closely related to Mona’s acceptance of her memories. If Hesione hadn’t been an angel of integrity who could not tolerate the sight of demons, she would’ve gone easy on the demon to drag out the fight so that Mona would accept more of her memories.
Milne was going to dodge the attack, but realizing that Hesione’s thoughts had locked onto him, leaving him with nowhere to run, he raised his four wings and swung his black and white blades. Overwhelming power awoke in his body, and the Divine Comedy of Seven Deadly Sins and the scriptures of the Golden Law converged.
With a howl, he was about to face the attack—
“Haha, forget about me?”
A demonic whisper came from behind him. Pupils contracted, Milne whirled around to parry, but the black greatsword was already swinging down at him.
It was too late!
“Agh—”
Screams accompanied the splattering blood. Two black wings fell from the sky...
