Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven
Chapter 553: Making Adjustments to the Hexcore and Modern Magic
"Your path. I know how it works."
"It will still allow me to research modern magic, right?" Jasmine asked with a bright smile. "It is a very versatile evolutionary path," she added.
"Oh, yeah." Grey blinked. Now that he thought about it, nothing restricted Jasmine from continuing her research into modern magic.
His path allowed it, after all. He could use the spells himself, and considering the fact that the Assistance Device and HexCores were originally external devices, it could easily be made possible.
"Well, if you want to cultivate my path, you will have to let go of the HexCore."
"Yeah, but I know you already have some plans for that." Jasmine winked at Grey. "Do I not know my Chief Grey?"
"Hm." Grey appeared thoughtful.
This HexCore allowed for the rapid optimization and calculation of complex spells; a normal human brain could not possibly handle it. The origin imprint inside it was what allowed one to establish a connection with the information layer to alter reality using mana particles.
However, the origin imprint that they used fundamentally belonged to Tian Yuan. Hence, as long as Jasmine made improvements on it, the progress would still be contributed directly to Tian Yuan since he essentially owned the path.
Jasmine was well aware of this fact. That was also the main reason why she had not gone too far into her experiments. If she did and inadvertently helped Tian Yuan somehow, would that not be bad?
"But now that I look at it, you made the message cross over dimensions via calculation with HexCores, right?" Grey asked suddenly.
"Oh... yeah." Jasmine blinked in surprise. "I used several HexCores to pass that message, along with a massive amount of gathered energy from nearby planets."
"Hm." Grey frowned. The method Jasmine used to send that message had a direct relation to the information layer, and Tian Yuan was deeply obsessed with the information layer to form his Ascendancy Power.
If he caught wind of what Jasmine had done, he would most definitely try to capture her.
But at the same time, without her sending that message, Grey would have never known where she was. She could have died of old age, and he would never have found her, unless he somehow became a being that could scour through all of the endless reality at once.
And that would be the Heavenly Dao.
"But for now, all I have to do is analyze the origin imprint inside the HexCore and then forge my own version. This should effectively cut off any lingering presence of Tian Yuan."
Grey nodded firmly.
"I will be taking your HexCore. Jasmine, for the time being, you will not be able to use magic."
Jasmine had no problem with it.
Once they found themselves a secure place to land in NeoStar, Grey forcefully extracted her HexCore from her back.
Jasmine’s energetic figure flickered, and she temporarily disappeared into his storage domain.
For modern mages, the HexCore was their origin core, or their absolute source core. It stored all the vital information related to them within the massive photonic computer operating inside it.
Grey analyzed the physical core and then focused deeply on the origin imprint. This thing still remained as a stubborn residue. Jasmine was now at the fifth rank herself and possessed a advanced energetic body, but that still did not naturally remove this origin imprint.
This imprint was what allowed the modern mages to subtly access the information layer to formulate spells in the first place.
He broke it down to its smallest conceptual form as his mind began to analyze it using [Recta]. With [Recta], the vast influx of information was heavily compressed, allowing him to safely save space in his mental server.
Once he made a copy of it inside the server, he began analyzing it carefully.
"There it is." Grey grinned. He finally saw the heavenly power; this was the anchor that regulated the Origin Power.
It was intrinsically tied to Tian Yuan and, surprisingly, the Dao of Machinery.
If he cut off that specific information, then he could, in theory, make this path completely separate. But to do that, he also needed to replace the anchor.
The current anchor for gathering spells from the information layer was the Heavenly Dao. However, without it, this origin imprint was just another fancy, useless trinket.
"But wait. Can I not enter the information layer myself?" Grey grinned widely.
Why not just anchor it directly to himself?
Tian Yuan probably made it work after forming a binding contract with the Dao of Machinery. That was the only entity that had complete control over the information layer alongside the Mecha race, and the Mecha race was said to strictly follow the Dao of Machinery.
He did not know for sure if his idea would work, but in the worst case scenario, he could simply ask the Dao of Machinery to do the exact same thing as before.
He swiftly began making modifications. He was also going to completely overhaul the HexCore itself.
He used his Mecha race abilities to refine the computation matrix of the HexCore. Surprisingly, there were a lot of glaring loopholes and incomplete pathways within its design, which substantially reduced the overall computational output of the HexCore. This was something not humanly possible to fix manually, but with his innate Mecha race ability, it was very much possible.
After the modifications were complete, the HexCore shifted from its original hexagonal shape into the sharp, sleek shape of a triangle. Then, he carefully implanted the newly modified origin imprint back into the HexCore.
"But I can definitely merge this directly with a source," Grey had a sudden thought.
The HexCore at the fifth rank was not purely physical; rather, it was a complex photonic computer that operated entirely on energy.
He could take that dense information and convert it into a pure frequency. Then, the source itself would possess all of the HexCore’s functions, including the origin imprint required to operate it seamlessly.
Grey decided to give it a try.
He returned his focus to reality and brought Jasmine back out. "I have merged the HexCore into my path."
"Let us see if it works."
Jasmine had no problem with this.
He imparted the Sovereign Ontological Technique to her. Soon, a swirling event horizon formed around Jasmine. Grey smoothly fed the refined data directly into the event horizon, watching closely as it transformed into a stable, glowing triangular source.
Jasmine had successfully converted to his evolutionary path.
"How is it?" Grey asked with some hope. He did not know for sure whether anchoring the imprint to himself, simply because he possessed access to the information layer, would actually hold up in practice.
However, his question was soon answered as Jasmine flawlessly activated Projection Frame to skip through reality, moving at a blinding, effortless speed.
"It worked," Jasmine said, her mouth hanging open in sheer awe.
"Chief Grey, in terms of brains and research, absolutely nothing can beat you," Jasmine said with a deep, admiring sigh.
The HexCore’s computational efficiency had truly increased to godly levels.
