No Trespassing! My Aloof Brother - Chapter 689 - 687 Don’t Hide It From Me [4 Releases]
Liam looked at someone with a grievance-ridden expression, took a deep breath, and said earnestly, "Maya, we are breaking up!"
Instantly, Maya was bewildered, her brows tightly knitted, staring straight at Liam, asking, "What did you say?"
Maya’s surprise was expected by Liam; however, he did not retract his words but seriously said again, "I said, we are breaking up."
When "break up" echoed again in Maya’s ears, she became angry, unable to accept Liam’s inexplicable behavior.
They were fine just last night, and this morning, when he went to work, he was still reluctantly affectionate; Maya couldn’t believe that in the blink of an eye, Liam didn’t want her anymore.
So, she frowned, speaking irritably, "Brother Liam, this joke isn’t funny at all, stop messing with me."
Liam saw that Maya refused to accept their breakup, saw her about to turn and leave, and immediately reached out to grab her, saying, "Maya, I’m not joking with you, I’m serious, we’re breaking up."
Downstairs, Elijah and Aunt Smith watched the unfolding drama, puzzled; this afternoon, they both sensed Liam was not in the right mood, but they didn’t expect him to mention breaking up with Maya at this time, especially when their wedding date was near; they hadn’t seen any fights between them recently, so why the sudden breakup?
Aunt Smith took a deep breath, turned, and carefully asked Elijah, "Little Reed, what’s going on with the young master? Why does he suddenly want to break up? They were fine when they left this morning."
Elijah shrugged helplessly, saying, "I don’t know either; just saw the BOSS in a bad mood this afternoon."
"Ah..." Both sighed at the same time and looked up at the second floor again, only to see Maya gripping Liam’s arm, with a crying voice, asking, "Liam, what do you mean?"
Liam listened to the girl’s questioning, dismissively opened her hand, and said casually, "No meaning, just feel we need to calm down? Need some space."
"What nonsense are you talking about? Aren’t we good together? Why do we need to calm down? Is it because I’ve been messing around recently?" Maya is not one to joke around, facing Liam’s sudden suggestion to break up, she couldn’t understand, not knowing what she did wrong recently to upset him, making him insist on breaking up.
Maya recalled their interactions in her mind, finding no issues between them, making her feel particularly wronged. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
"Maya, I have nothing to explain to you, I’ll let Elijah take you back." Liam looked at Maya’s bloodshot eyes, his heart bleeding.
Confronted with Maya’s questioning, he couldn’t utter any harsh words; he couldn’t deceive his conscience by saying he hated her or didn’t like her; hence, he had to let Maya be in the dark.
Maya looked at the man’s earnest demeanor, watching him unable to come up with even an excuse, her pursed lips trembling.
She couldn’t help but speculate in her heart whether Liam encountered some difficulty? Is he worried about implicating her, so he’s breaking up? Or has he contracted some severe illness, wanting not to burden her spirits, hence breaking up? That’s how it plays out on TV.
When Maya thought of these reasons, the anger in her heart was instantly extinguished; imagining Liam breaking up for her sake, she felt sorry for him.
But, regardless of any difficulties, she would not leave Liam; even if he were indeed sick, sick to the point of no remedy, she wouldn’t leave him and would accompany him till the last day.
Thus, Maya cautiously lifted both hands, gently grasped Liam’s arm, and asked, "Brother Liam, have you encountered some difficulty? If there’s anything, could you tell me, let’s solve it together?"
Liam, observing the girl’s sudden softened attitude, felt warmth and heartache; suddenly, he was touched, wanting to hug Maya tightly; yet, his wager with Lillian Morris echoed in his ears, and Liam, being a resolute man, wouldn’t easily change what he said.
Hence, he could only endure the aching and fondness in his heart, coldly saying to Maya, "You’re overthinking, I’m not facing any difficulties."
Maya, hearing Liam’s explanation, muttered to herself, "Right, someone like Brother Liam wouldn’t encounter unsolvable problems."
So, she held Liam again, asking concernedly, "Brother Liam, did you secretly contract some severe illness, afraid I’d worry, get involved, so you want to break up; Brother Liam, don’t be like this, okay? Don’t leave Maya, alright?"
As Maya spoke, she plunged into Liam’s embrace, pairing hands tightly hugged his back, tears streaming, heartbrokenly saying, "Brother Liam, Maya likes you, don’t leave Maya, alright; even if you truly have an incurable disease, Maya wouldn’t despise you, I’ll certainly accompany and take care of you, I beg you, don’t hide from me, just reveal the truth! I can handle it, even if it means death, sooner or later, I’m not afraid, as long as you’re there, I fear nothing, I’m willing to accompany you anywhere."
Maya spoke increasingly sadly, her tears soaking through Liam’s shirt, feeling the warmth of her tears, his heart melted.
He clenched his fists tightly, striving to control himself, advising himself not to hug Maya, to not let slip the truth, reminding himself this is just the beginning, Maya certainly finds it hard to accept, once she’s calm, her stance will change, then rational choices will be made; he and Lillian’s wager would then see the result.
Consequently, he grasped Maya’s arms, gently pushing her away, saying in a serious tone, "Maya, I haven’t encountered any difficulties, nor am I sick; simply, I just wish to separate."
Maya, seeing Liam still not yielding to her, felt aggrieved and hit his chest with her hands, crying, "Stop fooling around, alright? Is it because I haven’t cried for a long time that you want me to cry one more time for your satisfaction?"
Maya’s tears streamed down, Liam’s heart tightened in pain, yet he couldn’t reveal the truth to her.
She saw Maya refusing to believe the truth, quite helpless.
Thus, he could only excuse himself, saying, "Maya, when you and I were together initially, it wasn’t purely voluntary; I’ve been reflecting lately, therefore, I want to give you freedom, for you to think clearly whether you genuinely wish to stay with me, rather than fearing my reprisal; ponder over this before the wedding, I don’t wish to force you, nor do I want you regret later."
Maya, hearing Liam’s reasoning, her tears stopped abruptly, her suppressed anger flaring again, she couldn’t accept Liam’s words.
Indeed, she admitted, she had indeed secretly admired Lillian, and staying by his side initially was indeed for the bigger picture.
However, that’s long past, didn’t Liam recognize her devotion to him? How could he doubt her at such a critical juncture before their wedding, Maya was furious.
