Dungeon Raider System-Chapter 267: Let there be light Part 1
Luna frantically turned the pages of an old encyclopedia while scrolling on her phone trying to find out what was Uriel facing before it was too late. It wasn’t the first time that she researched eclipses nor was it the first time she investigated that particular house, but now it was a race against time because, if her suspicions were correct, the eclipse would be the last of Uriel’s worries.
"Is he, uhm, uhm?" She stuttered.
"Yes, he’s still inside." Sam replied.
"Good." Luna was inside a private study room in the library since she needed to keep an open line with both Sam and Uriel and speaking in the public area was forbidden.
She closed the encyclopedia and took an old phone book, then started skimming through the pages. Thanks to Uriel, she now knew the lost city former name was San Antonio and finding the address of that particular house wasn’t so difficult. The problem came with all the rest as most of the information she was able to find was either outdated or non existent.
The arrival caused the destruction of many internet servers which was the same as deleting all of their information. Because of that, what they knew as internet was much closer to an intranet where they could only access information of a limited amount of inter connected servers.
Up until that point, Luna had always deemed Uriel’s career as an outdated field of study, just like everybody else. In a world at war against the cryptids, it made no sense to worry about what happened to old cultures and civilizations when they could focus their efforts into developing new weapons or improving medicine. But now she wasn’t so sure anymore.
"That’s it!" Luna slammed her hands on the table as she rushed out of her private room. She then headed to the library counter but because of her short stature she couldn’t reach over and jumped up and down waving her arm.
"What is it? Don’t you see I’m busy?" The grumpy female librarian that replaced Mister Scofield grunted.
"No, I can’t see. I want the news."
"If you don’t have a cellphone..."
"I want old news."
"Over there." The librarian pointed towards the newspaper archive, but Luna couldn’t see her.
"Uhm, uhm, hmmpf." Luna was starting to become more anxious, but she was doing her best to remain calm. It wasn’t the time nor the place to have one of her episodes, but not being able to communicate what she wanted to say was extremely painful to her.
She had worked so hard to find what she had been looking for, she had all the data but she needed a newspaper from a certain date to confirm her theory before telling Uriel and she couldn’t afford to waste a single second or it could be too late.
Luna closed her eyes and let out a long sigh, then a wave of flux energy emerged from her small body in such a violent manner that the furniture trembled and the pages on the books nearby started turning by themselves as though a gust of wind had been released inside that building.
Gertrude’s glasses fell from her pointy nose and she shivered in fear thinking that there might be a cryptid on the loose or maybe a rogue hunter, but once she stood up she saw the tiny Luna and her white glimmering eyes.
"Over there, right next to the magazines!" Gertrude said after letting out a yelp.
"Uhm... thanks." Luna rushed towards the newspaper at her fighting speed and searched for the newspaper as though her life depended on it until she found what she had been looking for:
’Horrific, over forty bodies found so far beneath San Antonio house. Wife claims she never suspected him and he was a quiet, peaceful loving husband.’ Find your next read at novelbuddy

Uriel climbed down the steps of the staircase under a sepulchral silence, what little light his lantern provided was useless until the narrow passage ended and it was finally able to spread and reveal what happened to the scared rookies.
"Eeeek!"
"Calm down, it’s me." Uriel shushed the woman who just yelled.
"What are you doing here?" She asked after gathering herself.
"I came to rescue you guys."
"There’s no need for that, you’re all safe here." Said a woman sitting in front of a chimney. She was tall and thin and her face had an uncanny resemblance to the woman in the happy family portrait on the entrance.
"Guys, calm down and get behind my back." Uriel said as he gripped Thunderbolt Iron, making the woman retreat in fear.
"Wait! She saved us."
"What are you doing, you idiot!?" One of the hunters stood up in between Uriel and the woman, blocking Uriel’s way.

"If you’re not moving, then at least don’t interfere. She’s a cryptid." Uriel glared at the rookies with cold eyes regretting going out of his way to save them. All he needed to end the eclipse was to kill the host, but the hunters wouldn’t allow it.
"Are you dumb? She’s a human like us!"
"I don’t have time for this." Uriel gripped his sword and in response the hunters activated their traits, a faint grin was then formed on the woman’s face briefly breaking her victim act but no one else saw it. Even the wounded rookie who Uriel helped was turning against him, which made him regret saving him even more.
"Wait!" A female huntress tried to appease the situation by standing behind Uriel and try to calm her companions down. She didn’t like him one bit, but at least she knew him from before and thought he was neither incompetent nor ill intended. However, standing by his side let her see the woman who carried an unsightly grin on her face and was getting ready to jump into action.
"Watch out!" Uriel said as he pushed the young huntress back and rushed forward to prevent the eclipse from harming the naive rookies.
