Mythology Rebooted-Chapter 579 - 246 The Judges Are All My People, What Will You Fight Me With? Part 3
Chapter 579: Chapter 246 The Judges Are All My People, What Will You Fight Me With? Part 3
Four candidates surrounded them, spouting provocations, yet all tacitly maintained a certain distance.
"What a cute little sister, still so pretty with a face full of dust!"
"Lorde, go give her a kiss. A candidate for the Holy Maiden must stay pure, and it’s a rare opportunity. Today, we’ll eliminate her."
"Why me?"
"You’re the only guy, who else would kiss her if not you?" freёnovelkiss-com
"Ah, this..."
The four candidates bantered back and forth, gradually tightening the circle, each wanting an ally to make a move, confident in their alliance’s solid strength.
No one was a fool; they guessed that siblings Alex and Ronica still had some tricks up their sleeve.
"Since no one dares to kiss, how about I do the honors!"
Wayne’s voice spread through the dense fog, the source elusive, now left, now right, possible from any location.
The four candidates cautiously backed off to one spot, on guard for any potential sneak attacks, then saw Wayne and Veronica walking out openly and honorably.
No sneak attack.
All four were momentarily stunned, abandoning the advantage of a hidden enemy and an exposed one. Either they were overly confident in their own abilities, or they were brainless simpletons.
Candidates for the Holy Maiden were the elite from all divisions; the probability of a simpleton was extremely low. Even if there were a simpleton with exceptional talent, they would be paired with a strategist.
Without a doubt, those who appeared openly were powerful and disdainful of sneak attacks.
"Alex, things are really going poorly for you. I think it’s time to reassess our alliance," Wayne said loudly, mocking, then turned to Dusa, "Little sister Dusa, your brother is no good. Listen to me, come to me and be my little sister, Brother Wayne will cherish you."
Dusa turned away, mentally flipping Wayne the bird.
Alex simply smiled wryly and shook his head, without offering any explanation. With his ally’s entrance, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Having been neighbors for over a month, he had come to know Wayne somewhat and believed a century-old friendship indeed existed. At least for now, Wayne wouldn’t break their mutual non-aggression pact.
"Next is my... our siblings’ turn."
Wayne had intended to face all four alone, but seeing Veronica eager to try, he decisively opted for mixed doubles, smiling faintly at the opposite group, "Don’t panic. It’s two against four. You have the numerical advantage."
With those words, he clenched his fist and swung it vigorously forward.
A fierce wind roared, blasting the Foggy Sea apart, the gale opening the fog like a spiraling vortex speeding away. Tree branches thrashed wildly in the wind, the contorted trunks bending over, groaning under the strain.
The violent gust bore down on the four candidates who each retreated quickly, their formation instantly scattered by the blast.
Whoosh!
A clump of fog exploded behind Wayne; Veronica took the lead and charged out, picking the Holy Maiden candidate with the best figure.
There was no other implication; it wasn’t to guard against Wayne, nor because the person’s figure resembled Willy’s.
"Now it’s one against three. You have an even greater numerical advantage," Wayne said, the corner of his mouth curving up as he clenched his fist and stepped into the fog.
Five minutes later.
"Everyone, be proper, the men on the left, the women on the right, hands on the tree. Those who disobey will have their clothes stripped off," Wayne reprimanded the four captives, who obediently complied, then turned to Veronica, "These elites from each division really are something, charging at me shouting about love and bonds and all that. I got distracted for a moment and nearly lost to the three of them."
Veronica rolled her eyes, "What do you plan to do with these four guys?"
"Kill the men, keep the women."
"Be serious."
I am serious, alright? It’s been like this since ancient times, unless it’s a story from ’Water Margin.’
Wayne muttered to himself, glaring fiercely at the four candidates with outraged expressions: "What are you looking at? If you’re not as skilled, just obediently follow the rules. This is an examination, and the proctors are watching, you wouldn’t want to be disqualified for not wearing clothes, would you?"
The attack was devastating, throwing both opponents and teammates into a panic.
Alex clenched his fist and coughed frantically, signaling Wayne to stop talking nonsense, as there really were proctors nearby grading them.
Wayne didn’t care, he had already decided to drop out of the selection, and unless something went wrong, this would be his last assessment. Rather than pretending to be a gentleman and restrain himself, he preferred to do whatever made him happy.
"Let me make a suggestion then!"
Dusa timidly raised her hand, speaking in the gentlest tone the most brutal execution method: "Wayne, you could kiss all four of them, disqualifying them from advancing."
Talk about being small-minded.
Wayne gave Dusa an unamused look, "Impossible, Veronica knows me, I would kiss anything but men."
"Shut up, who asked you to respond to her."
Veronica kicked Wayne in the leg, annoyed, "Dusa, we saved you and your brother once, now it’s time for you to repay the favor. Have your brother kiss all four of them."
Alex: No need to go that far.
The two female students debated fiercely on who should kiss who, each demanding the other’s brother to do the deed.
"Alright, alright, stop arguing. I’ll make a fair statement."
Wayne waved his hand to separate them, "I’ll take one for the team, kiss a few more. The three women are for me. Alex just got hurt, his stamina won’t keep up, so just one kiss for the man will do, problem perfectly solved."
"The man’s yours too; you’re from Windsor." Dusa disagreed.
"That’s a stereotype..."
After some haggling, no kisses took place.
Wayne was just talking, he valued his first kiss greatly and wouldn’t just give it away because someone was pretty. He secured a villa for Alex and his sister and left the four candidates to compete for another villa.
A strategy of divide and conquer, and instantly the alliance between the four became tense.
Hiding their spawn point, Alex and his sister searched for the Teleportation Magic Stone, having traded with Wayne before, they knew where to pick up a ready stone.
Wayne was no slouch; when he did act, he broke through the records effortlessly, grabbed four Magic Stones, activated the Teleportation Array and the villa, and entered the next instance.
By the rules, on this map, he and Veronica no longer had a century-old friendship or alliance.
And there was only one competitor.
Arranged by Saina and Tubie, his final battle in the Holy Maiden selection was against Flora’s student, Otilia.
"The judges are my people; what do you have to fight me with..."
Wayne looked at the pitch-black firmament, and the distant blue water ball, and despite having seen the map, he couldn’t help but feel his heart race.
The barren lunar surface, a villa stood alone, looking from afar, the blue water ball was magnificently beautiful, serenely suspended in the cosmic starry sky.
At the highest point of the barrier blocking the vacuum of space, a Ruby radiated, burning like a living creature with flames.
