One-Eyed Monster
Chapter 943 - 941: The Might of Thunder
The white steam on Igor suddenly disappeared, replaced by flickering thunder.
"This..." The soul-devourers began to panic and started to avoid Igor, but how could Igor let them easily escape at this moment?
Igor didn’t have many attack skills, he charged at these soul-devourers using the most primitive Physique Technique, and with Nonoa on his back, this level of attack wouldn’t cause much harm to the soul-devourers.
However, the thunder accompanying him made the soul-devourers very fearful!
This inexplicable reversal left Igor himself puzzled, as the six high-rank soul-devourers scrambled away in panic, but they didn’t dare to escape too far. They kept darting around Igor, possibly because they didn’t dare leave without completing their mission.
The difference in level prevented Igor from capturing these soul-devourers, yet the soul-devourers also hesitated to attack.
It was a standoff as both sides chased and evaded each other.
The soul-devourers still tried to control Igor, carrying a dead set mission they wouldn’t abandon easily. There was a certain synergy among them—when Igor chased one, the others would encircle him, maintaining a safe distance from the thunder on him but never letting Igor out of sight.
The Spirit Binding Net couldn’t be repaired. The thunder power on Igor was quite strong, needing the combined effort of six to contain him.
It seemed like the soul-devourers had more tricks up their sleeves!
They appeared to be waiting for reinforcements!
Time is not a luxury there; without understanding energy collection and release, one cannot feel the passage of time. At that moment, Igor’s sense of time was feeble because the energy flow in him had become faint; it seemed that the Spirit Binding Net affected energy collection, as covering him for a while made his energy flow very thin... Igor finally understood why Nonoa shattered her own consciousness to unleash that sword strike; she did it entirely to save him. Clearly, Nonoa knew what that net was and thus helped Igor desperately.
Now Igor saw the net lying quietly, glowing with yellow light, but didn’t know what it was. He felt the need to make use of the net, though still unsure how to control it...
In that moment, Igor thought of his friends in the original world; he felt that Stan Sol would definitely know the purpose of the net, being an ancient Hunter with some research on strange items.
However, as this was the Border Realm, Stan Sol couldn’t come to help him; he could only rely on himself.
Igor began to concentrate on remembering how to control the net.
The net originated from the mouth of a soul-devourer, requiring control from three of them, implying a high energy demand for control!
But his current energy level was insufficient, so what could he do?
Though it was a stalemate, who knew what other tricks the soul-devourers would pull?
As if preordained, once in the Border Realm, Igor found himself worrying only to see his fears materialize. When he fled flames before, they sprouted from the ground as he feared, and now, just as he fretted over what tricks the soul-devourers had, a cloud of dust rose in the distance.
Clearly, the reinforcements the soul-devourers awaited had arrived!
After the dust settled, a skeletal-looking soul-devourer appeared before Igor. The skeleton seemed to sit on some sort of mount, yet Igor couldn’t discern what it was.
The skeleton knight swiftly reached Igor and scolded the six soul-devourers in an emotionless voice, "You useless beings, haven’t you settled this yet?"
Igor wondered if this was the master the soul-devourers mentioned, and he stopped pursuing them. It was apparent that the new enemy was much stronger; he knew he must calmly face the situation...
"This guy has thunder..." the terrified soul-devourers said, "We dare not get close; we’ll be shattered by it."
"Your task from the master was to bring this boy back at all costs; in the master’s eyes, what are you? Shatter, if you must!" The skeleton knight finished speaking and drew a scimitar from his back.
"Don’t do this, my lord. We’ve just advanced; let us enjoy it a bit!" The six soul-devourers started to beg.
"I thought you were dealing with that Resistor; turns out you did nothing. The Resistor’s consciousness had shattered long ago; the master doesn’t keep useless things!" The skeleton knight raised the scimitar.
Igor found himself ignored; the opponents seemed confident in their victory! This made Igor quite uncomfortable, and his pride welled up, fueling him with strength like he could shake the heavens.
Filled with wrath, Igor began releasing the energy within him, recalling Nonoa’s actions, then crouched down and drew his sword!
Whoosh—Hiss—Boom—
The Sword Qi, mixed with thunder, chopped towards the skeleton knight, who had yet to lower his raised scimitar and was struck by the fierce attack, forcing him to halt his mount to withstand the blow!
However, the high-rank soul-devourers lacked such strength; the thunder struck them and sent them flying, their bodies seemingly about to collapse into pieces.
"Oh no, oh no, there truly is that Thunder!"
"It’s over! I haven’t devoured anything since advancing, and now I might shatter."
"Could the Resistor’s alliance leader have arrived here?"
"Could other teams have failed in intercepting him..."
The injured soul-devourers began chattering in panic about various things that Igor couldn’t understand.
Nor did Igor comprehend why he possessed this thunder...
"Thank you for punishing these failures for me; now that you’ve released energy once, it’s my turn!" The skeleton knight wiped his blade, evidently not too affected by the recent attack.
"Take my blade!"
Suddenly, Igor sensed the skeleton knight’s charge, feeling as though it bore down with unabated momentum despite the short distance, though the skeleton knight himself remained motionless.
Boom!
Igor thought he couldn’t block the strike, but suddenly, lightning erupted from his body, fiercely smashing into the charging skeleton knight’s phantom, then continued towards the skeleton knight unabated!
The skeleton knight, caught off guard, quickly raised his sword in defense, but it was too late; the thunder struck him off his mount!
