Chapter 386: The Destruction of Sabaody

With Sakazuki’s calm words, it all came to an end just like that...

The Great Pirate Era that had created endless evil and thrown the entire world into chaos had truly ended...

When that moment actually arrived, everyone stood frozen with blank minds. No one doubted whether Sakazuki’s words were true.

Everything up until now had been completely public and transparent. The very foundation of the Great Pirate Era had been severed, and the road to becoming Pirate King had been entirely blocked off.

People could no longer express their emotions. They could only stare at the broadcast while trembling tears streamed down their faces...

But Sakazuki on the screen clearly did not seem satisfied yet as he slowly spoke once more.

"But is this enough? Of course not. There have never been a shortage of people in this world who cling to false hope. So..."

The screen suddenly switched.

What appeared before everyone’s eyes was a green island covered with towering trees like giant umbrellas providing shade. Countless small bubbles floated into the sky beneath them.

Those distinctive features allowed many people to instantly recognize the place.

The reporters at headquarters swallowed hard.

"N-No way..."

The place shown on screen was the Sabaody Archipelago.

Aside from the government ships capable of using the Red Line route, anyone else wishing to enter the New World had to coat their ships at Sabaody and travel through Fish-Man Island.

However, half a year ago, the Marines had forcibly evacuated the civilians from Sabaody, gradually turning it into a lawless region. No one had expected it was all preparation for today...

Judging from Sakazuki’s methods, they could already imagine what fate awaited the island.

The reporters pointed their cameras toward Sakazuki without daring to relax for even a second. They wanted to record everything completely.

On the execution platform.

Sakazuki spoke indifferently. "As the only entrance to the New World aside from the government’s Red Line route, the Sabaody Archipelago..."

The broadcast screen zoomed outward and shifted higher, allowing the surrounding sea to enter the frame as well.

And what stood out most upon those waters... were the countless warships!

"Today, it will be subjected to a ’Buster Call’ and completely erased."

The moment Sakazuki finished speaking, a Marine soldier hurried over respectfully while carrying a golden Den Den Mushi representing the authority of a Buster Call.

Sakazuki calmly pressed the button upon the golden Den Den Mushi.

Two seconds later, on the broadcast screen, the countless warships surrounding the Sabaody Archipelago from every direction began firing shells toward the island.

These were not ordinary cannonballs. They were specially made incendiary shells mixed with fuel.

Almost the instant the first volley landed, the entire island was swallowed by flames.

And that was only the first round. This bombardment would continue for half a day until every single special incendiary shell aboard the ships had been exhausted.

On the screen, ships attempting to flee were mercilessly destroyed by the Marines. Government ships, pirate ships, merchant ships... none were spared.

Sakazuki’s iron-blooded cruelty shocked the world once again. And the terrifying nature of the Buster Call reminded people of exactly what it represented.

It represented indiscriminate annihilation. A destructive bombardment meant to completely erase an island and wipe out every person and object within the targeted region. Those destroyed ships were the clearest proof.

No vessel could escape alive. Not even government ships...

The screen became filled with nothing but flames. Towering infernos mixed with black smoke that pierced into the heavens...

Sakazuki’s cold voice continued explaining everything. "This Buster Call operation will be broadcast live to the entire world. It will only end once this island is reduced completely to ashes and erased from the world."

The purpose behind this was not merely to completely destroy the pirates’ remaining hope. It was also to let the people of the world experience the terrifying might of a Buster Call for themselves.

To intimidate the world...

The screen then temporarily switched back to Sakazuki once more.

Standing atop the execution platform, he slowly spoke. "And finally... for today’s last event. Let the so-called Four Emperors of the Sea leave behind their final traces upon this world."

A communication frequency was opened at the top of the live broadcast screen.

Sakazuki was not worried that those people would refuse to appear.

If they did not come, they would become the laughingstock of the entire world. Whenever people spoke about them in the future, they would only sneer and say that those men did not even dare to show their faces before Fleet Admiral Sakazuki through a Den Den Mushi.

The Four Emperors would forever become a joke. Every ounce of prestige they had built across decades on the seas would completely vanish because of this.

They had ruled the seas for decades, yet Sakazuki had stripped everything away from them.

Dreams. Companions. Family. Power.

After losing everything, even the last trace of their reputation was now being targeted by Sakazuki’s vicious methods.

The entire world already knew about this broadcast. If they refused to appear, then they truly would have nothing left.

Even knowing Sakazuki had malicious intentions, they could not reject him.

On the screen, Knox appeared first, his crimson eyes flickering with madness.

Judging from the background, he was floating high in the sky. Around him stretched endless ocean beneath dark storm clouds and drifting volcanic ash.

Only a little more than a day had passed since the destruction of the New World. With all the islands and navigation points gone, directions could no longer be determined.

Knox had already wandered into the Calm Belt twice while suppressing his fury. Right now, he only wanted to find Marine islands and destroy them one by one.

Next came Big Mom, whose eyes were equally bloodshot after her hopes had just been destroyed and her dignity shattered before the entire world.

Several seconds later, Shanks appeared aboard the Red Force. Just like Knox, his background was filled with dark clouds and drifting volcanic ash. He also could no longer determine direction.

The final figure to appear was Kaido inside a dark hall. He remained expressionless as he coldly stared at Sakazuki.

Watching the Four Emperors appear exactly as planned within the broadcast, Sakazuki softly chuckled. "Have you idiots prepared your final words yet...?"

The mockery in his tone was obvious...

* * *

New World, Egghead Island.

Inside the research institute above the clouds, Vegapunk and several satellites gathered together while watching the live broadcast.

At the control console, Lilith wore a wicked grin.

Clack! Clack! Clack!

The sound of rapid typing echoed out. In less than two seconds...

"Location confirmed."

Half of the screen split apart, displaying the positions of the Four Emperors’ Den Den Mushi connected through Headquarters’ communication network.

Honestly, the technology itself was not particularly advanced. But it was still something most people in this world would never even imagine possible.

Standing nearby, Enel yawned. "They really are... idiots..."

In truth, Sakazuki’s words earlier truly had been mockery...

New World, aboard a returning Marine warship.

Whoosh!

Carlo appeared on deck.

Issho, who had been listening to the broadcast, slightly turned his head. "Hm? Carlo-san."

Carlo softly responded, "Issho-san."

Unlike usual, he did not address him as Admiral, yet Issho showed no reaction.

Carlo walked over and placed a hand on Issho’s shoulder. "Please don’t resist."

Issho looked slightly confused but said nothing.

He then turned toward the ship’s vice commander. "The rest of you, return to base."

Whoosh!

The two disappeared instantly.

The Marines aboard the warship exchanged confused glances. After a moment, they turned the ship around and headed back toward the Wano battlefield.
