Chapter 117: Chapter 115: Night of Slaughter

The charging group of men all wore grim expressions and radiated a startling killing intent, yet a single sentence from the boy sitting calmly in a lounge chair stopped them dead in their tracks. The overwhelming murderous aura instantly faded by a few degrees.

Immediately, rage began to bubble up inside them. As the elite warriors of the Daqing Gang, they were rarely called upon for mundane tasks; they were dispatched only for the most critical moments.

They had already been disgruntled upon receiving the mission, which was simply to deal with a young boy. They felt the Gang Leader clearly didn’t trust their abilities. ’He’s just a little punk,’ they thought. ’Even if he’s strong, how strong can he possibly be?’

They scoffed at Gao Shitong’s claim that the boy might possess the strength of an Earth Level Martial Artist. ’A snot-nosed little kid? How could he be an Earth Level Martial Artist?’ This was obviously just Gao Shitong trying to save face! Gao Shitong’s own strength was mediocre, so it was no wonder these men didn’t believe a word he said.

Indeed, it was hard to imagine a young man not yet twenty years old possessing the strength of the Earth Level.

"You’re Qin Li?" the leader of the tightly-clad men asked coldly. His gloomy eyes, glinting with intense killing intent, were fixed on the lavishly dressed youth seated before them.

"That’s right, I’m Qin Li. And you must be from that shitty Daqing Gang, right?" Qin Li curled his lip deliberately, his voice dripping with the accent of someone from the Great Qi Kingdom and his face flashing with utter disdain. "Daqing, Daqing... Why does that name sound so much like a dog my family used to own? Ah, now that I see you, I understand. You really are a pack of dogs!"

"You’re courting death, kid!" Two men beside the leader roared in fury. Without another word, they drew their sabers and charged, swinging at Qin Li. Not even a flicker of light emanated from their bodies.

Clearly, these two Martial Artists believed there was no need to use their full strength to kill a reckless youth who didn’t know his place.

"Be careful!" The leader suddenly saw Qin Li’s eyes narrow and instinctively felt something was wrong. He shouted a warning, but it was too late.

The two men were already upon Qin Li. Their incredibly sharp sabers, forged from fine steel, glinted coldly. Accompanied by a piercing whistle of wind, they chopped viciously down at him.

Qin Li’s eyes narrowed. He could even see the savage, exhilarated expressions on their faces.

"Does killing bring you such pleasure?" Qin Li sneered. His hands shot out like lightning, grabbing the descending blades!

Ah!

The rest of the gang, as well as those observing from the shadows, all stared with wide eyes, utterly astonished.

Both of these men were at the Profound Level. Even though they hadn’t used their full strength, their cultivation was still significant. Not even a High Tier Profound Level Martial Artist would dare to catch their blades like that, would they?

But it wasn’t over. The two men, their weapons caught, flew into a towering rage. With a shared roar, a cyan light erupted from their bodies as they desperately forced their sabers downward.

This time... they were using their full strength!

A crazed light flashed in the eyes of the two Martial Artists. ’You brought this on yourself, kid,’ they thought. ’How dare you grab our weapons with your bare hands?’

"Die!"

The two men roared in unison, their shouts drowning out their leader’s cry of "Be careful!"

CRACK!

CRACK!

Two crisp sounds rang out, followed by two dull thuds.

SHLICK! SHLICK!

Qin Li’s hands were like an eagle’s talons. He snapped their weapons, and then, gripping the two Broken Sabers, he sprang to his feet and fluidly plunged the sharp fragments into the two men’s chests.

Their Protective Gang Qi and their sturdy bodies were completely useless. The two Broken Sabers pierced clean through them, from chest to back!

The two men collapsed limply to the ground. Their wide-open eyes were filled with bewilderment. Even in death, they couldn’t comprehend how this youth possessed enough strength to snap their Hundred-Refined Steel Sabers.

"Kid, you dare kill my brothers!" The leader’s eyes instantly turned bloodshot, and his aura surged to its peak. These men trained together, ate together, slept together, whored together, and plundered together... they were as close as blood brothers.

To see two Profound Level Martial Artists die so ignominiously at the hands of this youth filled his heart with a towering rage.

"I will tear you limb from limb!" the red-eyed Daqing Gang leader roared, drawing a long saber that radiated a piercing, cold light.

The blade was narrow—only three fingers wide—and perfectly straight, with a flat tip. The entire weapon looked more like a longsword than a saber. However, its spine was incredibly thick, its edge was razor-sharp, and a wide, deep blood groove ran down its length, giving it an exceptionally vicious appearance.

’I didn’t expect the Daqing Gang to be a den of hidden dragons,’ Qin Li thought, his expression growing a little more solemn. ’This man... is actually an Earth Level Martial Artist!’

The surging fluctuations of his Primordial Power and that bizarre-looking saber both indicated that the man before him was no nobody.

Qin Li’s guess was correct. The men who had come tonight were from the Daqing Gang’s most elite division—the Battle Blade Hall. The man wielding the strange saber was none other than Sun Liu, known by the moniker Lightning Saber!

His strength had reached the second tier of the Earth Level, and he had perfected the Lightning Saber Technique, a combat skill that had made him famous throughout Cyan Dragon City.

While there were quite a few Celestial Level Martial Artists in Cyan Dragon City, they were either the ancient patriarchs of the great, influential clans or Tributors serving in the imperial palace. Ordinarily, who among them would bother with such worldly squabbles?

Take Murong Tian, for example, whom Qin Li had killed. If he hadn’t been lured by that Spiritual Medicine, why would he have personally made a move against a destitute youth?

Therefore, a Martial Artist like Lightning Saber Sun Liu was already considered a formidable figure in Cyan Dragon City.

This was also the reason the men of the Battle Blade Hall had been so displeased. Their boss, Leng Ping, had ordered all the elites of the entire Battle Blade Hall to be deployed, insisting that they must take the head of that fallen noble from the Great Qi Kingdom. A hefty reward was promised afterward.

But in the eyes of the Battle Blade Hall members, no reward, however great, could compare to a Martial Artist’s honor. Sending dozens of Profound Level Martial Artists, plus their Earth Level Hall Master, to deal with a single youth was a flagrant insult!

Only now did they realize how right their Gang Leader’s order had been. Two Profound Level Martial Artists had fallen at the youth’s hands without lasting even a single exchange.

Lightning Saber Sun Liu had earned his moniker for one simple reason: his saber was fast.

Since his debut, the souls claimed by his blade numbered in the hundreds. The vast majority of those Martial Artists had been unable to escape the first strike of his lightning-fast saber.

Not only was his saber fast, but the moment he struck, his blade would erupt in a flash of light as brilliant as the sun. This was the true essence of the Lightning Saber Technique.

The slightest lapse in an opponent’s concentration almost certainly sealed their fate.

Sun Liu had even killed opponents one or two tiers stronger than himself, all because they were unfamiliar with his technique and had instinctively blinked at the blinding flash of light.

"Kid, you can die without regrets under the blade of I, Lightning Saber Sun Liu! Of all the people I’ve killed over the years, you are the youngest!" Sun Liu dragged his saber with one hand, his aura building with every step. When he was still a dozen meters from Qin Li, he abruptly accelerated, shooting toward him like a bolt of lightning.

He reached Qin Li in an instant, leaping high into the air. At the same time... he swung the strange, trailing saber in a massive arc. Like a War God King Kong, he brought it down from above in a simple Powerful Mountain Splitting chop. Yet, due to its sheer power and speed, the very air seemed to warp around the blade.

Simultaneously, the saber erupted with dazzling brilliance! It was as if a sun had suddenly risen in the pitch-black night, magnificent and blindingly bright!

"Die!"

No one saw when a longsword appeared in Qin Li’s hand. Still less did anyone see how he plunged that sword into Lightning Saber Sun Liu’s chest.

They only knew that within that explosive flash of light, not just Qin Li, but everyone behind him, was completely blinded. They couldn’t see what was happening. Only when the light faded did they see Lightning Saber Sun Liu standing before Qin Li, a foot of cold steel protruding from his back.

The aura radiating from the sword, as cold as ten-thousand-year-old ice, sent a chill through the hearts of the onlookers, even from a distance.

Lightning Saber Sun Liu’s eyes were wide with shock. As expected of an Earth Level Martial Artist, he did not die instantly despite having his heart pierced. He could feel the blood in his body draining uncontrollably toward the sword.

A savage grin suddenly twisted Sun Liu’s lips. "So... this is the taste of death? You... you were faster!"

His body went limp. With a flick of his wrist, Qin Li retrieved the Blood-Drinking Sword. Its blade was unstained by a single drop of blood. Yet, Qin Li knew just how much of Sun Liu’s blood it had just consumed, for when Sun Liu’s body crumpled to the ground, it took a long moment before any blood began to pool beneath it. Qin Li could clearly feel the Blood-Drinking Sword’s excitement in his hand.

’A Demon Sword, indeed,’ Qin Li thought, narrowing his eyes at the dumbstruck men, who stood as still as statues. He spoke coldly, "Still not running? Are you waiting for me to take your pathetic lives?"

"Boss!" Qin Li’s voice snapped the men out of their stupor. A dozen of them charged forward at once, brandishing their battle sabers as a cyan glow erupted from their ranks.

"Avenge our boss!"

Someone let out a cry, and the whole group charged madly toward Qin Li.

A faint flicker of admiration flashed in Qin Li’s eyes, but it vanished as quickly as it came, replaced by ice. ’I can respect your loyalty to your brother,’ he thought, ’but I cannot tolerate you coming after me!’

’Then... come on! Let’s see just how powerful the techniques and strength of the first level of the Only I am Venerable combat technique truly are!’ Qin Li roared internally, charging into the throng of men with his sword held ready.

To deal with them, he wouldn’t even need the second level of the Only I am Venerable combat technique—the spiritual suppression.

「In the dark of night, on the long street.」

The thrilling, bloody battle lasted for less than a quarter of an hour.

Nearly everyone who had gotten wind of the confrontation and come to watch from the shadows had been unable to stomach the thick stench of blood in the street and had long since retreated.

They all knew that the seemingly invincible Daqing Gang... had truly picked a fight they couldn’t win.

From tomorrow onward, one of their most elite divisions, the Battle Blade Hall, would be history.
