Others Summon Beasts, I Summon Yandere Wives
Chapter 5: The Sealed Bond.
The Hollow Knight burst through the dust like something out of a horror film.
Its featureless head swept the valley. Left. Right. Then Finn felt its attention lock onto him with a dry, clattering click.
Behind it, silent as smoke, Nyx peeled herself from the shadow of the broken gate.
Blood ran down one arm. Her ash-coloured dress was torn, the hem dark with grime and something darker still. Plaster dust streaked her hair, and she looked only mildly inconvenienced.
In her good hand, she no longer held the glass shard Finn had last seen. Instead, she carried something far better: a length of rebar, at least two feet long, jagged at one end.
The knight came for Finn.
It took three strides, then four. It did not run so much as fold the space between them. Finn raised the kitchen knife in both hands, pressed the tip against the glowing crack in the tarmac, and forced his fingers to stop shaking.
The knight closed the distance.
’Wait.’
Its two primary blades lifted as it advanced.
’Wait.’
The third blade rose.
’Wait—’
Then the fourth.
’—NOW!’
Finn drove the knife down.
The blade punched into the mana vein, and for a quarter of a second, nothing happened.
Then the crack split open.
A column of pale blue light erupted down the length of the alley.
Raw mana crashed over the Hollow Knight like a wave breaking against a cliff.
The creature staggered. Its four raised limbs trembled. The chitin plates along its back shuddered out of alignment, clicking and clacking against one another. Its featureless head jerked violently from side to side, like it was trying to shake off a sound it could not quite locate.
And there, between its shoulder blades, where all four limbs met the spine, a seam of bare flesh opened.
’There you are.’
Nyx dropped into the knight’s shadow and emerged behind its right shoulder, rebar gripped in both hands.
She did not hesitate.
She drove the jagged end into the exposed dorsal nexus with a wet, tearing sound.
The knight screamed.
It was the first sound it had made.
Not a voice. A vibration. A concussive shudder that blew out every remaining window in the alley and dropped Finn to his knees.
[CRITICAL HIT!]
The knight thrashed. One of its secondary blades clipped Nyx across the shoulder and hurled her sideways into a brick wall. She hit hard and crumpled, one foot bent at an angle that made Finn’s stomach turn.
[Nyx — HP: 11%]
’Nyx!’
’I’m fine, I’m fine, it barely—’ She coughed, then winced. ’Alright. I’m not fine. Finish it, Bearer.’
The rebar still jutted from the knight’s back, buried deep in the nexus. The creature clawed at it with its own blades, but the angle made it harder to reach.
Finn was already moving.
He did not think. His body moved before his mind could catch up. He had forty health points, a kitchen knife, and a body that was spectacularly unsuited to any of this.
Still, he ran.
Straight at the thrashing monster.
Then he jumped.
He caught the embedded rebar with both hands, threw all his weight onto it, and drove it deeper.
[-254 HP]
[CRITICAL HIT!]
The Hollow Knight collapsed forward with a thunderous thud. It twitched once. Then twice.
Then it went still.

Finn’s knees gave out.
He hit the cracked tarmac hard beside the Hollow Knight’s corpse, stared at it for a second, then let out a disbelieving laugh.
Across the alley, Nyx pushed herself upright on one arm. Her hair was a complete mess. Her dress was torn, dust-streaked, and bloodied. Even so, her slit-pupilled eyes found his, and something flickered in them.
Amusement, maybe.
But it felt more like approval.
"You," she said aloud—the first words she had spoken out loud since the summoning—"are surprisingly good in a crisis, Bearer."
"I am surprisingly alive," Finn said. "That’s different."
"Mm. Debatable."
He tried to stand and failed. Then he tried again and failed harder. He managed half a crouch before his ribs reminded him, in no uncertain terms, that they were still broken.
"Just stay there," Nyx said.
So he did.
"Let me."
She rose slowly. Finn saw now that her foot had not been broken, only dislocated.
That did not make what happened next any easier to watch.
The joint bent, twisted, and snapped back into place with a thick click he immediately wished he could unhear.
Nyx crossed the alley in four careful steps and lowered herself beside him, close enough that their shoulders almost touched.
She smelled unexpectedly pleasant, some faint sweet fragrance that reminded him of flowers.
"You pulled me out of a very dark place, Bearer," she said quietly. "I had been waiting in the dark for a very long time."
"How long? And where?"
She opened her mouth to answer, but no sound came out. It was as if something in the bond, or something beyond it, refused to let her speak.
Her expression tightened.
"That, I cannot say. Not yet."
She leaned her head back against the brick wall and closed her eyes.
"I owe you a great deal."
"You just saved my life."
"Yes. We appear to have done that for each other at roughly the same time." One corner of her mouth twitched. "I suspect it may become a habit."
Finn looked up.
The rift still hung above the city. Monsters still spilled from it.
Columns of smoke rose from half a dozen boroughs. Somewhere toward the river, something huge roared. Elsewhere came the sounds of panic, of struggle, of people fighting for their lives.
But here, in this alley, in this single stolen moment, Finn felt a bit of peace.
[WARNING: Covenant bond incomplete.]
[The Covenant Bearer and bonded entity must seal the contract within 30 minutes of summoning or the bond will collapse.]
[Bond collapse is fatal to both parties.]
[Time remaining: 7 minutes 14 seconds.] 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Finn read it three times.
Then he glanced at Nyx, who, judging by the sudden dip of her gaze and the way her teasing smile froze at the corners, could apparently see it too.
"Ah," she said.
"Yeah," Finn replied. ’’Ah.’’
"Yes. Well." She cleared her throat delicately. "That is... a complication."
"Nyx," Finn said, glancing at the warning. "It says the bond is incomplete. Can we finish the contract? Because I’d really rather not learn what bond collapse feels like from the inside."
"Yes. Yes, of course." She cleared her throat and sat up straighter, as if dignity alone could save her now. "That would be... wise. We should seal it immediately. Since that is, obviously, the sensible thing to do."
Finn noticed the first cracks in her composure almost at once. Her fingers had knotted together in her lap, and the tips of her ears were turning a fierce, unmistakable red.
"Close your eyes," she said.
He blinked. "Why?"
"Close. Your. Eyes."
He did.
For a few long seconds, nothing happened.
He heard only the faint rustle of fabric, the careful shift of her breathing, the tiny sounds of someone working up the courage to do something catastrophic. Just as he was about to open his eyes—
—soft lips brushed against his.
The kiss was quick, so quick he barely had time to process it, but it was real.
When they parted, his eyes opened at once and found hers already staring back at him. Nyx’s face had gone the color of a ripe summer peach.
And then the system exploded across his vision.
[COVENANT SEALED]
Brilliant white light burst from the space between them and poured through both their bodies. Their hair lifted in the surge, stirred by a force with no wind behind it, and Finn felt something deep and invisible click into place.

Nyx pulled back, though only barely—an inch, maybe two. Their faces were still far too close.
"There," she said, looking everywhere except at him. "It’s done."
Then she raised a hand and pointed at him without meeting his eyes.
"And you."
Finn opened his mouth.
"Will not be making any comments."
"I wasn’t going to—"
"Not a single one."
"I was literally just—"
"Not one, Bearer."
He tried, with heroic and immediate failure, not to smile.
"That wasn’t so bad," he said mildly.
Her head whipped toward him. For one glorious second, the carefully rebuilt mask of composure shattered all over again.
"I will bite you."
"You literally just did a version of that—"
"A DIFFERENT KIND OF BITING, BEARER."
Finn laughed.
He laughed for real, openly, helplessly, with everything he had. It hurt. His ribs complained with every breath, but he laughed anyway. The world was ending, the city was burning, death was still somewhere behind them, and still he laughed.
And Nyx, somehow, surprisingly—laughed too.
It was only a small sound, a single breath of laughter she tried to hide behind her hand and failed to catch in time, but it was there.
Finn looked past her toward the distant glow of the Safe Zone, shimmering faintly only a mile away through the ruined city.
Then he pushed himself to his feet and held out a hand.
"Come on," he said. "Let’s get to the Safe Zone and recover for now. We can figure out the rest after that."
Nyx looked up at him.
The crimson of her eyes caught the pale blue light of the dead vein, and for a fleeting moment she looked less like a girl standing in the wreckage of the world and more like something stepped straight out of a fairy tale.
Then she took his hand.
And behind them, the corpse of the hollow knight watched them leave.
