Chapter 15: Chapter 15: You Can Resist Your Desire for Me to Go to Her

The call ended, and Chloe Reed’s lips curled into a mocking smile.

One after another, they had all canceled her cards.

Restricting her spending, robbing her of her freedom, forcing her to admit she was wrong.

’But how was she wrong?’

People were already shitting on her head. Was she supposed to smile and say, "You’re doing a great job"?

Chloe Reed clutched her phone tightly. Her knees were in too much pain to walk, so she simply sat down on a bench by the road.

She tilted her head back, looking up at the gloomy sky, which was a perfect reflection of her mood.

Her eyes stung fiercely, but she stubbornly refused to let herself cry again.

’Not worth it.’

’Her parents had already been stolen from her.’

’And Walker Grant didn’t love her anymore.’

’So, there was no point crying over them.’

She sat there for a long time. A car pulled to a steady stop in front of her. The door opened, and a familiar figure emerged.

She looked at the newcomer, and her expression instantly turned cold.

She clenched her fists and asked, "Here to finalize the divorce?"

Walker Grant took in her pale face and bloodless lips, his gaze landing on her faintly trembling legs.

Without a word, he strode forward, scooped her into his arms, and headed for the car.

"Let me go!"

Chloe Reed froze for a moment, then immediately began to struggle.

But she was still bundled into the car. He got in right after her and said to the driver, "Back to Jardinelle."

Chloe Reed countered, "To the Civil Affairs Office!"

The driver started the car, ignoring her and taking a different route.

Seeing this, Chloe Reed immediately went for the door handle.

The door opened for an instant. The next second, she was yanked back and pinned against his chest as the door swung shut.

"Lock the doors!"

Walker Grant barked.

The driver jumped and quickly engaged the locks.

The partition between the front and back seats rose, cutting off the driver’s view and sealing them in with the glacial atmosphere.

"Let me go! If we aren’t going to the Civil Affairs Office, then let me out of the car! I don’t want to be in here with you!"

Chloe Reed struggled fiercely.

But she hadn’t eaten and had little strength to begin with. A few moments of struggling left her breathless.

Overwhelmed by her roiling emotions, her eyes grew even redder.

’Don’t cry!’

She gritted her teeth.

But Walker Grant held her tightly, gently restraining her. "Chloe, please stop this, okay?"

Chloe Reed lowered her head and sank her teeth into his hand.

She bit down hard. Soon, she could taste blood, and a tear slid down her cheek.

She wiped it away at once, refusing to cry.

Walker Grant winced in pain but didn’t release her. He just said in a raspy voice, "I’m good to Noah because he’s my big brother’s only child. My brother is dead, and Noah is still so little. "I can’t understand!"

Chloe’s emotions flared. She glared at him. "You were with her for her entire pregnancy! After Noah Grant was born, you’d rush over for every little headache and fever the moment Sunny Reed called. You’ve even left me, when we were about to get in bed, to go to her! Walker Grant, how am I supposed to understand any of that?!"

She grabbed his collar, her eyes bloodshot as she stared at him. "You can suppress your desire for me to go to her, and you still have the nerve to say you haven’t changed? That you’re not in love with her?"

Her voice choked with a sob. "Walker Grant, you were never like this before!"

It was precisely because she had seen the intensity of his love for her in the past that she could now feel his changes so keenly.

And it was why she couldn’t accept it at all.
