Walker’s narrow eyes gazed intently at her as he said, "Chloe, we used to come to this restaurant all the time. Have you forgotten?"

Chloe Reed was speechless.

Walker Grant lowered his gaze to Noah in his arms and asked, "What do you want to eat?"

Noah had already spotted the delicious food on the table, and his eyes lit up. He pointed to each dish and said, "Little Uncle, I want to eat all of it."

Walker Grant called a waiter over, asked for an extra place setting, and then ordered several more dishes.

Owen Sterling, sitting across from them, was completely ignored.

"Ahem..." Owen Sterling coughed lightly, reminding them he was still there.

Chloe Reed looked at him apologetically. "I’m sorry this meal hasn’t been very pleasant."

Owen Sterling laughed awkwardly. "Actually, I think it’s fine."

He was a bit constrained as he looked at Walker Grant. "Hello, Mr. Grant. My name is Owen Sterling, and I’m..."

"The desserts here are delicious. How come you didn’t order any this time?"

But Walker didn’t even spare Owen a glance, continuing his conversation with Chloe Reed instead.

Chloe Reed ignored Walker as well. She stood up and said, "Manager Owen, are you finished? Shall I drive you back?"

Owen Sterling didn’t really want to leave. ’This was such a rare opportunity to get acquainted with Walker Grant.’

"I... I haven’t..." Owen Sterling wanted to stay.

Chloe Reed’s brow furrowed slightly; she understood what he was thinking. She looked at Walker Grant and said, "This is the new manager in our department. His name is Owen Sterling."

This time, Walker Grant’s gaze fell on Owen Sterling.

Owen Sterling immediately sat bolt upright, his attitude humble and respectful. "Mr. Grant, hello."

There was no change of expression on Walker Grant’s handsome face, but a faint chill clouded his dark eyes.

He asked coolly, "Why are you having a meal with my wife?"

Owen Sterling froze. "Huh?"

Chloe Reed scowled at him. "He helped me last night. I’m treating him to a meal to thank him."

Walker Grant immediately shot back, "I helped you too. I took you to the hospital, and I dealt with those two scumbags. Why aren’t you thanking me properly?"

Chloe Reed was speechless.

’Seriously. If he’s sick in the head, he should get it treated. Why does he have to come pestering me for attention?’

Sitting across from them, Owen Sterling could feel the palpable tension in the air.

He suddenly regretted staying. "Chloe Reed, I’m finished eating. I’ll be leaving now," he said.

Chloe Reed said, "I’ll walk you out." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

"N-no, that’s not necessary."

Owen Sterling quickly waved his hands, declining her offer. "Goodbye, Mr. Grant."

Then, he hurried out of the restaurant.

But Chloe Reed was boxed in and couldn’t even get up, let alone see him out.

She looked at Walker Grant. "You scared him off. Are you satisfied?"

To her surprise, he just arched an eyebrow. "Did I scare him?"

Lowering his gaze, he asked Noah, "Did Little Uncle scare him?"

Noah shook his head. "No."

Walker Grant then looked at her, a faint smile playing on his lips.

Chloe Reed shot him a look, then turned to gaze out the window. Her expression grew several degrees colder, stripped of even a polite, distant smile.

Walker Grant stared at her profile. "You still haven’t said how you’re going to thank me."

"I’m not going to thank you," Chloe Reed said. "I’m just that kind of ungrateful person, so you should hurry up and finalize our divorce."

The smile on Walker Grant’s lips faltered.

Just then, the desserts arrived.

Walker Grant poked Noah on the arm.

Noah glanced at him, then held the dessert cup with both hands and presented it to Chloe Reed. "Little Aunt, have some sweet soup."
