Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 155: She Sent Him a Woman
"Chloe, I’ve barely slept in a day and a night," Walker’s voice was thick with exhaustion.
"Too bad you didn’t just drop dead."
Chloe Reed was pinned by his iron arms, unable to break free. She only exhausted herself to the point of panting as she cursed at him viciously.
Walker didn’t care in the slightest. He just held her close. As long as she was in his arms, he felt a sense of peace.
His breath washed over her ear. Chloe Reed turned her head aside and stopped struggling, conserving her strength.
He was clearly exhausted, and his breathing soon evened out.
The arm pinning her down loosened considerably. Chloe Reed pressed her lips together, a complicated expression flickering in her eyes.
She slid his arm off her, left the bedroom, and even pulled the door shut behind her.
Once she was out, she dialed Selene Adler’s number.
"Mrs. Grant." Selene Adler answered, her voice laced with confusion. "It’s so late. Is something the matter?"
Chloe Reed’s tone was flat. "I’m sending you an address. Come and take care of Walker Grant."
With that, she hung up.
’She’d given her the opportunity. Whether Selene Adler could seize it was up to her.’
「An hour later.」
Selene Adler stepped out of the elevator. Seeing the apartment door slightly ajar, her palms began to sweat with nervousness.
She pushed the door open and stepped inside. The apartment was empty, and only the bedroom door was shut tight.
She walked to the bedroom door and quietly pushed it open. Inside, Walker Grant was lying on his side, fast asleep.
A flicker of excitement flashed in Selene Adler’s eyes, but she didn’t approach him right away.
’Now isn’t the time.
I have to take this slow.’
...
Surrounded by the lingering scent of Chloe Reed, Walker Grant slept more soundly than he had in a long time.
He didn’t stir until the next morning.
He opened his eyes, but there was no sign of Chloe Reed in the bedroom.
He draped an arm over his eyes and let out a soft sigh.
’She must have slipped out after I fell asleep last night. She’s probably in the guest room.’
’Her aversion to him was still so palpable.’
Walker Grant got up and washed his face. He didn’t have any clothes here, so he simply wrapped a bath towel around his waist and stepped out of the bedroom.
He had already told Dylan Finch to bring him a change of clothes. For now, he was going to find her.
But the moment he opened the bedroom door, a voice that was definitely not Chloe Reed’s called out.
"Mr. Grant, you’re awake."
Walker Grant’s brow furrowed instantly. He turned to see Selene Adler emerging from the kitchen, a stunned expression on her face as she stared at his body.
Walker Grant’s face darkened in an instant. He spun around and stalked back into the bedroom.
"Get out!"
His furious roar echoed from the bedroom.
Selene Adler hastily put down the breakfast and rushed out, but she stopped just outside the door, her face burning.
Dylan Finch arrived shortly after. He was surprised to see her at the door. "Hey, what are you doing at Mrs. Grant’s place?"
Selene Adler said, "It... It was Mrs. Grant who called me. She asked me to come make breakfast for Mr. Grant."
Hearing this, Dylan Finch’s eye twitched. He knew better than to pry any further.
He schooled his expression, knocked on the door, and went inside.
A moment later, he came out and said, "Mr. Grant wants you to go in."
Selene Adler lowered her gaze and walked inside.
Walker Grant had already changed. His handsome face was exceptionally grim, and his sharp eyes were layered with an icy frost. "Why are you here?"
So, Selene Adler repeated herself.
"Hah!"
Walker Grant let out a cold sneer.
’Chloe Reed sent for her?!’
’What is she playing at?!’
Walker Grant called Chloe Reed, but was met with the automated message that her phone was off. He gripped his phone tightly and snapped at Dylan Finch, "Find Chloe Reed for me!"
