Chapter 187: Chapter 187: Don’t Get Handsy

But Walker Grant, who was already walking right up to them, was completely ignored by her.

Chloe Reed said to her, "We met at the banquet. Didn’t I tell you?"

"I know, I know," Iris Yates said. "I just thought you had a normal working relationship. But now it looks like it’s not normal at all. He actually came to pick you up!"

She grabbed Chloe Reed’s arm and started walking toward Preston Vance. "Come on, come on, introduce me to the young master of the Vance family. He’s pretty handsome, you know."

Chloe Reed was a little exasperated but went along with her.

Walker Grant, who had already reached them, frowned immediately and grabbed Chloe Reed’s other hand.

"Chloe."

Like a mother hen protecting her chick, Iris Yates yanked Chloe Reed behind her and eyed him with extreme vigilance. "What do you think you’re doing? If you have something to say, then say it. Don’t get all handsy!"

A shadow fell over Walker Grant’s handsome face.

Iris Yates instinctively flinched.

"Get lost."

Walker Grant’s tone was devoid of any warmth.

Iris Yates flinched again. ’She was still a little afraid of this damned scumbag.’

’But she couldn’t just stand by and watch him bully her dear Chloe!’

"Wh-what do you want? This is the entrance to the police station, you better watch yourself!" Iris Yates said defiantly.

Walker Grant’s icy gaze landed on her face. "I’d like to ask you where you think you’re taking my wife."

Pushing through her fear, Iris Yates retorted, "Your wife? My dear Chloe has wanted to divorce you for ages! If you were any kind of man, you wouldn’t be pestering her like this. It’s a major turn-off, you know?"

But Walker Grant said coldly, "Chloe knows whether I’m a man or not. I don’t need to prove it to you."

He couldn’t be bothered to waste any more words on Iris Yates. Turning to Chloe Reed, his gaze softened slightly. "Chloe, I came to get you. I already booked a table at that restaurant you like. Let’s go eat together."

"No, thank you. I have plans." Chloe Reed’s expression was frigid, and her gaze grew even more distant.

Walker Grant took a step forward. "Chloe, I’ve already made the reservation."

"Then go eat by yourself!" Iris Yates cut in. "If you’re lonely, you can always ask your sister-in-law to join you. Oh, right, she’s your wife’s older sister, too. How thrilling."

"Keep making noise like that, and I’ll make sure you never see her again for the rest of your life." Walker Grant shot her a cold glance.

Iris Yates flinched. ’She wanted to curse him out, her lips moved, but she managed to hold it in.’

’Because that damned scumbag really had the power to do it.’

’He wouldn’t do anything to Chloe Reed, but she would definitely end up stuffed in some godforsaken corner, never to be seen again.’

Chloe Reed pulled Iris Yates behind her and looked at him coldly. "I don’t want to go. Can’t you understand plain English?"

Walker Grant’s expression darkened even further.

"Pardon the interruption."

Just then, a gentle voice spoke up. "It may be impolite to speak up right now, but I must say, it’s getting late. We should take Miss Reed to eat first."

Preston Vance had walked over at some point. He said with a smile, "Mr. Grant, please join us as well."

Iris Yates rolled her eyes. ’The last thing she wanted was to bring that damned scumbag along.’

Walker Grant, however, kept his eyes fixed on Chloe Reed, a dark emotion swirling in their depths.

Chloe Reed frowned slightly and looked at Preston Vance, only to see the refined, polite smile on his face. "Let’s get in the car."

The sky was clear and blue, the sun shining brightly, yet an inexplicable, oppressive feeling began to permeate the air. It was tinged with threads of coldness that made one’s heart clench.
