Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 210: Your Mother Loves You Very Much
"Autumn!"
Charles Reed shot up in shock and rushed over.
Autumn Linton’s hand brushed past Chloe Reed’s fingers before falling limp.
Chloe Reed’s heart suddenly clenched. She instinctively bent down and hugged her. "Mom..."
Her voice was trembling.
Charles Reed roared, "Call an ambulance!"
In the ensuing chaos, Autumn Linton was rushed to the hospital.
「Outside the emergency room.」
Charles Reed’s back was slightly hunched, and the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes seemed to have deepened.
He looked at Chloe Reed and sighed. "You’ve angered your mother into this state. Are you satisfied now?"
Chloe Reed’s lips pressed into a thin line, her face cold as ice.
Walker Grant spoke up. "You wouldn’t back down an inch and kept forcing her hand. When she fights back to protect herself, how does that suddenly become her fault?"
Charles Reed scowled at him. "Walker Grant, only now do I see what a hypocrite you are."
He then turned to Chloe Reed. "Chloe, if you want a divorce, I won’t stop you. He’s ruthless, hypocritical, and selfish. Being with him will only bring you more pain."
Walker Grant’s eyes narrowed dangerously as he said coolly, "At a time like this, you should watch what you say."
His words were a warning.
The Reed Group was now in a precarious position.
Whether it went bankrupt or not depended entirely on a whim from Walker Grant.
If they truly angered him, he wouldn’t hold back at all.
Charles Reed was furious, but he couldn’t afford to lash out right now.
Chloe Reed, meanwhile, stared toward the emergency room, her mind in turmoil.
The wait was long, and as time ticked by, anxiety began to set in.
Finally, the doors to the emergency room opened.
Autumn Linton was wheeled out on a hospital bed.
Charles Reed immediately rushed forward. "Doctor, how is she?"
The doctor replied, "It’s a heart condition. She can’t handle any more stress. She needs complete rest."
Charles Reed swayed on his feet.
He quickly steadied himself against the wall to keep from collapsing.
He turned back, scowling at Chloe Reed. "Count for yourself, how many times has this been? Do you want us both dead? Is that what will make you happy?"
Chloe Reed’s face was pale as she gazed at the unconscious Autumn Linton.
’A heart condition is very dangerous.’
’The slightest misstep could be fatal.’
She didn’t dare imagine such a scenario.
She followed silently behind the hospital bed until they were back in the room.
The doctors and nurses left, and the room fell silent.
Charles Reed sat by the hospital bed and said in a heavy voice, "Chloe, if you still care about your mother at all, then stop saying such hurtful, infuriating things. When your mother was pregnant with you, she suffered terribly. The pregnancy was incredibly hard on her. She had morning sickness starting at two months, and it didn’t stop until the day you were born. She was so thin she was almost unrecognizable, but she loved you so much."
Talk of severing ties was like twisting a knife in Autumn Linton’s heart.
Chloe Reed kept her eyes downcast, only speaking after a long pause. "Before I was ten, I could feel your love. But after I turned ten, I couldn’t feel it anymore."
"That’s because you’re too sensitive!"
Charles Reed looked at her. "Sunny has always deferred to you, yet you’ve never considered how hard it must be for an orphan like her, living in our home. She’s insecure and sensitive, so even when you misunderstand her and she feels wronged, she never complains."
Chloe Reed’s hands clenched into fists. "That’s not what happened."
Charles Reed looked at her, his expression weary. "Even now, you’re still so stubbornly blind."
But Chloe Reed insisted, "She’s faking it! She deliberately plays the victim to win your sympathy and make you hate me!"
Charles Reed averted his gaze, refusing to look at her any longer.
