Chapter 242: Chapter 242: Grandma Has Arrived

After hanging up, Chloe Reed’s brow furrowed.

She then dialed Miles Hawthorne’s number.

"Hello?" Miles Hawthorne’s puzzled voice came through the line. "What’s wrong?"

Chloe Reed explained what had happened with the paternity test, then asked, "Is that something that could actually happen?"

Miles Hawthorne was taken aback. "Seriously? I’ll ask around and get back to you in a bit."

"Okay."

Miles Hawthorne had been the one to recommend the testing facility, so he knew the people there. It would be easier for him to get answers and find out what had really happened.

Chloe Reed studied her script while she waited.

Half an hour later, Miles Hawthorne called back.

"Ugh... I found out what happened," Miles Hawthorne said with a sigh. "They said someone in data management made a mistake and accidentally formatted everything. The person was already fired. It’s not just your results—all the tests have to be redone."

Chloe Reed nodded slowly. "Alright. I guess I’ll just wait a few more days."

"Yeah. What’s another few days?"

Chloe lowered her eyes, her thoughts suddenly turning to Walker Grant. "Do you think," she began, "it’s possible he tampered with it?"

"Huh?" Miles Hawthorne was stunned. "Who? Walker Grant?" 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"Yes. He knows about it," Chloe affirmed.

Miles Hawthorne mulled it over for a moment before replying, "He wouldn’t have any reason to do that. It probably wasn’t him."

Chloe pressed her temples. "I hope I’m just overthinking it."

’Walker Grant had her so on edge, she was jumping at shadows.’

"Alright, try not to worry. Nothing else is going to go wrong," Miles Hawthorne reassured her with a laugh.

"Okay."

After hanging up, Chloe Reed got some water, trying to quickly shift back into work mode.

Meetings, script analysis, recording...

But just as she was getting into the emotional headspace for her role, she glanced up and saw Walker Grant. He was sitting in a chair, watching her. She had no idea when he’d arrived.

The mood she had carefully built instantly vanished.

Kyle Coleman’s brow furrowed. "What’s going on?"

Chloe Reed pointed at Walker Grant. "Get him out of here!"

Kyle turned, saw him, and sighed in resignation. "Mr. Grant, is there something you need?"

Walker Grant’s handsome features were sharp, his expression impassive. "I’m just here to watch."

Kyle didn’t mince words. "But your presence is disrupting our work. It would be best if you left."

Walker Grant shot him a cool glance from his deep, piercing eyes.

A chill washed over Kyle. He felt a flicker of unease, but pressed on, "Mr. Grant, could you please not bring your personal affairs with Chloe Reed into the workplace? It’s really holding up our progress."

To his surprise, Walker Grant didn’t argue. He simply stood up and left the recording studio.

Chloe Reed breathed a sigh of relief and began to get back into character.

The dubbing for the series was nearing completion. They couldn’t afford any more setbacks; it would be impossible to find a replacement at this stage.

By the time Chloe Reed finished, the workday was over.

She was packing her things to head out when her phone rang. She pulled it out, and her eyes instantly lit up when she saw the screen.

"Hello, Grandma."

Her grandmother’s kind, gentle voice came through the phone. "Chloe, where are you?"

"I just got off work, Grandma." Chloe’s tone softened instinctively. She asked, "What’s up? Did you come over?"

"I did," her grandmother said with a laugh. "Walker picked me up. I’m at your home now. How long until you get back?"

Chloe’s hand tightened on her phone. ’Grandma’s here!’

’And Walker picked her up and took her to Jardinelle!’

’How did he even know Grandma was coming?’
