Chloe Reed: "..."

She looked away and walked into the living room, then asked, "Is there anything I need to prepare?"

"No, you just need to come with me," Walker Grant said calmly.

"Okay."

Chloe Reed’s heart tightened.

Once she met this person, she would finally know who wanted to kill her. The mystery that had been shrouding her all this time would be solved.

She grew inexplicably nervous.

"..."

Having applied his medicine and taken his pills on schedule for the past few days, Walker Grant’s wounds healed rapidly. The appointed time soon arrived.

Chloe Reed first video-called her grandmother. After confirming the old woman’s condition was relatively stable, she was finally able to relax.

When she left her room, she saw Walker Grant dressed in a simple white shirt and trousers. He had the top two buttons of his collar undone, giving him a casual, untamed air.

"Are we leaving now?"

Chloe Reed was so nervous her palms were sweating.

"Yes."

Walker Grant nodded, walked over, glanced at her, and then took her hand. "Don’t be afraid."

Chloe Reed’s eyelashes fluttered. She pulled her hand away and said, "I’m not afraid. I’m just a little nervous about finally finding out who’s behind all this."

His palm was left empty. Her attitude remained cold and distant.

Walker Grant simply shoved his hand into his pants pocket and said coolly, "In this kind of situation, you might need to play along with me."

Chloe Reed looked up at him, puzzled. "How do I play along?"

"As my date, you first need to take my arm. Make people think you’re just someone unimportant." Walker Grant raised an eyebrow, looking at her cold and distant demeanor.

A hint of suspicion appeared in Chloe Reed’s clear, watery eyes. "Are you serious?"

"The person we’re meeting is a foreigner and is very wary of these things. If he discovers you’re approaching him with an ulterior motive, he definitely won’t tell the truth," Walker Grant explained.

Chloe Reed still didn’t quite believe him.

She couldn’t shake the feeling that he was digging a trap, just waiting for her to fall in.

Walker Grant turned and walked toward the door, his deep, magnetic voice flat. "You don’t have to believe me, but then you’ll miss this opportunity."

Chloe Reed pressed her lips together slightly and followed him, not saying a word the entire way.

But when they arrived at the Blue Night Club and got out of the car, she reached out and took his arm.

Walker Grant glanced down, an almost imperceptible smile touching his thin lips, and started walking inside.

The private room was on the 6th floor.

The attendant at the door opened it, bowing respectfully. Walker Grant led Chloe Reed inside.

The room was very large, and there were already quite a few people inside.

Nathaniel Monroe was among them, talking to a man sitting in the center of the sofa.

Chloe Reed glanced up and saw that the man was very tall, with deep, sculpted features. His eye sockets were deep-set, and his azure eyes were like pearls lost at the bottom of the sea—exceptionally clear and enchanting.

But this person gave off a very dangerous feeling. The moment they entered, his gaze landed directly on her.

His eyes were incredibly sharp, carrying an intense, oppressive weight.

Chloe Reed lowered her gaze slightly, her palms sweating from nervousness.

Walker Grant discreetly moved to stand in front of her, blocking the man’s line of sight.

"Mr. Quinn."

The tall man stood up, walked over to shake Walker Grant’s hand, and patted his shoulder. "Mr. Grant, a pleasure to finally meet you. And this lady is?"
