Chapter 448: Chapter 448: Found

Hearing the way William addressed him, Walker Grant arched an eyebrow. "I’ll be as quick as I can."

With that, he hung up.

"Damn it!"

William Quinn ended the call, his expression turning ugly. He felt like Walker Grant had played him, but he had no proof!

He was still standing outside the bar from that night, watching the crowd file in and out. His blue eyes scanned every girl who passed, searching for the one who had made his heart pound and his adrenaline surge that one evening.

The memory of that night was intoxicating, and he was still savoring it. Every time he replayed it in his mind, he would become unbearably frustrated.

He’d never gotten involved in things like this before; he’d always found them dirty. When he saw people throwing parties—threesomes, or even orgies with a dozen people—it made him sick to his stomach.

Besides, that woman had told him never to hurt a girl. If he accidentally did, he had to take responsibility for her.

He hadn’t hurt a girl. It was the girl who had hurt *him*, but she ran off. She wasn’t taking responsibility for him!

William Quinn was furious. His handsome, chiseled face was exceptionally cold. Tall, with brilliant blue eyes, he was a striking sight just standing there.

A steady stream of girls came up to hit on him, but he impatiently shooed them all away.

After standing there until five in the morning, William Quinn returned to his hotel, a look of disappointment on his face.

...

When Chloe Reed woke up, she found herself on the sofa. She froze for a moment, then turned her head to see Walker Grant sitting in a chair by the hospital bed, looking at his phone.

She sat up and asked, puzzled, "You didn’t sleep all night?"

Walker Grant looked at her, a faint smile in his eyes. "Chloe, are you worried about me?"

Chloe Reed: "..."

’It was a waste of breath to even say a word to him.’

She went to the bathroom to wash up. When she came out, she was carrying a basin of water with a towel draped over the side. She carefully began to wipe her grandmother’s face and body.

Her grandmother was still in a coma, her complexion still pallid. Chloe Reed’s heart ached with sadness.

The doctor came by on their rounds, their expression grave. They explained that analyzing the toxin would take time. The specialists had already held a consultation, but the results wouldn’t be available so soon.

Chloe Reed watched from the side, a hint of anxiety showing in her eyes.

After the doctors had all left, she turned to Walker Grant. "When will we get any news about Sunny Reed?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

"I’m not sure," Walker Grant said in a low voice.

The color drained from Chloe Reed’s face.

Just then, his phone rang. He took it out, glanced at the screen, and answered. "Speak."

A moment later, he looked at Chloe Reed, his handsome face growing solemn. "We have a lead."

Chloe Reed’s eyes lit up as she asked urgently, "What is it?"

"Eat your breakfast first," Walker Grant said. "I’ll tell you after you’re done."

Chloe Reed frowned. "Are you serious right now? Can you please stop being cryptic?"

"I’m worried you’ll lose your appetite after you hear it," Walker Grant replied.

Chloe Reed was reluctant, but he had already made up his mind, and there was nothing she could do to change it.

Breakfast had already been delivered. She had no appetite at all, but to keep up her strength, she forced herself to have half a bowl of congee and an egg.

She looked at him. "Can you tell me now?"

Walker Grant was in the middle of eating a steamed bun. He arched an eyebrow. "I’m not finished yet."

Chloe Reed: "..."

She sat to the side, patiently watching him, the anxiety in her eyes growing more and more intense.

Just as her patience was about to run out, Walker Grant finally finished eating. He looked at her, a hint of resignation in his eyes.
