Chapter 504: Bring Sunny Reed Here!
Walker Grant got in the car, and the driver drove away from the area.
Walker Grant took Noah straight to a psychologist for a therapy session to help stabilize his emotions. Noah ended up falling asleep right there at the therapist’s office.
By the time they returned to the Grant Family Estate, the sky had begun to dim. Dinner was ready in the kitchen. Walker Grant handled some business matters before asking the nanny to go get Noah.
But a moment later, the nanny came running down the stairs in a panic, her face pale. "Mr. Grant, something’s wrong! It’s terrible! The young master... he’s... something’s very wrong with him!"
Upon hearing this, Walker Grant’s sharp brows furrowed. "What happened?" he asked in a low voice. "Does he have a fever?"
The nanny said, "He has a slight fever, but... it looks much more serious than just a fever..."
Walker Grant rushed upstairs to Noah’s room. He found Noah lying on the bed, his face ashen. His lips were a dark, unnatural color, and his breathing was faint.
The scene was horribly familiar.
Walker Grant was instantly reminded of what the family matriarch looked like when she had been poisoned.
Noah looked almost exactly the same as she had.
Walker Grant’s expression instantly turned grim. He scooped Noah into his arms and rushed him to the hospital.
After a thorough examination, the doctor quickly came to a conclusion: Noah had been poisoned.
"Can we use the last antidote?" Walker Grant asked in a grave voice.
The doctor shook his head. "The symptoms are very similar, but the poison’s composition has definitely been altered. This new poison is even more potent than the last one. The antidote we developed before is now useless." 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Walker Grant’s expression darkened at the doctor’s words. He pulled out his phone and called the bodyguard. "Bring Sunny Reed here immediately!"
Her flight was scheduled to take off in an hour. To prevent Sunny Reed from trying to escape again, the bodyguard was watching her around the clock.
When the call came through, the bodyguard was clearly taken aback. He instinctively asked, "Mr. Grant, are we no longer sending her abroad?"
Sunny Reed, who had been sitting quietly, lifted her gaze to the bodyguard upon hearing his words.
Walker Grant said, "Bring her to the hospital immediately!"
"Yes, sir."
Sunny Reed was brought to the hospital. When she saw the small, unconscious figure in the intensive care unit, tears streamed down her face.
"My son..."
"How could you be so heartless!" Walker Grant stared at her. This woman constantly shattered his perception of cruelty.
’She actually poisoned her own son!’
Sunny Reed pressed her hands against the glass, tears streaming down her face. Suddenly, she let out a short, sharp laugh. "If I didn’t do this, would I be able to stay by my son’s side? Walker Grant, you’re the truly heartless one. I saved your life, and this is how you repay me. You’ll get what’s coming to you!"
’Even now, she still finds time to curse me.’
"Give me the antidote."
Walker Grant stared at her, his eyes dark and cold.
But Sunny Reed just said, "I want to stay by my son’s side. I want to be there as he grows up. If you don’t agree, I will never give you the antidote. If worst comes to worst, my son and I can just die together. At least death would be a clean end. It’s just... will you be able to face your older brother? He didn’t have to die all those years ago, you know."
Walker Grant’s expression grew even more grim. He wanted nothing more than to strangle this venomous woman.
Sunny Reed looked back at the child in the ICU, her tone softening. "Don’t be scared, Noah. Mommy will always be here with you."
Time was running out. If they didn’t get the antidote soon, the child’s life could be in danger at any moment.
In the end, Walker Grant relented. His voice was hoarse. "Just give me the antidote first."
