’He takes every chance he gets to benefit himself.’

’This man’s shamelessness and audacity were beyond anything she could have imagined.’

Chloe pushed at him, only to find he wouldn’t budge. In fact, the harder she pushed, the tighter he held her.

Nathaniel Monroe had forgotten his phone. When he returned to get it, he peeked inside only to see the two of them locked in a passionate kiss. His expression stiffened, and he immediately ducked back out. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

"What is it? What happened?"

Daniel Hayes asked with a puzzled look, seeing him suddenly reappear.

Nathaniel Monroe pushed him back. "No, no, it’s nothing, nothing at all. I was just thinking, I’d like to ask you about something. Those moves from earlier, how did you do them? You should teach me..."

With that, he pushed Daniel Hayes away.

’No way!’

’Walker had finally managed to kiss her. He absolutely could not let anyone disturb them!’

Daniel Hayes’s attention was quickly diverted. He didn’t hold back, teaching Nathaniel everything he knew, and Nathaniel proved to be a very dedicated student.

By the time Walker and Chloe emerged from the room, they saw the two men already practicing in an open space in the garden.

Chloe stood and watched for a moment, but when she realized she couldn’t make heads or tails of it, she gave up.

They got in the car and drove straight back to Jardinelle.

However, when they entered the living room, they saw someone completely unexpected sitting on the sofa.

"What are you doing here?!"

Chloe’s expression instantly turned cold, her clear eyes filled with an intense chill.

The person on the sofa was none other than Charles Reed. Seeing them, he immediately shot to his feet, his face a mask of apprehension.

He no longer looked as dapper and polished as he once did. He was wearing old clothes, his hair was streaked with much more gray, and a deep weariness was etched into his features.

"Chloe, it’s... Your grandmother wanted to see your mother, so I brought her."

As he spoke, he couldn’t help but let out a sigh. "Your mother... she’s not going to make it."

Chloe’s face tensed, and she began to scan the room for her grandmother.

She knew her grandmother had wanted to see Autumn Linton, but had hesitated several times and never made contact herself.

’So why contact them now?’

A maid standing nearby said, "Ma’am, the elderly lady is in her room."

Chloe immediately headed for the room. The door was ajar, and Annie York was standing in the doorway.

When Annie York saw her, she walked over, her face fraught with guilt and anxiety. "Chloe, I... I think I did something wrong."

Hearing this, Chloe frowned and looked at her in confusion. "What do you mean?"

Annie York bit her lip, looking at Chloe nervously. "I... I saw your grandmother kept trying to call someone, but she’d give up every time. Yesterday, she even typed in the number but didn’t press dial. I figured she must really want to see this person, so... so I took it upon myself to make the call for her, and I invited her over..."

Watching Chloe’s expression grow colder and colder, Annie grew so frightened her own face turned pale. "Chloe, did I really do something wrong?"

Chloe closed her eyes. ’She never, ever would have imagined that Annie was the one who did this!’

’No wonder Charles Reed and Autumn Linton were here!’

’Her grandmother, despite her wavering, would never have called Autumn Linton!’

’Because she knew perfectly well that Autumn Linton was the one who had poisoned her!’

’She both loved and hated a daughter like that. Right now, it was best for them not to meet.’
