"I can’t leave you alone like that to sacrifice yourself for me. I... I can’t do that."

"Don’t be so overdramatic. He won’t die even if he is slain," Husk said.

"Huh? Is that true, System?"

"But still... to sacrifice someone..." Oliver felt a bit of relief, but he still didn’t like the idea of sacrificing others for his own safety. In his previous mafia life, all members were like family. And every family had to be protected.

"Don’t... worry... Master. I... don’t plan... to be... defeated... here," Nyx said.

"There. He already said it. Now let’s go and beat the boss monster. I don’t want to stay in this dungeon any longer," Husk added.

Oliver stayed silent for a moment before nodding. He then looked at Nyx.

"Do your best, Nyx. And if things get out of control, come into the cave with us," Oliver said.

Nyx nodded and immediately began hovering higher and higher. Oliver covered his right hand with a crimson aura while gripping the Assault Dagger in his left.

As Nyx stopped ascending, he looked down. The spiders below had yet to notice him. Slowly, he raised his left cannon arm and began charging it. It was the precursor to his Cataclysm Beam skill.

After a few seconds, the charge was complete.

BOOM!!

A blinding blast shot downward into the swarm. Dozens of spiders were instantly obliterated and leaving behind a massive crater. The remaining spiders screeched and scattered as their attention snapping in all directions.

BOOM!!

Another explosion erupted on the opposite side, shaking the ground. One of the Arachoid scanned the surroundings before finally spotting Nyx in the sky.

But before it could alert the others, it was stabbed from behind.

Oliver finished off the Arachoid. He then used Quickstep to dash forward and unleashed Crimson Slash, cutting down nearly ten Arachix in a single sweep.

On the other side, Husk rampaged through the swarm, killing nearly fifty spiders within a minute. The area quickly turned into a slaughter zone.

"Nice! This dungeon is actually a great place to complete this mission. I should try to finish it as much as possible."

Oliver then rushed toward another group of Arachix and cut them all down. Thanks to Nyx’s continuous bombardment from above, the spiders’ attention was split between Oliver and Husk on the ground, and Nyx in the sky.

Suddenly, one of the larger spiders appeared and shot a web from its mouth toward Nyx. The strand stretched far enough to latch onto Nyx’s leg.

Nyx was dragged lower toward the ground. As he descended, more Arachix and Arachoids shot webs at him, binding his body and pulling him down further.

Nyx struggled to break free, but his movement was restricted. He couldn’t even aim his cannon properly.

Seeing this, Oliver immediately charged toward the swarm surrounding Nyx.

But suddenly, a massive spider blocked his path. It stood at least four metres tall, with a purple streak running across its body.

"Rank B, huh? This is going to be troublesome," Oliver muttered.

This was, by far, the highest-rank non-boss monster he had ever faced.

The Arachcrux swung its sharp front legs forward. Oliver countered with Crimson Slash and the clash sparked on impact. He then twisted his body and followed up with Assault Slash, but the Arachcrux reacted faster. It leapt over him and landed behind his back.

Oliver tried to turn but it was too late.

A sharp strike landed, and poison seeped into his body.

Instantly, a burning sensation spread across his back. The Arachcrux continued by spitting venom toward him, but Oliver had already stepped back, using Quickstep to evade the follow-up attack.

[Host is being poisoned. Use antidote immediately.]

Oliver quickly pulled out a Venin Leaf Extract from his bag and poured it onto his back. But even after a few minutes, the poison still lingered. A wave of dizziness and nausea hit him.

"Damn it! Is the antidote not working? Or is the venom too strong?"

He grabbed another bottle and applied it again, this time even drinking a portion of it.

Meanwhile, the Arachcrux crawled closer. Its many eyes locked onto Oliver, ready to strike at any moment.

After a short while, the poison finally began to subside. Just as Oliver lifted his head, the Arachcrux leapt at him.

"Dominating Blow!"

Oliver activated the skill instantly, stunning it mid-air. In the next moment, he drove his Crimson Fang straight into its head, crushing it completely.

Suddenly, Oliver saw Nyx completely covered in spiders of all kinds. They swarmed over him, biting relentlessly. Even with his hardened shell, the continuous assault was slowly cracking his body.

Without hesitation, Oliver shouted.

"Husk! Let’s synchronize!"

Husk was momentarily surprised by the sudden call, but he accepted it without delay.

BOOM!!

A powerful explosion erupted from Oliver’s position as a crimson aura engulfed his body.

In the next instant, he dashed forward at blinding speed and arrived beside Nyx.

Without wasting a second, he unleashed multiple skills in succession, cutting down every monster surrounding him.

"Thank... you..." Nyx said.

But Oliver had already moved on, cutting down every spider in the surrounding area. He maximized the short window of Synchronization, focusing entirely on wiping out the swarm.

After a few minutes, at the center of the battlefield, a mountain of spider carcasses had formed, with a lone boy sitting atop it.
