Chapter 40: Chapter 40 Prodigal Twins

Auron’s arms became covered in flames. The heat and intensity were so overwhelming that comparing them to the flames Ray once created was like comparing a volcano to a matchstick.

Both he and Ignivor charged forward at incredible speed.

Oliver, however, did not retreat. Instead, his eyes sharpened with focus. To be honest, he was excited. He wanted to know just how strong a Rank S monster truly was.

Without hesitation, Oliver dashed forward and met Auron head-on in the middle of the boss room.

Aria was slightly stunned by the sight.

She had never expected Oliver to confront Auron without even a hint of fear. Most hunters who witnessed the intensity of Auron’s abilities would instinctively back away.

But this boy was the complete opposite. And that only made Aria even more worried.

Oliver immediately summoned Husk and covered his right hand with a crimson aura.

As they closed the distance between each other, both Oliver and Auron threw their fists forward at the same time.

The moment their fists collided, an explosion of flames and crimson energy erupted, sending a powerful shockwave throughout the room.

Boom!

Both of them were pushed backward from the impact.

At the same time, Husk and Ignivor clashed at the center of the boss room, taking the place of their masters.

Ignivor’s claws burned with intense flames as it slashed toward Husk. However, Husk swiftly countered and swung back at the fiery dragon.

A fierce exchange instantly broke out between the two monsters.

Every collision between their attacks created violent explosions that blasted against the walls and ground, shattering the rocky surroundings.

After several exchanges, Husk jumped back and landed beside Oliver.

"Be careful, kid! That monster is strong," Husk warned him.

"Don’t say something so obvious. Of course I know. It’s Rank S after all. But aren’t you a boss monster? You should have the upper hand."

"If I were in my full form, I could easily blast him away. But right now, my power is limited thanks to my weak master."

"Oii! Why are you blaming me?" Oliver argued back.

On the other side, Auron’s face showed clear signs of surprise.

For the second time in his life, someone had managed to withstand his full power without suffering any injuries. The first person was his own Master.

This was something he had never expected.

"Does that mean his monster is also Rank S?" Auron muttered.

That was the only explanation he could come up with. A tamer’s abilities were closely linked to their monsters. The higher the rank of the monster, the more powerful the tamer became.

"Alright, let’s see if he’s strong enough to block this."

Oliver then summoned Nyx.

Auron and Aria were both slightly surprised the moment they saw Nyx appear. Even from its appearance alone, they could tell that Nyx was no ordinary monster.

"Nyx! You said you wanted to fight, right? Then shoot at him!" Oliver ordered.

"Finally... my time... is here!" Nyx said excitedly as he immediately began charging his cannon, gathering an intense light within it.

After a few seconds, the cannon unleashed a massive blast toward Auron.

The attack was far larger than usual since Nyx had charged it longer out of excitement. The sheer pressure of the beam caused the ground beneath it to crack apart as it sped toward Auron.

Auron’s eyes widened.

BOOM!!

The blast sent massive amounts of dust and smoke throughout the entire area. There was no way someone could survive that kind of impact.

"Did... did we did it?" Oliver asked.

Suddenly, his breathing began releasing cold mist from his nose and mouth. He immediately noticed the temperature inside the room rapidly dropping.

The dust and smoke slowly transformed into a freezing mist that spread across the entire boss room.

As the smoke finally subsided, a massive ice boulder could be seen standing in front of Auron, nearly half of it shattered from the blast.

Behind it, Auron remained completely unharmed.

Standing beside him was Aria, whose entire left side was partially covered in ice. Above her hovered a blue icy bird, flapping its wings slowly.

Its long tail covered with frost, and every flap released waves of freezing mist into the air.

<Frostrix>

"Why are you helping me, Sister?! I could handle it myself!" Auron shouted.

"Are you out of your mind?! If you had taken that attack head-on, I’m afraid there wouldn’t even be enough of your body left to pick up! Just look at my Ice Barrier, it’s already half shattered!" Aria snapped back angrily.

Ice Barrier was Frostrix’s ultimate defensive skill. Its durability was so incredible that it could withstand the impact of a Wall Cannon without receiving even a single scratch.

But now, it had nearly been destroyed by a single attack.

Auron finally realized it. The individual standing before them was far from normal.

’Another Rank S monster?! Who the hell are they?’ Oliver thought as he scanned the icy bird with his Overlord Eye.

A smile slowly appeared beneath his wooden mask. It was not a smile born from arrogance.

It was because, for the first time in a long while... he felt fear. Cold sweat ran down his back as his heart began pounding faster.

"Let’s fight together, Brother. Let’s use that routine."

"You mean the one we prepared to defeat our Master? Is it really worth using it here?"

"It’s the only choice we have if we want to come out alive," Aria said seriously.

"Fine!"

Both Auron and Aria slowly closed their eyes. Suddenly, the pressure inside the room changed.

The mana emanating from the prodigious twins began growing more and more intense. Red and blue auras covered their bodies respectively, causing the surrounding air to tremble violently.

After a few seconds, Auron stomped his foot forward and took a fighting stance while Aria slowly opened her eyes. In the next instant, an explosive wave of scorching flames and freezing wind burst outward across the room.

Oliver was stunned by the transformation before him.

A flaming mask now covered Auron’s face, with fire constantly flowing from its edges. Meanwhile, the ice covering Aria’s body had completely transformed into a beautiful suit of crystalline ice armor.

"Is this... the true ability of Rank S tamers?" Oliver muttered.

For the first time, he realized the enemies standing before him were on an entirely different level. Right now, he was facing opponents unlike any he had ever encountered before.

And unknowingly to all of them, the true climax was quietly approaching, something none of them could have ever expected.
